How tall was Fortress Maximus? How tall was Metroplex? Which is more powerful?

Metroplex, he's a sizeable chunk of a cybertronian sized city.

Fortress Maximus is big but he's Omega Supreme big.

cartoon-wise yeah, Metroplex is bigger, but toy-wise Max is larger I think.

Toy-wise Fort Max was waaaay bigger. But if you follow the G1 animation, Metroplex is bigger.

Yeah.

Basically, Fort Max is pretty small, character-wise. He is a headmaster of a headmaster. In other words, he is, ultimately, human. Or Nebulan, whatever. If it's Galen wearing the exosuit, he's Nebulan. If it's adult Spike Witwicky wearing it, he's human.

Whoever it is, the guy turns into the head of a regular sized TF, Cerebros, who basically is Fort Max, only smaller. Then Cerebros turns into the head of Fort Max. Cerebros probably grows a little bit to become Fort Max's head, but for the most part Fort Max is not really all that big.

Metroplex, on the other hand, is bascially the Autobot City from the animated movie in robot mode. (Which, ironically, was actually called Fortress Maximus until they changed it.) He is at least 1000 feet tall, if not more. And so is Trypticon. The funny part is that Metroplex's toy is half the size of Fort Max. But G1 toys were never to scale. Ahh, those were the days. You actually had to use your imagination a little bit.

I always thought Fort Max was bigger :-?

Damn Rebirth!

And how big is Metroplex?

If he were ever THAT big, then I might be able to call him a cityformer. Until then, I think I'll stick to 'large building'former.

Metroplex's head could hold quite a lot of normal-sized TFs (bumblebee and spike once entered it in Ghost in the Machine.) Fort Max's head was the size of a normal-sized TF (Cerebros). Proportionally, Metroplex was waaaay bigger.

For the longest time, I myself wasn't sure about the size class issue.

I learned it after some fanart appeared (or perhaps it was Dreamwave...who knows at this point?)

Metroplex is definitely the bigger of the two.

It never occurred to me just how much I missed here...Metroplex is the actual Autobot City. Fortress Maximus is literally a fortress. Perhaps the size of a building, perhaps even a castle, etc....but he's nowhere near the size of Metroplex.

It's amazing what you'll miss when you don't pay a bit of attention to the simple details.

I set the curve on the D.U.H. Test. At 49.

And you're not gonna pass it anytime soon with that grammar.

Wow, a Zombie thread that's almost three years old, and on your first post? Geez. Not trying to be rude or anything, but please realize that this is not a smart move on your first post. It's not a smart move, anytime, really.

In the future, please pay close attention to the last post date. If it's over 6 months old, and it's not a very active thread, it's better to start a new topic, or try and wedge in what you have to say in a different, but related current topic.

Now, with that being said:

Welcome to Seiberton. I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay.

In Headmasters (japan version) Fortmax was bigger than Metroplex. See the scene just prior to the battle in the North Pole. Also in the anime, Fortmax's head was like gynormous, core of the "Starship", bigger than the regular headmasters themselves IIRC.

well, depends on the source.
metroplex LOOKS bigger in the cartoon, but It's SAID in It fortress maximus is the ' largest transformer ever, in the episode he shows up in.
i assume, unicron doesn't count as a transformer...
In the japan cartoon, fort max dwarfs metroplex.
Toy wise, for max was way bigger, now slightly bigger with the newest ones.
you would THINK metroplex is bigger, since a autobot of standard size makes up for max's head, but we ARE talking about a universe, where 60 foot tall broadside, becomes an aircraft carrier so...
but since toys came first, before any other source, and they made for max bigger both times he's been made, compared to metroplex, gotta go with fort max
very seldom, do we get hard numbers in size.

598 Foot tall. is what they used to say he was - but I've seen some art that would suggest that is off by a factor of 10 he does Transform into something that is at least 2/3rds the size of a modern Aircraft carrier.

So throwing all the sources in the bin - i'll just "opinion" that Metroplex is logically larger as he has plenty of room for Transformers to walk around in side him - or to even live in him.

Metroplex in comic terms is a lot smaller but still pretty big.

In general most characters are smaller in the comics and bigger in the cartoon.

There may be some issues of Mass-shifting an individual art styles as Trypticon has been shown in comics as a actual city sized bot and also as no more than 4-6 times larger than an typical Transformer (but still a lot bigger than a Dinobot) basically he was drawn proportionally to the size he was as a toy compared to other toys.
The Titans Returns Trypticon may be heading more in the direction of a more accurate scale though.

In general though Metroplex is the largest Transformer (bar Unicron)

G1 toywise, Fort Max is practically real world toddler size while Metroplex is roughly the size of Ultra Magnus's super mode. He's really meant to interact more with smaller toys like the minibots or especially combiners (hence his scramble city ports to attach limbs as "armor"

Hopefully this adds to the convo as well as illustrates some difference between US and JP fiction.

Though this of course ends up implying that Cerebros himself is the size of Metroplex... isn't scale fun?
