What TF creation myth does everyone follow?

Postby BlackSilverBot » Sun Sep 28, 2008 9:36 pm

What TF creation myth does everyone choose to believe in.

1. "The One" created Unicron and Primus, then from there Primus created the rest.

2. The Quintessons created everything.

3. The Allspark created everything.

4. What is your own universe's belief of their creation?

In my personal universe, Quintesson scientists created the Allspark, then used the Allspark cube to create everything else. There is no Unicron and Primus btw, only the Cybertron planet. Also, I made "the one" creation story a "myth" that the Originals of the Cybertronians gave to the Cybertron population in order to hide the knowledge of the Allspark. This is just in my universe though. I'm still working hard on it.

THe Quintessons lost a lot of popularity mostly because Hasbro never went further with them.

I think the most widely used myth is the Unicron Primus story.

First, Takara created the Micromachines (?), and the Diaclones.

Then these two distinct but similar civilizations, seeing the impending demise of their own universes, and at the same time, goaded by Hasbro, migrated to the Land of the Free, boarded the Saturn rockets, and blasted into deep space, to start a new civilisation in a new planet they now call Cybertron.

And then they travel thru time, back to 4 million years ago, to start an epic Cybertronian War.

I think i'll stick to the Matrix at the moment.

I would like to think that someone or some team created the allspark in a non-diety type way and that the allspark created the transformers and cybertron.
I have never cared for exceptionally large planet sized robots. There are just way too many tf universes and one answer really doesn't work for all, but I gave you my best pick.

I have my own G1 universe in which this race called the Ancients emerged about 1 million years ago got into a huge war with the Quintisons. The Ancients built Cybertron and as they died out they converted their brains into robotic bodies and eventually build living robots who evolved into Cybertronians. Also the Ancients created the Matrix which holds the key to creating new sparks. This is my prehistory.

Well thats why in my personal universe the Quintesson scientists created the Allspark after studying the substance of energon. To me that makes perfect sense.
The idea of planet size robots I think is pretty cool, however with Unicron and Primus its obvious they're foreplaying christianity.
So that just ruins everything. I even took my Primus toy and gave him a totally new name and character.

I like your universe, it sounds promising. It sounds different, and what we need is diversity. But the only thing I see is...the Ancients emerged only 1 million years ago? You could add a 0 to that 1 and make it 10 million. Might stretch it out a little more.
Way to go man.

Honestly I see the Unicron Primus story going down hill, even though it is still popular among fans.

Ah, Transformers mythology. I prefer not to think too much about it, but I like the Unicron/Primus story. That's the one I always use. It'll be interesting to see how the Movie expounds on it though.

Well, we already know the creation myth of the movie, that is, the Allspark created everything. Seeing how there is The Fallen in it, we might see Primus and Unicron in this universe, however...it will not be "the one" who created anything.
Michael Bay from my observation doesn't like religious explanations, so he will make this scientific.
In my personal universe, Quintesson scientists created the Allspark when it started from there, and I personally believe this makes the most sense. I'm sure other fans have the same idea and included it in their own universe, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who stands on this myth. I do know that Bay will not accept the christian understanding of god and devil -- Primus and Unicron. But again we just don't know. Hopefully the 07 universe will not include Unicron and Primus, who don't even exist in my universe.

I know this is going to sound weird... but I don't ascribe to any of the canonical origin stories. I like Quintessions as a species, and Unicron and Primus as characters, but I actually prefer not knowing exactly where the Transformers come from.

There's a sense in that line. Not knowing the exact origin gives it a measure of mystery. Makes you focus more on the action at hand.

ET never explained how their race came about. And it was a big hit.

Superman didn't explain the Kryptonian origin. Only how it ended.

I mostly use a hybrid Marvel Comix/Cartoon(pre-season 4) continuum.

When the universe was young there were two great beings at war. The nobel being (Primus), knew that he was unable to defeat the other warring factor. So Primus bound both he and his nemesis(Unicron)to prison in rouge barren giant space rocks.

To escape his nemesis, Primus went dormant. However, before he turned completely off, he began replicating his defense system...AKA Transformers. He knew that one day Unicron would find him to finish their battle. Primus hoped that before that would happen his "offspring" would find a way to stop Unicron. Inside his first...PRIMA...He installed the ability to create and mould their barren prison rock known as Seibertron.

With the help of the creation Matrix and many many Millennia, we come to the story of the robots we all know and love...The Transformers. Who after such a long time have become war like.

I can dig that the Quints inhabited Seibertron for awhile, however they didn't create the TF's they only used them.

The creation Matrix was well hidden for a number of years. Unfortunately we know what happened once Primus was awakened and his "Primal Scream" brought Uni back.

From here, things get to convoluded. There are too many divergent story lines. However, I use a blended storyline, Cartoon (US/Japan) and Comix (G1/G2/UK) to go forward.

I like your hybrid belief, I respect that. In my personal opinion I think Primus is stronger than Unicron. I personally don't see him in need of creating a lot of transformers to defend himself, since these transformers are like flea size to even Unicron. Primus is also a lot bigger than Unicron. But I know there might be many things that I'm not looking at from your eyes, and you have your good reasonings, so I respect that.

Personally, I think it does TFs a great misjustice to leave out religious elements. Humans have a variety of religions. I find it laughable that a civilization as old as Cybertron would not have developed any form of spirituality.

That said, I tend to follow the Primus/Unicron origin story, but I'm unwilling to leave the Quintessons out of the equation entirely, as I find them to be a very interesting species (one of few non-Cybertronian species in TFs that I actually like). So, for my purposes, the Quintessons came to Cybertron shortly after its creation, enslaved the Original 13 and any other young Cybertronians, disabled their ability to reproduce, and began manufacturing them as robot slave labor on a large scale. Of course, somewhere along the line, the slaves were reminded of their heritage and revolted, kicking the Quints off Cybertron. Thereafter, some Cybertronians took issue with catering to an invisible deity, feeling they had traded one form of slavery for another, and thus began the First Cybertronian War.

I agree. Those are probably the biggest reasons I like that approach: the stories tend to feel both more immediate and more like pieces of a larger world.

Ok, I understand what you're saying about the religious elements. But here's the thing, it is obvious that the Unicron/Primus creation myth is christian, thats a given. So this is sorta promoting 1 religion, when there's hundreds and hundreds of different religions out there. Its sort of like the pledge in schools -- since for some reason there cannot be a pledge saluting all gods, instead of just one, then it is ethical to not have any pledge at all in public schools -- same with transformers -- best not to promote any obvious religious elements than to only promote one. That said, I am personally a pagan, and find the Primus/Unicron myth (which is obvious christian based) offending. So in the public eye, things that are highly public (such as transformers) should appeal to either all religions or philosophies....or none at all (which is much easier). But this is just my opinion, and I'm sure many agree with me. I respect your opinion however. We can't all agree, that would be boring.

Creation myths aren't just Christian. There are many cultures who have creation myths, and ones that involve a creator/destroyer too.

You probably only see it as Christian-based because that's what you know.
