Maybe there's someone out there who wants the blast effects but not the figure you can split it with?

I thought pterodactyls had tails while pteranodons do not. Looks more like a pteranodon, granted the crest isn't that big.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.
I didn't watch the end of the presentation so this is second hand information, but I saw a decent amount of people on TFW mention that the end of the presentation talked about a Fan First Friday in May. Good chance we see the Studio Series Dinobots thereSowndwave76 wrote:A little disappointed there weren't any reveals about future Leader Class Dinobots...

Wingfinger is definitely a pterodactyl (pterodactyl is Latin for 'wing finger', after all), a Pteranodon, and possibly even a female Pteranodon at that (due to the small head crest versus the generally larger crests you see on a typical Pteranodon).
Think of pterodactyl as a common name for all pterosaurs in general. To keep it simple....pterosaurs generally fall into two groups: rhamphorynchoids and pterodactyloids. The rhamphorynchoids are typically the ones with long tails (though not always) and teeth, while most pterodactyloids have short tails, and (in the case of the more advanced\derived species) are toothless.
So far to my knowledge, all Transformer toys\characters with pterosaur alt-modes are pterodactyloids, as pretty much all of them are based on Pteranodon (the exception being Beast Machines Skydive). Although...War for Cybertron Pteraxadon can be made to look much like a rhamphorhynchoid, if the axe handle is pulled out to act as a tail in pterosaur-mode.

But isn't a Pterodactyl also a specific genus with a single species?

Love this detailed alt-mode explanations, thanks
