War for Cybertron Trilogy figures you'd like to see

Postby SiegeFan » Wed Nov 06, 2019 5:02 pm

Hi, I'm new here and if a thread like this already exists please let me know!

I'm just curious to know which WFC figures you'd like an appearance from, whether Earth alt modes, IDW influences, whatever... so in no particular order here's mine:

Drift
Blaster (IDW specifically)
Kup
Skids
The Dinobots
Onslaught
Swindle
Bludgeon
Blitzwing
Metroplex

Who would you like to see in the WFC Trilogy line? :RUBSIGN:

I would love to see:

    A Quintesson Prosecutor to go along with the newly revealed Quints
    Blurr
    Kupp
    Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge
    Earthmode Blaster/Twincast and his tapes
    Autobot Targetmasters (Pointblank, Crosshairs, etc.)
    Starsaber
    Earthmode Ratchet and Ironhide
    Earthmode Soundwave

Here is my big want:
Titan Class Set of all 5 G1 Dinobots in proper Sunbow scale. I really feel they can pull this off. It would basically be all the same plastic and paint color usage among the 5 member team. Predaking was a bit compromised, but the Dinobots don't combine so there aren't extra parts they need to account for. Also the WFC scale is smaller than previous lines so they don't need to be drastically too big.

Now that all the big Titans are done, I feel this set would sell the best. I know I would by two of them.

I say this with all seriousness, not because I'm a raging fanboy.

The Predators and Turbomasters.

They're bordering on obscure, but open your eyes Hasbro, how many of the white CW Optimus Prime's were used as a foundation for Thunderclash?

The fans are out there, they're different characters from the same 84 & 85 casts that you keep rehashing and people are starting to get sick of.

For a franchise about change, it's time to take a leap and change up what characters are used.

Nuts to the idea of a Dinobot boxset. I think the best thing to do for bigger versions of Slag, Sludge, Snarl, and Swoop would be to release them individually, and 1 or 2 per year.

SiegeFan, Swindle and Onslaught are covered by Combiner Wars. Or Unite Warriors, if you can stomach UW Bruticus' stupid chestplate.

I think Blitzwing, Galvatron, Blurr, and Scourge were covered fairly well by Titans Return. Cyclonus could do with the Universe mold being trotted out again, though, it's been a bit.. Kup was also covered decently by Titans return, although a US release of the Legends retool with the rounded arms wouldn't go amiss. I think far more important than revisiting them would be:
* Cartoon-accurate Wreck-Gar
* Leader-class Rodimus Prime done in the manner of Earthrise Leader Optimus (Voyager cab robot, battle station trailer - or camper shell, in Roddy's case).

I would only want Earth-mode versions of Ratchet and Ironhide if they split like the original toys (and ideally, were made Headmasters - just for laughs). Otherwise the SIEGE versions will suffice and earth mode versions would just be slot hogs.

I do want Blaster, and perhaps an Earth Mode Soundwave (although I have seen a fairly close tape player fan mode for the SIEGE version).

Other wants:
* The Autobot Targetmasters, especially Sureshot and Pointblank
* Lightfoot/Getaway, Road King/Slapdash, and Ranger/Joyride. As new molds. Well, Lightfoot could be a retool of Universe Sideswipe, but other than that...
* Retail versions of Titans Return Arcee and Grotusque
* G1 Sandstorm
* Skids and Crosscut
* Tracks and Road Rage.
* Another attempt at Dreadwind, possibly as a reshell of Combiner Wars Drag Strip/Mirage instead of using an Aerialbot mold.
* Commander-class Ultra Magnus
* Commander-class Overlord. With all the base mode bells and whistles of the original toy.
* Brave Maximus/RiD Fortress Maximus made using the Titans Return Fort Max mold but retooled with new lower legs to make the city mode more accurate (which would hopefully get the 3P slackers off their hinies and working on a kit to bring Fort Max and Grand Max up to that accuracy level).

Big wants:
* Weapon and accessory packs, to complete the accessory sets that individual figures only have half of
* Battlemasters that actually resemble the G1 Targetmaster Partners (Every SIEGE version of them other than Firedrive, Blowpipe, and maaaybe Misfire is a write-off, and even those have issues).
* A Metroplex reissue. The eBay prices on him are ouch.
WANT:
* Cybertron Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Cyb Jetfire R gun and missile
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* DotM Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* ROTF Jetfire R JTFR panel

I agree that a Metroplex reissue is due. And since the mold is dusted off, might as well do Metrotitan. Takes care of the Titans for '21 and '22.

As for smaller figures, definitely Blaster should be high on Warden's list, with or without his tapes, and I would love to see Fangry, Squeezeplay and Horri-bull done, as well as Overdrive, Dogfight and Backstreet. And remembering these 3, they should have made Optimus' Cybertron mode the truck from the Underbase saga in Siege. Then moving on to the Firecons: Cindersaur, Sparkstalker and Flamefeather. Then do Sizzle, Fizzle and Guzzle.

After those, bring on some properly done Pretenders, both Bot and Con.

And if we ever move on from G1, the Titan figure for 2023 should be Armada Tidal Wave. Commander class is not big enough for him. Actually I would like Metrotitan and Tidal Wave as the next 2, and then a 10th anniversary Metroplex in '23. That way the same mold isn't used 2 years in a row.

IMO a huge Tidal Wave would be better achieved comparatively, with bitty versions of the rest of the Armada cast.

Forgot to mention the 1988 Headmasters. I really want to see them done, including the helmets for the Autobots.

For the Pretenders... I'd want to see them ditch the "Stick a robot in a shell" gimmick and do Deluxe-class versions of the inner robots while the shells were made into a companion action figure line.

I know. I'm just wishful thinking. :(

I wonder which cast WFC part 3 will have: season 3 or some of the characters from the Japanese trilogy (Headmasters/Masterforce/Victory)?

So you want the inner bot and the shell to be 2 separate figures? Wouldn't that take up too much shelf space in stores?

Maybe, although they could drop some of the garbage bass-ackwards barely-articulated 12"ers from other lines to make room :P
Also, the shells would be free to be 3" or 4" figures and thus have smaller packages. And I think both robot and disguise would be the better for the separation.

Part 3 is probably going to be Movie/Season 3 and 1987-8 (and maybe 1989) cleanup.

And I forgot a point about reissuing Metroplex: he would need to be retooled with ramp connectors.

I do like the idea of the shell and inner bot being sold separately, but I would do it the other way. Make the shell deluxe and the bot legends class. Or if it's financially feasible, the shell voyager and the bot a deluxe, and have the smaller bot actually fit inside the bigger one, like an actual pretender.

Though my idea would be to sell both of them in 1 set at either size (voyager/deluxe or deluxe/legends) even if the price was a bit higher due to more plastic being used.

That would be a pretty great way to piss off people that already have Metroplex. Better to just be a straight re-release, there aren't any good spots to put ramps anyway.

1. Then let them be pissed off, even though it's a function that 3P upgraders could do a cheap kit to add to a baseline figure - if they actually had an incentive to get off their lazy butts.
2. There are good points - the heliport and the sides and tips of his leg decks. Almost as if the sides and tips of those platforms on the G1 Metroplex design were designed for connecting bases... And adding the connectors would help him fit in with the trilogy that little bit more.

Rodimus Prime wrote:I do like the idea of the shell and inner bot being sold separately, but I would do it the other way.
I wouldn't. I prefer the idea of their true form being the same size as their peers, and the human (or animal, or humanoid monster) disguise being smaller.
Rodimus Prime wrote:Make the shell deluxe and the bot legends class. Or if it's financially feasible, the shell voyager and the bot a deluxe, and have the smaller bot actually fit inside the bigger one, like an actual pretender.
The problem with that is that unless the shell was done as multipart armor or a vinyl-and-fabric costume, it would be just as bricky as the shells of old.

Good voyagers for Galvatron and Cyclonus. A good, voyager class Rodimus Prime. He needs to match up with Galvatron. He doesn't need to become Hot Rod.

I wouldn't mind seeing recolours we've never seen in deluxe form before. I'm thinking Road Rage, Exhaust, Detrius, and Hauler. I don't think I'll buy those moulds unless they're in a form I don't already have.

Rodimus doesn't need to become Hot Rod, but he does need to turn into the Rodebago. And in order to do that while having his robot mode match up to Galvatron, he needs to be a Leader-class. Otherwise you're going to end up with an upscale of the crappy Titanium Series figure.

Galvatron already had a good Voyager, IMO: The Titans Return figure. The only things it really needs are to replace the forearm fins with folding mounts for his cannon (or for the cannon base to be modified with a foldout mounting clamp that slips over the fins) so that it can be mounted in a cartoon-accurate fashion (and without blocking his elbow), and for the face mask to A. be a better fit for the underlying faceplate and B. lose the spring-loading so that the springs don't block him from having full head rotation. I mean, I guess you could change the head to integrated if you really had to but eh. I think he's overall a good figure already.

Cyclonus doesn't strictly need a Voyager figure, for my money. It wouldn't hurt, but I don't think it's necessary.

Far more important than retreading Galvatron, in my opinion, is a new, cartoon-based Wreck-Gar. Hot Rod, Kup, Springer, Arcee, Wheelie, Blurr, Cyclonus, and Scourge have all had cartoon-based dedicated toys made. Wreck-Gar has had the RTS toy (which redesigned him), a headswap retool of CW Legends-class Groove, and a retool of CW Afterburner.

I also want to see a Greenlight reissue.

I could list off a bunch of "wishful thinking" figures I'd like, but since WFC is almost exclusively G1, I'll keep it realistic.

I'd like to see a new Skids and a new Gears/Swerve mold, because A) they could use more G1 accurate figures, and B) so people dump Legends Skids and T30 Swerve on the secondary market for more reasonable prices.

I'd also like to see a new Drift, for similar reasons as Skids and Swerve. But I think Drift is less likely to happen.

I'd also really like a new-mold, IDW accurate Nautica, and the recent surge of female transformers getting toys coupled with how big a fan favorite she is makes me think this could actually happen at some point.

Leader lass figures are voyagers figures with extra stuff now, so sure. That's fine. As long as Roddy is a voyager in robot mode and doesn't try to be Hot Rod too I'm good. I actually liked the Titanium, even if there were some missteps in the deign.

Sorry, man, but I have to disagree with you on Titans Return Galvatron being good. He's more along the lines of being barely acceptable. Yes, he's a voyager. Yes, he's G1. But that's all he's got. Barely passable. I have a sense I may have had this exact same conversation with you.

Ditto on Cyclonus - right now we have CW Cyconus and he's just ... there. He's certainly the right height. But, like Galvy, being the right height and G1 is all he has. I think he's due for a voyager figure that's better than his old deluxe.

I'm good with RTS Wreck-Gar.

But, yeah, all these are just our opinions. Like I'm, personally fine with the old Wreck-Gar mould I have. It's fine to want a more G1 version. I may get ONE if they make it. Maybe. But I won't dispute your own desire to want one.

I'll toss in Armada Wheeljack as a guy I wouldn't mind seeing a return. I like his scratched out Decepticon logo.

Dinobot 2 would be cool. I brought out the original yesterday and I still like the bone raptor design. I know unlikely. Don't care, my list my rules.

Arblus and Kranix. We're digging deep here. Wouldn't mind seeing them out to fill out my "nobodies".

Guiltar. The Megatron / Optimus Prime / Starscream hybrid everyone's forgotten about. That guy's out there just dying to be made.

They've already done so many guys already ...

Re: Cyclonus: I didn't say he didn't need a new Voyager, I said he didn't need a Voyager :P The inconsistency over his size in the cartoon has always made him feel smaller to me, so I'm okay with the Universe Deluxe (and a Deluxe would be more army-building friendly... assuming they could still sell that at the Deluxe price..). I agree that the Combiner Wars version is lacking. Yeah, I mean scratched out Autobot logo, lol.

I get that you like TR Galvy. I do. Maybe your tweaks could have improved him. But he has none of them. He is what he is. I like his size. I like that he's G1. He has passible articulation. That's ... it. Give me a Galvatron as good as Seige Prime is to Prime. good articulation. A design not hindered by the need for a spring loaded crown. I have Mania King and I'd like HasTak to outshine that.

Cyclonus needs a voyager. You can make the "animation error" argument if you like, but if we're talking about what TFs we'd like to see I'd like a good voyager Cyclonus. He was kind of more of a leader in the cartoon than Galvatron was. Bonus points if his wings can do wither of his animation model's configuration - one can be him and another his "armada." I was fine with Universe for a long time. But we have voyagers / small leaders of most of the main Decepticons. Deluxe size no longer cuts it for me.

While we're at it - deluxe class Incecticons. The Lagands class is fine, but I want deluxe.

lol, this is supposed to be the things we'd like to see.

I know the Insecticons were supposed to be small ... but I think Legends is too small.

Actually, I dislike all the minibots actually being mini. It was because they were from another toyline; they shouldn't be tiny cars. The fixed that with a lot of them. The only reason they don't make my list is because I already have 3rd party versions I like.

I just want to see the Omnibots, Star Saber, Deathsaurus, and Earthrise Hauler and Artfire. Plus IDW Rodimus, Nautica, Nightbeat, Magnus, Getaway, and Megatron.

Ah, yes! Nightbeat really needs an update, especially one that's titan master compatible. I definitely agree with all those, but I don't think we'll get many IDW figures in WFC, except maybe Nautica. Hopefully in the next trilogy though, because there were so many great designs in IDW. Voyagers of IDW Optimus and Megatron, especially MTMTE Megs, would instant buys.

On the bright side, we already got an IDW Ultra Magnus in Combiner Wars. :D

Being a comic fan, I would love to see a voyager Straxus, especially with a correct alt mode.
