Isnt this early stocking selling just as well as Prime was when he first came out? I remember being shocked at how many fans were still jumping on him after it seemed the community was going to boycott it.

The Prime's sold well in my area the first time around. I think that was mostly the *general public* though, or adults who hadn't seen an *original* prime in 35 years (though its been reissued several times) . not many actual fans do i know that got one, until it clearanced. If they do produce a second round of Soundwave, it will be curious to see how well it sells.

I picked up the cassettes but passed on Soundwave. I have atleast 3 reissues of him already that I can remember and I sold my encore cassettes years ago because I needed some money. ( kinda kicking myself in the ass for that one now but bills needed paid )

Finally saw a single Soundwave at one of the out of the way Walmarts in my area. They had 3 whole pegs for cassettes, all completely empty though.

That's similar to my experience so far. One Walmart had three Soundwaves and no tapes and the other had three pegs of tapes, but no Soundwaves. Though you finding only one at a store me only finding three (the other store probably hasn't put theirs out yet) does make me think these might be better sellers than people think. And with no guarantee of restocks in this line it makes me a little nervous about waiting on Soundwave. People seem to have caught on that Soundwave with Buzzsaw is a better deal at $50 than Prime with next to nothing.

Were they really selling that well around you? The first time I saw Prime there was six on the shelf. When they went on clearance there was five. I check my local stores at least once every week, I would have noticed if there were more or less than that on the shelves, they just didn't sell well at all. One sold at $50, two sold at $35, the remaining three sold at $25. Total failure (in my area).

Lemme correct you on 2 points. It is REALLY uncertain those will remain in stock long enough to be on sale. Especially the COMPLETE set. And so, you did good to not have waited.

Despite having to buy Siege Jetfire and MPM Jazz, I think I'll priorise getting Soundwave if I ever see it live in store, despite having already the old TrU reissue (fat chest) and a vintage Frenzy(Rumble).

Finally, my Walmart stocked them and I did the exact same thing. Except I haven't had any of these figures since I was a kid, and $86.91 later, now I do.

Regrets? NONE.

And Ironhidensh, I don't think I've said this to you before, but I love the fact that you never even wait to get home to open them, they always make their escape onto your dashboard, no matter what you buy.

We're a far cry from the bafflingly trailer-less Optimus Prime. That Optimus was pretty unappealing at full 50$US or 70$CAN. Even when the price was reduced to 50$CAN, it still warmed the shelves.
Still, I finally took it when it was on true clearance at 35$CAN (25-27$US). It may be to replace my old reissue with modded metal smokestacks. I've yet to open it though.

But Soundwave and CO would be bought on sight if I find the whole team. I think they are fully worth the price they are asking for. And they sold for DOUBLE on Ebay and such so...

well the cycle is complete now. After seeing one SW with no cassettes at a WM a little ways away on Sunday, Yesterday I saw the cassettes with no SW yesterday at my closest WM.

If you want one, you should probably bite the bullet and get it online. I did, because I was sure I'd have 0% chance of ever seeing one in a store. And so far it's held true. The only place I ever saw anything bigger than leaders in years was TRU, and even then it was just the first time they put out Metroplex. Oh and a boxed G2 CW Menasor at TJMaxx...

Reissues... Found an OP for $25 and went for it. Color seems slightly off in shade compared to my 84 original, and the stickers are garbage even brand new vs 35 year old ones, but the face is painted better than my old one, which I was never very happy with in that regard. The extra gun is nice, but a bit of a letdown compared to having a trailer and roller! The chrome is nice and shiny, not as worn as my old one, too.

There was a poll that was Skywarp VS Blaster and Blaster won.
So Blaster and his cassettes may be next. Logical because of Soundwave.

We're already half way through August, I think they should be able keep selling Soundwave through the rest of the year, it's only a little over 4 months. Optimus first showed up in stores in January and some people still see them in stores 8 months later.

I also doubt Astrotrain and Blaster will be released at the same time since they were in two different polls. They're also not necessarily the only reissues we're getting next year. I'm thinking Astrotrain will hit early in 2020 with some more Autobot mini bots and then Blaster later in the year with tape 2-packs Ramhorn/Eject and Steeljaw/Rewind to mirror the 2019 releases.

When it comes strictly to the original series Soundwave and Blaster (not counting Microman, fan club series, bootlegs, etc....) There were 10 Autobot cassettes, and 10 Decepticon cassettes. I wonder if by the end of 2020, we could have, for the first time in North America, Blaster and Soundwave with all 10 of their minions each re-released?

Unless Hasbro / Takara bother re-creating the lost molds, G1 Dinobots are a big nope.

I don't know what would be involved in recreating those molds but it sure would be cool if they did.

That would be 5 or 6 complete mold sets. Molds that would be freaking expensive to make. They'd have to recoup their costs and they would make barely any profits with the first reissue release. You'd have to expect the dinos to be 80$US each from the get go and then, seeing a Generations Select release in G2 colors and a E-Hobby release in Black.

That would still be damn awesome IMO.
Eh. the KO companies made new molds on their own. The quality suck but if KO companies were able to do it, I don't see why HasTak can't.
