What happened to split screen co op?!

I'm going to be honest, playing games online is starting to piss me off.

Not because of little kids being annoying, or team mates shooting me.

But because split screen co op is now almost non existent.

I know Halo and Kane & Lynch have split screen co op, but most games lack this feature these days.

Do they not realize some people would rather play with someone that is physically there and not some asshole on the other side of the country?

I always preferred my two player games being played with somebody in the room with me. I don't really like playing video games online, it takes some of the fun out of it for me.

I compromise. My group of friends is just nerdy enough that we can host LAN parties regularly. It's the best of both worlds. Each of us gets our own screens and we're still in the same room.

As far as on consoles, the split-screen was a flawed design merely because the images simply had to be condensed, compressed, or skewed depending on how it was split. It's fun, but only on a screen large enough that everyone can actually see what's going on.

A-men to LAN parties. I have something similar, I own 3 x-box's(2 original 1 360), all our friends have x-boxes so we get them all together and have huge Halo 2 parties.

Then sometimes we hook up our computers and bust out with Starcraft and Warcraft 3.
