Motto: "They wanna play my emotions, but I'm like the ocean-- too calm to get upset by somebody's notion."
Weapon: Concussion Blaster Gun
Even though I still think the face sculpt could have been better, Rodimus is a pretty good looking figure.
But I still won't get him because that trailer and the accessories don't equal $40+ for me.
The inside of the trailer looks pretty bad with all of those peg holes, and both the cannon and the underside tray are pieces of filler. The whole thing would sit in a the box...
So while the figure's a legit voyager, and probably worth $40, I will probably never get him.
On sale at $60 and I'd still pass.

Definitely excited about Blaster... I'm assuming he'll be a re-tool of NF Soundwave.
But that's a bit unfortunate unless it's a major re-tool. His proportions should have relatively long legs.

I am anxious to see the Coronation SS... Even though I'm 99.99999% sure it'll be a hard pass.

If the Worlds Collide set includes NF Bee I'll be very tempted since I missed out.
Although I hope if he's included that his color is more of a Yellow and not so much Yellow-Orange.
But it'll all depend on who else is included and what the price tag is.
Maybe someone will be willing to do a split deal.

Well, for the past couple months all I've been seein are people wishing for Artfire & Blaster. Congratulations! You're getting what you wanted.

As for me? I guess I'll just sit here & wait another freakin decade to see if they'll ever make what I want. RANSACK, BARRAGE, VENOM, CHOP SHOP, SQUEEZEPLAY, FANGRY, HORRI-BULL & SLAPDASH. :( :-(

Year after year after year. Reveal after reveal. And still Nothin!!! :BANG_HEAD:

I guess I'll just sit here & play with my Titan Master heads of SQUEEZEPLAY, FANGRY, HORRI-BULL & wish they had bodies. Thanks Hasbro! Make the character's head but not it's body. That's always fun. GOOD THINKIN!

Same thing with my TR "Pretenders".
Where are my modern updates?

It may take years, but they'll get their turn.
Like it took 30 years for the Headmasters to come back.

Two things.

First, this guy is buy on sight. He just looks amazing.

Second, every time PvP says "Fantastic!" I get Ninth Doctor flashbacks and that's naturally....

.....wait for it........

Fantastic!
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Hmm, no. A defining characteristic of the character and the original toy does not qualify as filler. That would be like saying Roller is filler, or Soundwave's cassettes are filler.

The drawer or tray under the trailer is very much filler, and plastic usage to justify the price.

I'd say it's highly debatable if this cannon is a "defining characteristic" of this character.
Sure, it may have been a major part of the original toy, but it's a decent amount of plastic for what it is... It's not even that articulated.
Not to mention, comparing a lifeless weapon to any of Soundwave's cassettes is a ridiculous stretch.
That's not even the same sport, let alone the same ballpark.

Try looking at it this way. We know you don't really care about the cannon, neither do I (hell I don't really care about the trailer or RP in general that much). But imagine if Hasbro released a version with trailer, but no cannon. You or I probably wouldn't care much and if it made the figure cheaper, I'd be very pleased. But we would definitely be in the minority here. The screams from the many G1 fans that have been waiting for a good RP would be deafening.

Edit: PotP Rodimus Prime doesn't count as a RP with trailer but no cannon. That isn't a trailer, it is pants.

Maybe not Soundwave's minions, Burt surely his shoulder battery gun would be the equivalent.

Still it's an important part of him, which would have as mentioned garnered complaints if the Trailer had just been empty. The turret had to be there.

And it articulates as it has to. It rotates, tilts up and down, and has deployable handles. Not sure what else it needs to do?

Maybe some spring loaded missiles would have been nice, but Hasbro ain't doing those any more.

Stil I wouldn't say the cannon is filler at all.

I was pretty upset to see that ER Optimus's trailer was incomplete and that I had to pay an extra 200$ to complete it with stickers, Shapeways parts, and Roller from the Centurion set. For Rodimus Prime, I'm pretty damned happy to see that for once, he's COMPLETE and AFFORDABLE compared to the old MP option or getting a cheap version that needs 200$ of upgrades.

Anyone who wants their toys cheap and barebone, good for them. Just skip the "premium" versions. I'd rather pay 20$ more from the start for perfection than having to pay 200$ later for some exclusive that I have to import or third party upgrades.

Agreed 100%.

As much as like the Centurion set, and specially Prime's Long rifle, Axe and Roller it included, it would have been nice if they were included with Prime from the beginning which this Rodimus seems to be doing. Not only his trailer, turret and his long rifle there, but he gets a matrix, blast effects and the Sword of Primus for the entry price.

No need to buy an extra Pulse exclusive set. Which is not exactly easy for those of us not in the U.S.

Since Rodimus' trailer is AIRLOCK compatible, I'm going to see how it works when connected to other Modulators and TF's that have base modes. Also PvP said in his review something to the effect that he doesn't know if there is any way all the 5mm ports in the open trailer can be used. Challenge Accepted ;) .

Yup.

I can accept paying 25$us in shipping fee for Titan Scorponok. But this Canadian had to pay that same amount for the Centurion set! Total with taxes, almost 90$can!
Not counting the Shapeways pieces that are priced like solid gold.

Bless that COMPLETE Rodimus Prime!

To be honest, Earthrise Optimus wasn't even worth completing. That trailer is a complete joke & definitely scaled more for Huffer or a Legends class. If you want a real Optimus Prime to fit in your CHUG collection, get the KBB MP-10v & the trailer to go with it.

Just stick a bunch of the small blast effects in each port. Or accessories like that nozzle thing that comes with Grapple/Inferno & Siege Ratchet's wrench. CHALLENGE COMPLETE! ;)^

Exactly my point.

Once pimped out, my ER Optimus trailer is perfect, but I shouldn't have to go through that gauntlet.

That trailer is indeed really small, but still have good proportions. My issues were the lack of a Roller, the complete lack of paint, and the fact that the wheels look to be on "stilts". 200 or so dollars later and much work, it was perfect. But I would have rather have a COMMANDER Optimus Prime with a slightly bigger trailer with an overall design resembling closely to the G1 original. It would have been much cheaper overall and way less trouble.

It's all good, but I totally disagree with this... Without Soundwave's shoulder cannon he looks incomplete... No one sees Rodimus Prime without the trailer cannon and thinks, "Man, someone screwed up this image... I mean it pretty much looks like RP, but where's the trailer cannon???!?!?

I get there would be people who would miss it. And also, yeah, why just an empty trailer?
Part of my point is that it's nothing impressive. At all. In any way...
So is it literally part of the cost? Sure. Do I look at it and think, "No wonder this guy will be $80"? Hell no.
If that trailer is truly $40 worth of plastic, materials, design, and engineering... Fine.
But it sure doesn't LOOK like $40 worth.

I disagree completely with you here. If you breakdown the cost in a simplistic way as 50/50, that trailer DO look like it's "half the cost". It's big, have many moving parts, nice paint all over, and look FULL.

Just compare once again with ER Optimus Prime and do the same ratio. Optimus's trailer that is small, empty, barely any paint, a literal bread box with just a tiny "gun" inside certainly is not worth the cost of a whole voyager figure. Not even the "micromachine" Roller. Yet that was it'S price.

With the Commander Rodimus Prime's trailer, not only do the look of the vehicle is just right, it also take the COMPLETE looks and functions of the G1 toy and then some.
Just imagine if they'd ever do a new Megatron that transform into a gun, complete with it's silencer and stock that would convert into the big canon like the original G1 toy. High chances that Megs would be "Commander" as well.

Just to piggyback on some other comments.... there was a Legends Chop Shop during CW, which was a retool of T30 Skrapnel, but yeah, the other Deluxe Insecticons are long overdue I agree, especially since 2 of them could also have been retooled from the other legends class Insecticons.

As for parts, price, are they worth it? The debate I don't think will ever end, especially as prices continue to rise. I'm glad to have picked up ER Prime for about $40, because that is what I think it was worth. Additionally, I don't think CC Rodimus is worth more than $60, but we will see.

Walmart stupidly put CC Jetfire at 1/2 off, and never restocked CC. Getting Skylynx at Target wasn't too hard, but never went on sale. I do think Amazon had a brief sale, but both CC sold very well. Getting CC Rodimus on sale is no guaranty, even though I don't personally think it is worth it. A Great $50-$60 toy, not $80 is all I am saying.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

I totally agree with this...

Also this. At $60, who knows, maybe I'd try to sell the trailer for $25.
I'd be okay with having that RP for $35.
But I don't really think this will ever happen.

I'm also really, really good with SS86 Hot Rod... I never loved RP anyway.

Maybe not an image, but a toy for sure. It wasn't part of his character on the cartoon, but it was the only interesting thing about the original toy. Optimus Prime was a good figure on his own, he was still a good truck toy, had lots of articulation for the time, was fun to play with and that's before you got to his trailer. Rodimus was skinny, only had shoulder articulation, looked lousy without his trailer, and had a simpler transformation than many smaller figures. To get any real joy out of Rodimus in either mode you needed that trailer. And that stuck, a modern Rodimus Prime (that doesn't incorporate its trailer into its bot mode) is not worth owning without that trailer canon IMO, it would be a step backwards from '86.

I'm with ya bro, you should join me and the MP Armada guy when we storm Hasbro HQ.
