HISTORICAL POST - NOT TO BE POSTED IN TRANSTOPIA ROUND UP
Written many many years ago, re-publishing on Seibertron.com for upcoming HMW tournament

Our history began in pain. Our first was a creation of Primus’ creations. Subjected to numerous experiments upon his spark, they slowly took his life essence and replaced it with darkness.

Like all scientists, they had no idea of the repercussions.

The object of the experiment … only they knew, no one else ever knew. Filled with rage over his imprisonment, his torture, and what they had done to him he slaughtered them all, scientists, guards, and anyone else who was near. It was only then that he discovered what he could do.

He devoured their sparks.

He escaped and fled to the underbelly of Cybertron. Hiding … he soon came to discover just what they had done to him. Not only could he feed off the sparks of others, he could infect them, like a virus, a virus that infected a Cybertronian’s spark, altering them, reprogramming them into a creature like the First, filling them with the same need to feed off the sparks of others.

Over the years our numbers grew and we became feared. Many tried to hunt us down, some succeeded, most failed. As our numbers grew so did our abilities, we became able to sense each other, some became connected to the point they shared a like mind.

Those that shared a like mind became their own group, a core group of five staying hidden from all except for our leaders. Others like them were sent out to watch, observing Cybertron and all its happenings, learning its secrets while The Five saw and remembered all, retaining our history in their data tracks via their servants, The Observers.

Like the other Cybertronians, most of us had the ability to transform, some however had lost that ability in the changing, these were our most feared as they became the most vicious of fighters. Known simply as The Brood, they slaughtered any and all that got in the way of their feeding, never once turning their victims into one of us. While they were small in number, they soon became the most feared beings on Cybertron as no one ever survived an encounter with them.

One of The Brood even managed to defeat a Prime, and in that moment of death one of The Observers seized the opportunity to feed on him, and for the briefest of moments The Five, connected through The Observer, touched The Matrix and opened them to Vector Sigma.

But then a time came when even The Brood weren’t the most feared, a Decepticon had risen to power, from the depths of Cybertron he had gathered an army of followers and was now set to tear Cybertron apart in civil war, this being called Megatron.

Nothing could stand in his way, he attacked without mercy, slaughtering all in his wake, even us. Many of The Brood fell at his hand and our numbers dwindled to near extinction, we fought back as best we could, and at the point that it seemed like we would be no more, the fighting stopped. A new Prime had taken charge to lead the Autobots. However, Optimus Prime … Megatron … and a vast majority of their armies disappeared.

The war on Cybertron scaled down and we soon began terrorise those that remained. Stalking our prey and draining their spark while turning others. Soon we were strong again and for a long time we nearly controlled Cybertron. We learnt so many secrets about Cybertron and its creations. And most of all we realised what had to be done. We had to control, we had to infect Vector Sigma and make the super computer one of us, and with that we could control Cybertron.

But then, the war returned, dormant for millions of years on a distant planet called Earth, the armies of Optimus and Megatron returned. And so the war began again, in a final battle Optimus Prime and Megatron fell. And then something happened, something that struck fear even into the cold sparks of The Brood. Unicron arrived.

For the first time Reavers, Autobots and Decepticons fought side by side against Unicron and his servant Galvatron. A new Prime arose and Unicron was defeated.

Over the following years the Great War continued. Autobots and Decepticons joined with the beings from Earth and Nebulon. We eventually stole the technology for ourselves and a small group of us travelled to Earth, at first to study the inhabitants. But we discovered something else. We found a race of humans similar to us, Vampires, nocturnal creatures who feed of the blood of fellow humans and at times turned them into Vampires themselves.

Using the stolen technology a number of us joined with our Vampire brethren making us stronger and the human vampires able to live in sunlight.

The Great War slowly ended, Autobots became Maximals, Decepticons became Predacons, and we became more hunted. Without the war keeping them busy they turned their attention to us. Our great plan to infect Vector Sigma became harder and harder to achieve as our numbers were reduced as we were hunted down and killed.

At the same time we still watched, we knew the peace between Maximal and Predacon would not last as the Predacons were still, at their core of the sparks, conquerors.

And so for millennia we struggled against the combined might of Cybertron, in the end we scattered, abandoning Cybertron and fleeing to other planets. It was a plan conceived a long time ago, each group would find another planet, establish themselves and in years we would again reunite and return to Cybertron when the time was right.

The day finally came that we would return to Cybertron, as we each took a step onto our former home; we discovered something … Cybertron, was lifeless. A new Megatron had risen to power and unleashed a virus upon the populace.

As we stood there, we had two choices. We could take advantage of the situation and finish the great plan to infect Vector Sigma thus transforming Cybertron into our planet, or we could help the small group of survivors fight Megatron and return it to its technological glory.

The choice was simple … we help defeat Megatron, while making Cybertron ours.
