I was just reiterating the comment above, at the time. As noted before, I don't have any real interest in this line. Especially now I've seen Ark, he is an easy pass. Decent as Kingdom is, it isn't in this league...

Given the budget difference between those figures and Kingdom...did you ever think that was going to happen? However Kingdom is perfect for those that doesn't want to splash that cash

No, but I didn't expect it to be either. From the first couple figures, I knew this line wasn't for me. If it were doing something different than the MP line IE Polar Claw, I might have been interested. But as it stands, I see no reason to buy a lesser version of a line I'm already invested in.

To be honest, the City Bots are the only modern figures I've been interested in since.. the original WFC/FoC lines. I like when Transformers does something different. But when it comes to the retail lines, the whole nostalgia/evergreen repetition thing does nothing for me.

Man, that Megatron is so beautiful. His silouette is perfect.

Someone (I think it was Soundwave) was talking about how great the recent iteration of G1 characters were and asked if it was the same for the Beast Wars toys and it is not. I do not care at all for Huffer, or Inferno but I just bought those toys and they are excellent. They are far more true to the animation than any of the beast wars toys have been (intentionally so, which is weird). That Cyclonus is stunning. When looking at the Beast Wars toys we've gotten, none of them blow me away. Primal is ok, Megatron is good (a fun twist on the transformation but not so much beyond that), Dinobot is fine with some major misteps, they are all ok but none of them are great and most of all, none feel definitive compared to the G1 characters we are getting. It's like we have to go through the whole "classics" era the G1 toys went through before getting definitive toys in this trilogy era. Why not just cut to the chase and give us definitive beast wars toys in this scale?

Jelze Bunnycat wrote:Ptera, TriceraStyraco, Tyranno!

Paleotrex never even got to retail in my neck of the woods, which is super odd. Usually wave 1 is the one you see the most of and yet I got all my wave 2 deluxes before finding a single wave 1 one. All other size classes are ok though, it's just the deluxes that didn't show up.

Jelze Bunnycat wrote:Still, who said show-accuracy was the main focus? Isn't that Studio Series and Masterpiece?

The G1 characters are pretty show accurate.

That's pretty much the reason in a nutshell ;)

Because they're G1 characters.

Here's a question though, could they do definitive versions of Beast Wars cast? And how much would they cost? Giving the price of paint apps in the proper places. The mp beast wars stuff have mp budgets behind them, and people still weren't happy with some of them (mainly Blackarachnia).

Oops, I saved the draft of my thoughts on the reveals and then forgot about it. Anyway...

Draconite: Looks cool in green, and that's about all I can say about it.

Soundwave: This is the reveal that impressed me the most. His chest door opens! Tiny (but non-transforming) Laserbeak! Both his weapons! Two very good modes! He overall far exceeds my expectations. My only criticism is that he could use a little more paint in a few spots, but given his size class and the amount of paint he already has, you can't have it all. Soundwave will probably be competing with Rattrap and maybe Starscream for the best core class.

Skorponok: His scorpion mode looks fantastic, and it's nicely articulated. He's a thicc boi in robot mode, but I actually think it kinda fits his character. In a way. I don't know. I'm cool with it.

Wingfinger: This guy looks awesome, probably my favorite of the fossilizers. I really like the ninja-esque robot mode. Whereas I think the weaponizers started out with their best figure, the fossilizers keep getting better and better.

Tracks: I think he looks pretty good overall, though it's a bit unfortunate that he has a faux chest. His alt mode looks great. I don't totally understand the hate he's receiving. It's just too bad I don't care about Tracks as a character.

Rhinox: Looks pretty good overall, though I don't think it looks better than the T30 version. His rhino mode looks really good, but the faux chest is a bit unfortunate (though I understand what they're going for), and his shoulders look kinda weird. Not figure ruiningly weird, but weird enough that I know it would bother me if I got it (like Cyclonus's knees). I personally think his colors are fine.

Galvatron: His proportions still look a bit off, and Hasbro taking the pictures didn't magically change that. His cannon mode really screams "we prioritized the bot mode on this one". I'll need to see the Selects version before I'll know if I'm interested.

Rodimus Prime: He still looks really good, and I'm glad that there is more to the trailer than was first shown. I'll need to see some size comparisons before I decide whether I think he's worth $80 or not.

Ark: Not something I'm interested in, but it looks decent. The bot mode gives me some Tidal Wave vibes, and the Ark mode is solid, even if the leg gaps look unsightly. It might be able to suck me in if those turrets can swivel, but I doubt they can.

Tricranius: His deco is fantastic, I like the Triceratops retooling, and this finally gives fans a much-asked for blast effect pack. Super cool.

Considering how many tries and iterations it took to get some solid G1 figures, id say Beast wars needs more love to get some better figures

That being said, I like these figures for what they are. MP is not only far too expensive but their designs don't really fit in well with other characters imo. I like these BW figures because they actually fit in with my G1 guys and it's cool to bring them together. That and they scale better with them too

The kingdom figures are by no means perfect but I dont think they suck either. I enjoy the "realistic" beast modes and some bot modes are more toon accurate than others but it's nice to see these characters getting some love

I'd imagine when unicron trilogy gets some updates they won't be perfect either but they'll be welcome

It was always my intention to create a combiner from the Fossilizers, but it was nice Hasbro/TT went ahead and designed one. ;) .

Yeah wave 1 came and went quickly. It's nice that things aren't shelf warming ( other than cyberverse) But I think it's more due to retailers ordering far fewer than in previous years.

I guess it's one of those with no "official" construction, which works just fine for me. The Combiner head hidden with Wingfinger especially, providing me with a starting point.

^ Pretty much this. Many of the BW character models cheat so much between modes that even the MPs can't pull them off without completely relying on faux parts, and some of them just straight up sacrifice one mode so the other mode can look good (see: Blackarachnia). None of that is really feasible on a general retail toy, at least not one that's any fun.

Really the only major change that could be made is to have show accurate beast mode instead of realistic ones, but I kind of see that as the Kingdom toys going for more BW toy-accurate direction, since the toys had (somewhat) more realistic beast modes than the cartoon. That's just my take, though.

Reasonable.

Certainly more reasonable than comparing Generations figures to Masterpiece figures and saying they're superior as if water isn't wet.

Beast Wars animation had so many cheats that I don't think 'total accuracy' is possible, or really, even worth the waste in desire. The spirit of accuracy and balance between the toys and the show with Generations, to me, is admirable. I don't need them to be super accurate. I don't need the G1 guys to be super accurate, but it's nice when we get it.

My thoughts on the reveals:

Dracodon: green Vertebreak, I'll bite.

Soundwave: no thanks, I'll continue to pass on the core g1-ers

Scorponok: still looks good, I'll get him.

Wingfinger: that is yet another freaky design and I love it. Love that the 3 fossilizers also have an official combined form with head. Love it all. Will get it.

Tracks: this is a case where they should not have used the MP as a go-by. Looks bad honestly. But I want to get it since I don't really like the robot mode on my RTS Tracks. But still, needed a lot more.

Rhinox: how does this look like a partial downgrade from T30? This one has started off behind and has a way to go to win me over on it.

Galvatron: I'll wait to see what repaints we get.

Roddy Prime: I'm good with PotP.

Ark/Iaconus: still liking it.

Tricranius: so good!!!! I love the base mold and the new colors and head kill it. I preordered it, one of only 2 TFs I preordered this weekend.

SG Blurr: awesome looking, they nailed that one! he is the other one I preordered.

Big Prime: really neat, didn't get, but really neat.

Perhaps since T30 rhinox had a show accurate head they wanted to change it up a bit with Kingdom rhinox

Tigatron and BB + Sam on Amazon. Waspinator seems to not be available for pre-order on amazon yet, and Slag won't let me add him to my wishlist so I can't pre-order him.

Strange about Slag, but Waspinator is definitely available as I already ordered him

For me, he has no Pre-Order Option, like the rest of them had.

Click the link, to add him to an amazon list, you should be able to pre-order him from there.

Wouldn't it be prudent to just wait until they're revealed to pre order them?
