He looks better with the armor forward but this appears to be the proper position for the extra armor. If you look closely they actually molded tabs onto the side of Junkyard's feet that aren't found on Wreck-Gar's that fit into slots on the inside of the armor.

I love the mold (especially the weird head with biker shades) and will definitely pick him up. But, I think I'm gonna have to repaint him. The colors Hasbro chose make the figure look unfinished.

Honestly? As someone who wasn't too hot on Wreck Gar and isn't attached to the Junkion 86 movie thing, I'm really digging how this figure looks and a movie now heavily considering picking him up. The different colors and how they're arranged plus that nifty new head really do alot

After seeing these pictures, Junkyard has my attention now.

I noticed something about the SS86 Scourge mold. There's a molded detail visible in altmode that to my eyes looks fairly similar to (or at least reminiscent of) the windows found on Cybertron Sideways and Soundwave.
Image

How much discussion has their been of this? Could it be a sign of things to come? Or is it more likely just an homage to the fact that a Scourge and some Sweeps were made using the Sideways mold?

He looks better than Wreck-Gar. I still won't get him because I don't care about Junkions, but it's a good-looking figure. My 1 curiosity is if the wheels partsform or not. I haven't watched reviews.

What do you mean partsform? Do they completely come off the vehicle/robot? If so, yes...but so did the original toy AND cartoon counterpart.

Yes that's what I was trying to see. I thought maybe the legs managed to bend in such ways that made the wheels a solid part instead of loose. Makes no difference, I was just curious. Thanks.

The wheels aren't one solid piece, rather they spin on a separate hollow ring; that allows them to spin despite being attached to any 5mm hole, including the spikes.

I am well aware of that - I own Wreck-Gar.

My point is that the need to hang on the spikes is the reason the rear wheel partsforms instead of twisting around below the knee joint to get between the legs (as was done on the G1 toy).

To be fair, they're more satisfying than the original's wheel shield since they're more interesting to look at.

But then, who needs a spinner when you have transformation to fidget with?

I tend to glaze over during the Junkion scenes. So I forget there was more than just Wreck-Gar: copy & pasted. Looking to the Wiki, it looks like there is still five ( ) more Junkions from The Movie to bring to this line:

From left to right: Scrapheap, Wasteoid Gamma, Re-Cycle, Rubbish, HAZMAT and Greasestain. Junkyard also is visible just below Greasestain's arm.

They've certainly found the Seeker-Mold for this line

Junkions are barely tapped awesomeness. I love the overall look. The idea of transformers made of junk makes a ton of sense in fiction. And transformers riding each other in scale - in a motorcycle gang no less - is just plain cool. And not in terms of a silly animation error like Hoist riding in Huffer, but them being able to legitimately interact.

Maybe it's just rose tinted glasses, but G1 army builders are just so cool. I just wish they had spread them out more (in today's toylines). The Sweeps have a nice, uniform, feel to them. Seekers are also military, but individualized to the point where any recolor of the same character can fit in nicely (which can also be said of tapes). Sharkticons & Alicons have an ugly, monstrous ascetic the other factions don't have. And Junkions can be highly individualized while sharing a unique riding gimmick that sets them apart.

There's just so much variety. All in just a couple seasons and one movie.

I'm tempted to get some more of the older Insecticons to go with the new ones. Too bad I don't have friggin' room.

Always been a fan of army builders, in all lines I've collected over the years. Especially fond of the in-universe reason for them within Transformers. Before budding, protoforms etc
The more mechanised nature of mass production made more sense for advanced alien robots. If there is need for a flier, one is constructed. If effective and there is need for more. Simply replicate the first one.

When the rumors started that at least one Junkion would be released, I initially thought, “Nahhh… Sweeps & Sharkticons will be the only figures I troop build”.
But between knowing there will be plenty I skip from Legacy, and seeing this guy, I will be very tempted to get these variants…
As others have said, they’re just cool.
And good on Hastak for making enough changes to create something that is different enough…
We all know why the Sweeps figure is so similar to Scourge, but they obviously didn’t have to do so much retooling for Junkyard… This is pretty awesome. In a few ways I think he does look better than Wreck-gar.
So while I can’t say right now that this is a buy-on-sight figure,
It’s a “most likely” purchase.

Most of these look like recolors of one of the two complete Junkion character models made for the movie (except for Wreck-Gar, of course). With Junkyard and maybe Scrapheap as well, Hasbro and Takara could give us some of these other background characters in Generations Selects or some other exclusive channel with some new paint jobs, head sculpts, and maybe a few interchangeable bits of junk "kibble."

WG and Greasestain look like a new mold might be needed. The rest would suffice from minor retools for the Selects line.
