Posted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 11:18 amThe Aircraft carrier had been drifting at sea for three days. The captain had no idea what caused it, and no one knew how to fix it. They had dropped anchor in the Mediterranean Sea, where they had been on exercises. Night had fallen and he stood on deck, between the useless F35’s and Apache attack copters, the gentle breeze blowing across his face. Looking up, he saw a streak of light in the sky.
“A shooting star. It’s not often you see those.”
He watched as it came through the atmosphere, leaving a burning trail of fire behind. Its trajectory seemed to shift, angling itself towards him. Deciding this was unusual behaviour for a lump of rock, he looked through his binoculars. Gasping in shock, he saw an American shuttle heading towards their location. Its power also seemed to be out.
Running to the command deck, he ordered the immediate clearance of flight deck. It looked like the shuttle was going to come down near them, and they figured they should at least try to provide a landing for them.
The bay was quickly cleared of craft. Igniting flares along the runway, they watched as the shuttle glided down over the ocean, banking towards them. Firing forward breaking thrusters, it let out a parachute to slow it down. Hitting the deck hard, the craft thundered down the runway, barley stopping before the edge.
Giving the engines time to cool, the flight crew and the captain approached the shuttle.
“Are you okay in there?”
There was no response.
The shuttle bay doors opened and a flare was launched high into the air. Wondering what was going on, the Captain ordered his flight crew to open the hatch. As they brought out cutting torches, the wind started to pick up. The crew reported that they were barely scratching the surface of the shuttle exterior. A loud roar came from above. Looking up, the stars were gone. An object, the same size as the aircraft carrier was hovering above them. It was hard to tell the shape of it, but the flare of downward pointing engines could be seen around them.
A green beam shot out of the centre of the object and passed over the entire ship. Shutting the beam off, the thing moved away from the ship, shut the engines off and splashed into the ocean. The Captain couldn’t see what was going on in the darkness, but there was definatly some kind of movement. Firing off a flare gun, he watched as the flare came down near the object, lighting up another aircraft carrier.
The shuttle’s engines roared to life as it took to the air. A loud boom came from the other ship. Looking over, the Captain saw a cruise missile heading towards him. With no power to defend themselves, he did the only thing he could.
“ALL HANDS, ABANDON SHIP!”
