Your right. It needs actual working rocket launchers.

firing missles are a plauge among TFs. Nothing is more irritating that going couch-diving to keep your toys complete every time you accidentally graze the trigger that sends the stupid missle halfway across your room. Masterpieces are far better without them.

agreed.
plus, displaying TFs without them kinda makes them incomplete, but displaying TFs WITH them attached runs the risk of the springs wearing out in the long run.
so yeah, MPs are BETTER off without them.

Firing missiles need not be necessary.
In the cartoons, once missiles are fired, notice that the launcher will magically be capped with that same missile again. So there's no point of actually firing it in the toys.

I have an incomplete Energon Shockblast because one day after Christmas ('06) when it was just sitting on my shelf it fired its missle into a bunch of boxes we had piled up to throw away, but since you don't expect them to be firing off for no reason by the time I noticed it missing the boxes were long gone.zemper wrote:Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:firing missles are a plauge among TFs. Fine, but would you prefer cartoons where they all have empty missile launchers instead then? I don't know, firing missiles are fun, and the number one demand I make of my toys is that they be fun.

Well then, how about instead of spring-loaded figure-incompleters, how about instead light-up laser guns?Dagon wrote:Auto Bot wrote:Firing missiles need not be necessary.

Honestly I thought that was one of the coolest parts about MP Megs was the LED light they put in his scope/cannon, & anymore the way they keep making LED lights & batteries smaller & smaller, there would really not be too much of a problem to do that, considering the size they have to make the projectile launchers anymore to accomodate safety regulations.

I remember the old Mazinger Z cartoon. The lady-bot (Aphrodite? forgot the name) have two luscious red breast missiles. Once the breast missiles are launched, the chest becomes empty. Like the bot underwent some kind of mechanical mastectomy.

I second the idea of the LED on Grimlock. But let's take it up a notch. Put it in his cannon, Put the cannon in his mouth ala IDW's "Grimlock Spotlight." Then, have a lever on his head or neck or somewhere the clicks on the double-barrelled blaster in his mouth, then BOOM! twin beams of red light blasting out! Then, once in Robot mode, he's got the blaster coupled with his amazing articulation blasting his Twin Cannons of Doom at any Seeker daring to mess with His Bad@$$ness.
I'd also be thrilled to see a ressurection of the gimmick last seen in Lazer Prime and the two G2 motorcycles: The LED lights runs through the hand, thus illuminating the weapon. Please just take a moment to imagine this. You're in a dark room. You click a button. Suddenly, all you can see is the flaming red of MP Grimlock's EnergoSword casting its ruddy glow on the fierce face of the most dangerous Dinobot ever...
Yeah. That's all I'm talking about.

I see where you are coming from but I'd honestly prefer him without firing missiles. Even though he has a missile launcher, who used it? I have Grimlock (G1 and WSTF Dinobot) with Energo Sword and his double barreled Stunner Rifle.

I'm not sure if technology is at the point that they would be able to pull off the Led hand without giving Grimlock a molded fist. I wouldn't want to loose articulation for a gimmick. In the G1 toon Grim never used his rocket launcher so I really don't think we need one on a MP figure.

Both are good, valid points. I must admit I did not think of the loss of articulation though I reckon it is possible with todays tech to do this without the loss.
Agreed that the Missile Launcher was never use by Grim in form of print or animation.

I didn't read all of the posts, but I agree with this idea.
However, if working lights is what the majority want, I'd be down.
Either way, this will be the first MP I'll get.
Does anyone know when the official word/confirmation will be/could be released??

It is not confirmed as yet. I, for one, hope it will be soon.
As for Luminance material, doesn't that degrade quickly? Not really MP material if so!

I don't see any prototype yet. Usually proto pics are leaked before the actual toy.

I wonder how big will Grimlock be. The Starscream mold is surprisingly small for an MP toy.

Re: Masterpiece Grimlock Confirmed?
IMO, Grimlock was all ready done well enough in G1, and doesn't need a MP release. Don't get me wrong, me love grimlock, grimlock king! However, I think efforts could have been made towards other characters that were either poorly done, or not quite to par in G1.

G1 Grimlock was very good, but it'd still be nice to see one seeing as there will never be a reissue.

Re: Masterpiece Grimlock Confirmed?
G1 Grimlock is good, for the G1 generation. But he lacks articulation and proper proportions.
Also, his alt mode is patterned after a form that was still in accurate, at the time.
