God I hope not. It isn't that I don't want a Tidal Wave, its that I want a good Tidal Wave, not another re-purposed mold what really only gets 1 mode right-ish. The Arkbot doesn't have a boat mode, Tidal Wave doesn't have a spaceship mode. The only thing they have in common is the robot profile and even for that you have to sort of squint.

Last time they re-tooled a titan we got the disappointing Fort Max with all that unused potential inside the legs. I'd rather that not happen again.

"Mini Masterpiece" can be overused or even abused, but it's still a very valuable description for current Transformers toy collectors, especially now that toy design has advanced so far over the past several decades. I would definitely call many of the War for Cybertron Trilogy figures "Mini Masterpieces," like Earthrise Optimus Prime, Wheeljack, Bumblebee, Hoist, and Starscream, just to name a few. Others are merely "very good" modern toys. But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so whatever really impresses you can be a "Mini Masterpiece" of sorts.

The term "Mini Masterpiece" really just means a high quality figure of a character at a retail-line scale and price. That's what we've been getting lately from Hasbro and Takara Tomy. Your mileage may very, and the quality and value varies from figure to figure. The point is that we're coming up on a point where designs in the regular retail lines are catching up to the "Masterpiece" line, giving us very good looking figures in both robot and alternate modes, in a smaller scale, at a more affordable price. This is especially poignant as what Takara Tomy believes a "Masterpiece" figure entails has changed drastically over the past 20 years. We've changed scales, aesthetics, and articulation, to the point where a single character can costs hundreds of dollars. And they keep redoing older characters every time the line changes direction, so it feels like it will never really be finished. Many collectors, myself included, are cashing out of the Masterpiece line and "downsizing" to the much more affordable, space efficient, and complete "Generations" offerings in Transformers. Generations is quickly becoming the new standard of "definitive" modern Transformers collections.

My GenSelects SG Prime transforms almost exactly like my MP-10 SG Prime so mini-Masterpiece is quite literal in that regard. This just goes to prove your point in regards to the quality of mainline designs and engineering.

We just got a wholly disappointing Tidal Wave retool a few years ago, who would want another one?

My sincere hope is that Rodimus Prime is a 1 off for commander class because Warden/Hasbro just had to celebrate TFTM again with the Haslab Unicron coming out and there wasn't any other available slots to make a premium RP with complete trailer. I would have been fine with a leader and a bare bones trailer like OP, as I really only use them to complete the alt mode. I'm hoping next year it will be back to the big boys for commander class.

On that note, apparently my ER Optimus' trailer is a true G1 cartoon trailer. Only one time when OP was in bot mode I did use Megatron to blow the repair drone away. Most of the time it just disappears somewhere when everyone is in bot mode.

Well, after looking at this, I'm not convinced that they could do it and still have the separating sections. He may be a great REPAINT for some kitbasher, but that mold just won't work for a true Tidal Wave I don't think without an overly extensive retool that may be just too expensive to justify for HasTak.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Looks like Amazon is finally starting to ship out Kingdom wave 2. I have Dinobot and Inferno arriving Friday, still waiting on the deluxes. I found each locally at full price, but got everything on Amazon for a discount, so I'll be returning the ones from Amazon to Walmart with the full price receipt once they get here.

I like him quite a bit, which is weird because Grapple was just so meh to me and this is the same mold. It's amazing what a difference deco can make for a figure.

I think what doomed Grapple for me was the combo of a bland deco (too much yellow, needs more black or silver) and a fairly simple transformation. I can easily overlook 1 or the other, but not both.

Thanks for the heads up. Mine still say arriving May 5, but Inferno has a note saying "Release date: Wednesday, April 14, 2021". Hopefully I'll have them by the weekend!

We're on the same page...
I'm just now seeing these newer photos of Galvatron, and I cannot wait to have him.
A few of those poses just look so on point.

And I'm actually excited to see the Selects toy version colors on this guy!

I appreciate the early looks at Galvatron. Even so, it cheeses me off that people who 'pre-ordered' on Hasbro Pulse still have to wait until September, when these reviews clearly show the figure is 'done' and some people have it NOW.

There is no justice - believe me, I know!

There is no justice - believe me, I know!

If I see it in the store, I will cancel it on Pulse, so it's all good.

Same, except with Amazon... Target is listing July 1st as release dates. Amazon’s is Sept 1st...
I’ve had good luck with Amazon, so we’ll see what happens.
Pretty sure I’ll see them in store first... We’ll, maybe not the Ark.
