What if High Moon Studios did this?

So the title piqued your curiosity, eh? An idea camne to me yesterday: what if High Moon Studios made a second Transformers game...on G1 Earth! I think this would be a dream come true for everyone. After the TF3 game is made, I could see a summer 2012 release date for a new Transformers game. In the game, I'd like to see:

-A multitude of playable G1 characters that have never been seen in a video game before (like Prowl, Wheeljack, and the Constructicons, save for Long Haul)

-All the characters in their original G1 forms; make it seem like 1984.

-Environments based on the original cartoon, such as the Ark, Dinobot Island, Downtown Portland, and the valley where the Decepticon space bridge is.

-Levels based on original episodes of the cartoon.

So...what do you think?

In total fantasy land, I would have loved a button that would swap out skins for different TF styles.

Push a button, and make everyone a cel-shaded G1 character.
Push a button, and make everyone a Bayformer.
Push a button, and make everyone TFAnimated.

Maybe this is a job for an entrepreneurial modder.

I have sort of mixed opinions about this. It would be fun, but I'd rather see a free roam sequel Transformers WFC game where you travel the galaxy in search of a new planet. You could leave each planet whenever you want, fly into space and everything. A whole open solar system with at least 4 planets. Thats my idea for the perfect Transformers game.

If I was in charge I would do that.

Any more "War for Cybertron" material will just be DLC (downloadable content). Just put out some mini-campaigns set in the broken wasteland of shut-down Cybertron. The players scroung for energy before you starve while taking shots at the Decepticons. Sounds pretty grim, in fact. Has a sort of Terminator/Mad Max feel to it.

But, the big thing is to move straight into sequel territory with Transformers: War for Earth.

The only thing is I would NOT change the controls for the game. I would still allow the cars to strafe sideways and jets to hover. After all, once you start shooting you've blown your cover. Having the car wheels turn 90 degrees in their wheel wells is fine with me (but not default to hover cars). Or just have guns on turrets so you can shoot sideways and always drive forward. Tanks obviously are easy to do this, but cars and planes can have really small turrets.

I would add two other things to the gameplay. I would have most of the human race not automatically accept ANY of the Transformers as friends (some do, like Spike and Sparkplug Witwicky). The good guys have to go back into hiding after they help out, because I think it is more plausible that humans would want to capture all Transformers, disarm them, and then only after a few years let them out. There would be missions where you have to "sneak" and not do anything like strafe sideways as a car or break the speed limit, or hover as a jet. Those will blow your cover and fail the mission.

I would say it would be hard to hide the fact Transformers are here on Earth. The first Transformer walking around in public is going to be on TV in no time flat. You just can't find them later because they can be anywhere or anything. The "Hiding in plain sight" element should be used and justified. That is the whole point of copying human vehicle shapes. If Autobots were allowed to operate in the open, they wouldn't bother with copying human vehicles. Just like Superman or Spiderman, they are heroes with secret identities they need to keep concealed until the day people get used to them and trust them.

The other thing to add is Gestalt characters like Devastator. I would let three players merge up with a few NPC characters to form the "Big Guy". The first player drives the bot and has some offensive power, but the other two guys are the arms making them turret gunners with more firepower. In effect this is the vehicle combat you see in other games like Battlefield 1942 and Bad Company. Multiple players operating one vehicle. The NPC characters are just the unmanned "tank" sitting around waiting for players to use it.

Really?
I think the human population would be pretty divided on how to respond. Some would be afraid of them and want to disarm them, and some would want to exploit them. But I think there would be plenty of people on both sides of politics arguing for robots' rights.

Well, the thing is I want a game that makes the core thing about Transformers make sense.

They turn into human shaped vehicles.

Ok, why?

Because they want to blend in. It is a covert disguise, pure and simple. Probably to hide from the human race, as there won't be that many Transformers on Earth.

Optimus Prime has made the call that proper diplomacy with humans has to put off until later. The first priority is to stop Megatron.

I wasn't trying to imply that I want the human race to be portrayed as mostly bad guys. Actually, I think the best way to handle that would be for them to always show up after the fight is over. Have the Autobots calmly driving away from the scene of the Decepticon crime they just stopped while cop cars are driving in with lights flashing at the end of some missions.

And for God's sake don't do what Revenge of the Fallen did. Thousands of people saw the fight at the end of the first movie. You cannot hide that. Also, don't have the Autobots sign up as covert military operatives. Optimus needs to be in charge of his Autobots. They do their thing independantly, fight the Decepticons in public (makes the evening news and everything), but go back into hiding as just another car on the street.

I really just want a TF MMORPG. Different planets with differing alt-modes to unlock through quest plot-lines, various design-styles on them and a nice mix of G1 and other universe characters into a cohesive whole. Seems unlikely of course, but it's possibly the dream game I'd love to play.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

I'd be impressed if High Moon could patch their game, let alone release a sequel.

PS3 has received no game updates at all. They also continue to have no working contact information for their studio. It's unacceptable.
