[Air Commander Starscream]

Joel of BigBadToyStore has put out another update. What's new is the arrival of MP-06 Skywarp, Target Transformers Exclusives and a Galvatron unpainted kit. As usual there is always so much more.

MP-06 MASTERPIECE SKYWARP: Skywarp looks fantastic and is now in stock
for $99.99. This has already sold out in Japan and our orders were not
even filled in full, so be sure to pick up an MP-06 soon before they sell
out completely. The back of the box shows an image of Skywarp flying with
Starscream and a familiar blue jet as well, we should see an MP

HASBRO STAR WARS 2008: Hasbro has announced the first round of items to
hit shelves in late 2007 or early 2008. They are bringing back the very
popular and cool Evolutions series - the first wave of figures are all
reissues, but there is bound to be more cool stuff coming in the future.
Galactic Heroes gets a few more new items, more new Starfighter vehicles
are coming and a very fun new 'Might Muggs' urban vinyl style line is now

Oh, what to do! I'm so torn. It's pretty much the same mold... do I wait for Hasbro's G1 Masterpiece Starscream, or do I get this Skywarp? Does anyone have any idea if Hasbro's Starscream will be all plastic like 20th Prime, or will he have some die-cast?

Hmm... Takara's MP Starscream is all Plastic, save for one backbone structure piece that serves merely as support and has no display value for the figure. Hasbro's will be no different.

Hasbro's Primes contain just as much diecast as the Japanese Versions.

Where did this idea of Hasbro's Prime being plastic come from?

I know Hasbro's original MP Prime was die-cast (I have that one and MP-04), but the 20th "Classics" MP Prime looked all plastic in the package, to me, but I could be wrong. I've never seen it out of package. And I personally just didn't like the his colors either, looked kinda cheap.

As for MP Skywarp, on the BBTS website, it says he is part plastic, part die cast. It makes it sound like he has more die-cast than Starscream, which if true, makes Skywarp worth the money.

Regarding the die-cast ratio - I read an interesting article that the price for some common metals have skyrocketed as China consumes of the remaining resources. In particular, die-cast has soared as well as copper and iron. This might be the reason why less die-cast has been used on MP Skywarp and Megatron.

Skywarp should start heading my way at some point today since he was pre-ordered and I set that pile of loot to ship. YAY SKYWARP. God, he looks so freakin' cool. Now maybe I'll figure out why Air Commander Starscream loves the SS version so much. Oh, and I think BBTS are simply guessing at a Thundercracker release. I hope they're right.

TC would seem like a no brainer at this point. Till he gets here, MP-03 will fill in nicely.

I got mine two days ago, it has a very vivid high gloss paint job and tight but not stiff joints. I may be wrong but I think they used a better form of plastic.

I like BBTS but thy are considerably more expensive then other online shops.....too bad for them, I ordered my MP Skywarp throgh HLJ.. at 20.00 cheaper all together..

But HLJ will charge you more to ship it here to the US.

While BBTS does have high prices, import items have to be marked up a bit to account for that shipping, HLJ sells them cheap, but charges more shipping to get it here.

All in all, both are good, you probably saved a little bit, but if something goes wrong it is pretty hard to return to HLJ (and expensive), but less so at BBTS.

I know this doesn't exactly relate to this news, but it's relevant for me because I can't decide what to buy. I'm sure most would say Starscream is the better character between him and Skywarp, but Skywarp looks so good! I know what Starscream's personality is like, for the most part, but what about Skywarp? Is he just a stupid bruiser type as I've gathered from his profile, or does he have some more respectable qualities? I like to buy figures of characters I can appreciate, that have detailed personalities, and I don't buy Decepticons much. I don't want to buy both MP seeker figures either.
