What older games you have that you want to play but haven't

Postby Baseball Tonight » Fri Jul 13, 2007 6:23 pm

Three older games that I have in my collection and want to play but haven't yet are: Final Fantasy IX (PS1), Red Faction (PS2), and Time Splitters (PS2).

Omega Boost for the PSX. I bought it new off eBay for $3.00 and never played it. Though I loved the demo.

And Tomba. Well actually I started in on that one then forgot I had it.

Tomba is an awesome game! It's probably my favorite PS1 platformer, although it plays kind of like an adventure game (like Simon's Quest).

I played a demo for the PSX space shooter Einhander, from back when Square was still Squaresoft.

It was a really good shooter, though it was one of those "One hit and DIE" games.

That's a sweet game! Probably the best non-rpg game that Square made.

Easily one of the hardest games I've ever played. And I've beaten Tetris before!

Hell just the second level boss is almost impossible to defeat. He shoots laser beams that crisscross in the area you're flying while he fires missiles that seek your position. So you get to try to maneuver in a 20 foot area in a small circle. Really sucks.

I'd pretty much love to find time to just go through all my old N64 games and play DK64, Jet Force Gemini, both Banjo Kazooie games, etc. I've beaten them all, but its still fun to replay them. As for games I've bought but never played/beaten, the only ones really left unfinished are my fighting games (save for SCII) and Rampage: Total Destruction.

The game I want to play at the moment is Steel Battalion. I haven't played it in a while and really want to break it out but pulling out the old xbox and assembling the controller it too much like hard work. Here is an image of the controller(which is bigger than my house  , well ps3 anyway)

Sounds like the same reason i don't play my DDR games. My room has very little floorspace so I have to disassemble my console, take it to the living room, set everything up, and then hope no one sees me flailing around to music. Opportunities are low and setup time is a factor.

Well it doesn't take too long to set up as the pad is in 3 section that just need to be connected by the attached ribbon cables, but as I said the controller is massive. The box in that photo is about 0.4m(H) x 0.4m(W) x 0.5m(L)
heres a shot for scale, the tv is a 21 inch Image

I remember seeing a demo of that on Cinematech. I wanted it so bad after that, but I never had the money.

As for Tomba, I had a demo for it, and it was hella good.

Trust me, I'm well aware of the size. A friend of mine got the game and we spent most of the night driving that thing.

Yeah I got lucky getting it myself, there are only about 100 copies in the country and cost €200, a sum of money that i was completely unable to afford at the time. Lucky for me that Virgin got a copy in and had it mispriced at €100.

Locust its good to see another person who has witnessed its awesomeness. Pity the online version, Line of Sight, didn't last very long.

Steel Battalion looks awesome. I just want to play it once in my life time :P

Aside from that. I don't buy games that i'm not going to play. So this topic doesn't apply to me at all :P

I just thought of one I own but haven't played:

Murakumo.

Not the best game ever, but it has heart. I've played maybe three missions out of something around twenty, but I haven't played in a long time.

That's kind of the beauty (and curse) of a lot games of the last decade. I just takes a long while to beat them, but in the meantime you're still buying games.

I finally got around to playing Suikoden III (PS2). I've sunk 102 hours into it, and (without reading any FAQs or Strategy guides) I estimate I'm finished between 1/2 to 2/3 of the game.

Back in the NES days, you could finish most games in one sitting.

Back then, you had to. Most games didn't have saves back then so most of the early games couldn't last more than 2 hours.

You gashdurn kids with yer gatdang saves! Back in MY day, we didn't have these new-fangled memory cards. We either didn't save, or, in the case of games such as Legend of Zelda, saved directly to the cartridge!

And whatever happened to cartridges? That's why so many kids have asthma! They didn't get their lungs strengthened by blowing on the gashdurn cartridges!
