Correct, and it really isn't even articulated. It looks like it is on a hinge, but it is actually fixed in place. I'm thinking they must have wanted to make the gut gun go where it should, but couldn't make it work. Possibly ended up with something non-workable on the crotch for robot mode.

The bigger question in my mind is why did the put a face on the crotch?

Actually, it will move on that pin joint, but it doesn’t really have the clearance to swing out fully due to how the rest of the figure was designed. Maybe it was intended to flip up to give greater range of movement to the robot mode legs, primarily to do a high kick, like they’ve done for other recent War for Cybertron figures, but for whatever reason, that functionality was dropped, but it remained in the design, at least partially.

It will technically move a tiny bit, yes, but I wouldn't recommend trying to move it. The "loin cloth" appears to be 2 pieces, the blue part is pinned through the actual crotch part and the white part I believe is just glued on the blue part. However, the way the blue part of the "loin cloth" fits with the white part of the crotch it is pinned through is clear that it is not intended to move. If it was intended to flip up, they would have needed a rounded edge on the back portion of the blue part so that it has clearance to rotate within the white part, it does not have that clearance meaning that joint was not intended to move, at least not based on the final design.

I remember some people having an issue with huffer bowing in the middle causing not all the wheels to roll. Not sure if that's related to your issues, I never really noticed anything on my copy.

The Huffer mold does have enough clearance when everything is tabbed in correctly. You are likely missing something in the transformation. The arms have to be lined up just right and tab in multiple places to the rest of the truck.

As far as I can tell, the arms are tabbed into his waist, and the tabs on the back of the cab. Still the front tires are floating above the ground.

But I think It's not scraping against the shoulder panel, I was wrong there, but against the hole it pegs into. Switched the tires, and the issue changed places. So I assume its the tire peg, that's a bit thicker on one tire than the other.

However, it still not clear to me why it's not touching the ground.

Okay, that is weird. If the problem switched sides, then I definitely think it is the tire peg that or maybe the tire diameter on that specific tire that is the issue. Fortunately you have potentially an easy fix. The front tires are the same as the back, so you can try swapping it to the back and see if the problem is lessened enough where things will roll without the clearance needed for the chest.

You look like you have everything transformed properly as compared to my Huffer when what I can tell. There is not much clearance for his chest to begin with.

Images from Hobbymizer's Facebook page show that Kingdom Hot Rod and the Beast Wars Scorponok rerelease have reached Hong Kong. There are several in hand images of Hot Rod giving us the best look yet at the figure.
Some of the hollow bits might annoy fans but there is quite a bit more paint than people may have assumed.

oof. guess where going back to the tradition of hot rod toys being not stellar. well, at least we got one good one out of kingdom!

The hollow parts don't bother me, especially since the head won't be visible unless you're standing directly behind him and have the back part folded down.

I think the article title should be corrected lol

That Hot Rod is not too bad, at least for $10. I'll probably pick him up and keep him in robot mode mostly, I'm not impressed with the car mode.

Even if that were the case, seeing it like that shouldn't be a deal-breaker to anyone, unless hollow heads are a feature one absolutely dislikes on a figure. And if that's the case, the rest of the figure could look like a masterpiece and that person should still pass on it, because of the hollow head.

Point is, there's nothing wrong with showing the hollow head, or even highlighting it.

Hot Rod looks fine. The hollow head is super weird, but not something you will be seeing normally.

I’m guessing the peg on the spoiler is for the sword.

Also anybody notice the sword in the package art is entirely different to the one he actually comes with?

Yeah, I have nothing against this figure. We are a news site and the news here was that these pics showed angles we had not seen before. So it only made sense to highlight the most newsworthy aspect.
