Kind of a cross between the design of Dinobot II and the original Dinobot figure, I guess? Could be interesting.

I throw my packaging in the recycle bin, so it's not an issue for me. I collect toys, not boxes.

Best of luck to you finding/ordering anything online in your random packaging world. Kind of like the person who posted in another thread they ordered ER Arcee on Amazon, and got Cyberverse Arcee instead. I guess he shouldn't complain right? He got an Arcee didn't he? It's only packaging.

I don't think that's a very fair way to interpret that. It's more so (if I'm understanding what AcademyofDrX is saying), that for him, it doesn't matter whether or not a toy is from one line or another. The important part is what the figure is. So like, if you had Figure-X in the Cyberverse line as well as the Generations line, it wouldn't matter which version you got was because it's the same toy. The box isn't necessarily the important part (for people that don't keep the boxes around such as him and I), but what's on the inside that counts. Of course for people that do keep the boxes (as I do for some of my higher-end figures) I can appreciate the want for a character that would've fit better in another line to be in the same or similar packages.

Yup. That one had more SS than Kingdom and the big new reveal was Kup who is SS so it only made sense I put that there instead.

And, for all fans of Optimus Primal, check out the spikey ball at the back of the TRex head in the pic. That becomes Optimus Primal's mace, making Paleotrex a must have for any BW fan.

o.supreme wrote:Anyone else find it puzzling that 86 movie characters will be both in the SS line and Kingdom? I just find it odd.

They could use the Netflix line as well. While I know you are talking about the 86 movie characters, it's basically just releasing G1 characters. Like Jazz will be released in the "86 line" and he's not really a a character I'd associate t the 86 film. I'd be more inclined to have Bumblebee and Soundwave associatd to that film (especially BB) and they are in the Netflix line and we know there will be more from that line to come. They are basically working with 3 lines to release as much G1 characters as possible, be it movie related or not. While it is "odd" in a thematic sense, I totally get it. They have more characters they want to release than spots available. I personally do not care as long as they are easy to get.

D-Maximal_Primal wrote:
AcademyofDrX wrote:Does it matter what line a toy is issued in?

Yeah.

Going to the store next year, see's a shelf freshly stocked:

WFC: G1 and BW
SS: G1 and movie
netflix: G1 with damage

It's worse than that, slightly. Netflix is doing a switch now where it's not just G1 with damage but more g1 we are not seeing eslewhere. Like Soundwave, Elita 1 and Bumblebee. None of them have damage because they are meant to be the main release of the figure rather than an alternative release (Hasbro mentioned something along the lines when Sounwave was revealed to explain why Soundwave had no damage).

So as I wrote above for OSupreme, we have 3 lines releasing toys that are meant to go together on your G1 shelf. Netflix was WFC overspill and now so is SS (And Selects, in rare occasions like Lancer and Nightbird).

It's more than just names, we also have their roles, their overall designs and personalities along with the same theme as a war between the autobots and decepticons. To me this is as much a G1 reboot as we can get. The episode where Hot Rod is taken captive by megatron as a way to beat Optimus brings that point home with a reinterpretation of the most classic scenario we know. I see it as much a G1 reboot as the Netflix show is and I don't see how it can be more G1 without just releasing the exact same g1 show with redone drawings (which wouldn't be a reboot).

Apparently, it still needs to look like Captain Planet and sound like a 1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoon to be like G1.

That's why I said toys. Cyberverse was infinitely more enjoyable and better quality than the G1 cartoon. A lot of looks are there in new cartoon shading, but the personalities and the show were far better and used said personalities far better. Kids today actually love Hot Rod, instead of the kids of the 80's who are now 40-something year olds who still hate Hot Rod for his role in the movie and Season 3

When you are looking at them loose in a junk bin 10 years from now, probably not. But for myself, I only collect Generations currently. If there are toys being released in SS just because "they didn't have enough room" in generations, that makes no sense to me. SS is supposed to be the "best most on-screen accurate portrayal of each character". While Generations does try to evoke a sense of Original Series nostalgia at times, they have freedom to draw from the original toys, animated series, or comics on occasion.

But if you want to get your Haslab Unicron in Botbots packaging, by all means, you do you.

Well, here's a thing to ease your mind then:

Studio Series is Generations. It, like the WFC Trilogy, is a subline of Generations.

How many different threads here are the same people complaining about G1. Cyberverse is G1, Authentics is G1, I'm expecting to hear that the Bumblebee movie is G1. Animated may as well be G1. RiD (2015) is at least as G1 as Cyberverse. I don't even know what everyone is upset about anymore.

I have to be honest, I've never seen an actual Geewunner, I think they're a myth to be a stand-in for G1 hate.

For the record, I do want more unique designs, characters, and narratives. But I'm grateful for what we're getting in things like Cyberverse and IDW even if they're not as innovative as, say, Animated. I'm happy that Kingdom is creating new figure and character types even if it's not just a Beast Wars line.

I wonder what faction Paleotrex is? If I remember correctly, leakers said that Wingfinger and Ractonite are Predacons, so it would make sense to have at least one of the other 3 be a Maximal. It would make sense for Paleotrex to be the Maximal if he's got Primal's face mace included as part of him.

Yeah, the fact that his head is meant to be Primal's mace is making me think Paleotrex might be a Maximal.

Plus, his stock photo shows him armoring up the Autobot Warpath.

I just realized that the bw crew don't have waeponizer ports (I assume, I won't watch any videos and thereby show any metric of support for that level of theft) so the skelly dino's are just gonna be able to combine with the g1 figures? that'll look mildly strange, was kinda hoping to weaponize cheetor with those big ass claws :(

maybe they'll have multiple tab types, like c-joints or something equivalent to it.

Yeah, they look awesome, it's just already feels like I'm not gonna like using them as weaponizers cuz they'll be so out of place, on the plus side, paleotrix' bot mode already looks sick with those giant claws :michaelbay:

Nah, it was an Epic Fail, at least Perceptors was meaningfull to the story. Wait till the Gifs start... I'd facepalm but it might be a better plot element of how to loose an eye.
I used to have two eyes until I took a missile to the floor...behind me.

I go outside and I only have one eye, and I say hey eye eye

Can't even believe it's taken to the two part finale to get the story back on track after a lot of snooze fest filler episodes, Season 3 is way worse than season 1 despite its stronger start.

Gah sorry that was meant to go in cyberverse cartoon forum although it was replying to comments here.

If Primal gets his weapons from a fossilizer maybe Blackarachnia can get some jaws/chelicerae fro m one to give her alt mode a bit more bite.

I'm kind of happy about that. While I don't mind it, I always felt that transforming was enough of a gimick to tide me over. I don't need anything else, I don't use it anyway. What I like best is transforming my toys back and forth. And from what I gather, that Dino can turn into weapons so since the beast wars figure have 5mm ports for fist holes, you can still equip them with parts.

I mean, I get it, but the weaponizng gimmick has easily been my favorite part of this trilogy, so, yeah gonna miss combining a museum exhibit with my maximals for some truly freaky stuff
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

If they enhance the figure and don't look like two upside down cars shoved together then I'm all for it.

What would be cool is if the fossil figures could wrap around the larger figures and work as an armour of sorts rather than plugging in somewhere and expecting kids to pretend pew pew's come out of their feet.
