Seibertron's galleries have been updated with three Revenge of the Fallen figures who all have alternate modes that you don't always get to see in the Transformers fandom. The first is Leader Jetfire, who is a SR-71 Blackbird with a storied past. The figure can combine with RotF Leader Optimus to create Power Up Optimus Prime, an illustrious combination that will be featured in Seibertron's galleries shortly. The second is Scout Depthcharge, a Concept Lockheed Martin Littoral Combat Ship, who has no relations to a Beast Wars character of the same name, although they are both nautical. The last addition is Scout Ransack, who is the most unique taking the form of a German Albatros D.III Bi-plane. You can check each figure's gallery in the links below.

Ransack is one of the coolest figures out now. Reminds me so much of a gobot. That was the only reason why i bought him. Jetfire i still dont like. Saw the figure the other day in TRU and even in person its not impressive. Depthcharge is pretty cool, my friend picked it up when it came out. Only problem is his legs. Its a little hard to stand him is different stances. Im waiting for the repaint.

I'm skeptical to get Jetfire now, or wait for a repaint. I just want I nice looking Jetfire + Optimus Combination XD.

Very nice galleries but still not sold on Jetfire. His alt mode with a robot hanging off the bottom kills it for me. Ransack is pretty cool-wish they'd do the Model T concept too.

This seems as good a place to ask this as anywhere. I'm not terribly on the idea of picking up ROTF Prime just to combine it with Jetfire, so is there anyone out there who can tell me if Jetfire is backwards compatible with 2007 Prime?

This is correct. Leader Jetfire has securing components that only work on Rotf Leader Optimus Prime. Mainly the shoulder and bottom of the feet securing points.

??? Congrats to Hasbro for figuring out how to give us a way to combine these two figures. Not the best implementation of the concept but the customization that it allows is a lot of fun to tinker with. Why in the world would Hasbro make Jetfire work with the first movie Prime? That doesn't make any sense at all.

To be fair, RotF Leader OP is a great figure in most people's judgment. I have both the 07 and RotF Leader figures and they both are great in their own ways.

Also, just to let you know, DB, automatontoy.com is selling RotF Leader Optimus Prime for $39.99 CAD and has $9.99 flat rate shipping for Canadian shipping destinations. They also have RotF Leader Megatron for the same price. I may pick one up if it's still in stock when I have the money set aside.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. See, since ROTF Prime is basically 2007 Prime retooled, most people aren't going to want to rebuy it. (I'm talking about general people here, not hardcore obsessive completists.) And since the major selling point of Jetfire is the combining gimmick with Prime, most people are going to want to buy it. Therefore, it would make sense to ensure that it's backwards compatible with the first movie Prime as well, since most people aren't going to want to honk out an extra $65 for a figure they techincally already own.

Convotron wrote:To be fair, RotF Leader OP is a great figure in most people's judgment. I have both the 07 and RotF Leader figures and they both are great in their own ways.

I've seen ROTF Prime. I agree it's a great figure. But for those who already own 2007 Prime and don't want to sell an arm and a leg to get him again, it makes more sense for Jetfire to work with the previous Prime figure as well as the new guy.

In other words, since Leaders typically go for somwhere between $49.99-$59.99, you're more or less paying the same amount of money for it either way.

The problem with making RotF Leader Jetfire backwards compatible with 07 Leader OP is that its design isn't even perfect for combination with RotF Leader OP. It works well enough but to also include extra structural points on Jetfire to make it work with 07 Leader OP is impractical and poor toy design because it's just adding more obtrusive components for the sole purpose of connecting to 07 Leader OP.

Jetfire's compromised toy design is already largely criticized, adding more compromises to it would make it even more clunky than it already is. This is coming from someone who loves the figure.

I can't see how RotF Leader OP could be called a retooling of 07 Leader OP, though, considering it's an entirely new toy design, albeit of the same character. The placement and design of components, the size of the figure, as well as its transformation design are totally different.

I think the Automaton Toys pricing will save a decent bit of money. I bought my Leader OP for $59.99 CAD plus taxes locally. Sure, you're not getting a Leader OP for half the price but to me, something like $5 or $10 is still worth saving.

Actually, it still doesn't make any sense at all. I think you might be confused about the new ROTF Optimus Prime which is a 100% brand spankin' NEW toy. There's absolutely nothing retooled about it. The figure is brand new from the ground up, has a completely different transformation. It's a completely separate toy. The ROTF toy is much more accurate to the movie Optimus Prime than the first one was. I didn't realize how much so until I transformed the original movie Prime and compared them side-by-side.

Well, with the comparison pics, they sure look a lot different. The 2007 Movie seems to have more kibble on the sides.

The 07 Leader OP is more of a "truck with robot parts", especially when you look at the leg and back kibble and the way that the torso is basically a cube/cabin of the truck. I remember seeing the feedback from some reviewers who were blown away by it when it was first released a couple of years ago. I think it's still a cool figure.

The kibble on the sides and the back are really obtrusive. Standing alone, the 07 Leader OP looks fine. It's just that when you see it beside the very true-to-character-model RotF Leader OP, the difference is sharply apparent.

Also, looking at the movie character's transformation sequence, RotF Leader OP's transformation design has some resemblance where the 07 Leader OP's transformation has very little similarity to the movie character's transformation sequence.

I really think that RotF Leader OP's transformation design is under-appreciated. It gets notice by some for being perceived as a difficult transformation but no one really mentions how good the transformation is. There's no issues with parts getting in the way, there's no overly complicated pretzel simulation sequences where you have to really work at getting parts around.

The one big issue I see in the transformation is the way that the plastic tabs with the ball ends(located at the bottom of the "ribcage" section), which connect into the transformed forearms in alt mode, cause some people to be wary of breakage.

I really enjoy having 07 Leader OP and RotF Leader OP because they are two different toys and provide two different experiences for me.

This is news to me, really. I was under the impression that figures being reused from the first movie were more or less the same as they were the first time, so that people who bought them before wouldn't have to buy them again. I guess that's not true in Prime's case.

Yeah, basically the same here Bombshell. I'm still sceptical of getting the combination though because that's a huge money sink, especially for us Canadians. Might have to go back to Alberta and buy it and save the PST.

ROTF Starscream is a brand new mold as well. Bumblebee is a retooled Bumblebee. Ironhide, Ratchet, (technically) Grindor, and Voyager Prime I think are the only 3 carry overs that didn't receive new molds for characters that APPEARED in ROTF. I was really impressed that Hasbro did new versions for Prime and Starscream and even retooled Bumblebee (though I like the first Bumblebee's head better, but I seem to be in the minority on that).

I mentioned Ironhide above ... but I just remembered that he even got a new head and new weapons so he'd be considered a retool as well.

I think Hasbro went above and beyond the call of duty on the ROTF line. They did a great job with all of the product in my opinion.
