Wii Zapper Rocks!

Postby Galvatron628 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 2:42 am

Just picked up a Wii Zapper and of course included "Links Crossbow training". Nintendo was really genious with this product. I'll be honest, why would anyone pay $20 for a piece of plastic? Because thats all it is... but you also get Links Crossbow training. So you can look at it as $20 for a piece of plastic or $20 for a game!

Anyway I'm quite impressed! Somehow the bukyness of having a whole gun put togethe makes accurasy alot easier than a lightweight Wii Remote. Links crossbow training is a lot of fun, no doubt. only $20 and worth every penny!

I for one loved the Zapper, and later on the Sega Menacer. Its good to see Light guns back in full effect! I realy loved what I've seen in Crossbow Training so far, and I'm looking foward to more!

I really believe the Zapper is going to be a killer periphial for the Wii in the long run.

Well this explains how they can sell the system for so cheap. They just release 3 or so other attachments for you to buy.

Wii Zapper is awesome. Can't wait to get Umbrella Chronicles!

Muffin- £10-£15 for an optional peripheral (only the nunchuk is really necessary), or an extra £100? Don't tell me 20 gigs or so cost £100, cos that just plain cRazy talk right there :P

True they aren't necessary. But technically neither is the HDD for a 360. And I can get one new without that for $270 that comes with a memory card anyways.

The Wii is $250 new. So $20 isn't all that different. I still haven't found a reason to look at that system and not think 'gimmick'. And because of that remote, many 3rd party companies don't want to take the time to import games into it. Is that hurting sales? Not at all. But I can't help wondering how many of the 14 or so million owners actually still enjoy the console.

I dunno man, I just haven't seen anything to make me go "oh cool"! with the Wii yet. And I doubt I ever will. Same with the Gamecube. Zelda and Mario are just played out now. They have become stale in my eyes.

Come up with a new idea that isn't from Miyamato and is actually good. Then I'll take notice.

Doesn't matter anyways. Got my 360 for $167 and am quite happy with the variety of games available.

£83.50 is a sweet price for a 360.

That's the problem with me comparing the 360 and Wii where I am. The prices are so radically different.

It annoys me that a new 360 here costs me about £300 for the console, while it seems to cost £135 where you are :?

I have to agree with The Muffin. The Wii was "awesome" when I got it, but now it's "meh." Te games are too kid centered, with Metroid and a few other in exception, an no one wants to put gems on it, it seems. They realy wore it thin. I'm gonna ditch that and my DS for a 360 (or the next X-Box) and a PSP...finally.
But, My little bro loves those mario and kirby kiddie games..so the Wii is here for a bit...

I own a Wii and must agree. I won't be getting rid of it though, because it does have a soft spot in my heart.

I loved the GameCube and still have all of my games (play perfectly on the Wii) so I won't be getting rid of the Wii for that alone, not to mention I like the Virtual Console games that I've bought.

I do think they could've put more oomph into the gaming library. I mean Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles aren't enough to entice the adult gamer. (Though both sure were a lot of fun.)

I guess it works for me because I like fun and goofy games a lot of the time.

I realize it doesn't work for everyone and that's fine...I have to admit, had I known all I know now, I might've 360'd myself.

If I could find a Wii Zapper with a copy of Link's Crossbow Training I'd buy it, but sadly I can't find it anywhere. My fiance' and I really enjoy the Wii, and since I also own a PS3, I've gotta say I can't relate to the 360 love, since I don't want one. The original XBox was such a disappointment, I didn't want the 360.

I really now don't think anyone should even compare the Xbox 360 to the Wii. ITs like 2 different worlds, and different gamers are interested in each one. The 360 is the PC Replacment, its the on-line gaming console, and its got the the Next Gen Graphics and HP to back it up. The Wii is a casual gamer system. Brings back some of the fun and feel of Arcade games. A lot of people buy it who previously didn't even care to own a video game system.

ITs fun but honestly I don't think its reign will last forever. It'll make enough money to hold its own and it'll outsell the cube, and it'll even give nintendo a good rep for the next system war, but it simply doesn't have the HP to compete head on with the 360.

But I can at least say its a lot better built product than the 360! My roommate is making a warrenty claim on his x-box, second time in a year and a half his 360 has broke! At least nintendo doesn't sell a $400 product with **** build quality!

True true. Nintendo is pretty well known for solid build construction. Which isn't surprising because they use a lot of parts from the previous generation in the new system.

Thats acctually a big issue with the Wii and the Next Gen Graphics. It literally is from a hardware standpoint, just a supercharged Game cube. the architecture is the same, its just the CPU runs faster and it has more system memory. The reason for its flawless backward-compatibility with the gamecube is because all it has to do is fire up a GCN bios and everything underclocks and it literally becomes a gamecube!

I'm really not sure why nintendo decided to go with the old hardware. I don't know if it was laziness, or the desire for perfect backward compatibility, or just for price. Either way I think they could of done a lot better than what they did!

But inspite of that I still love my Wii. Nintendo Fanboys should enjoy it. Honestly I've been having a blast with mine! So far got Wii Sports, Wii Play, Links Crossbow Training, Super Paper Mario, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, and Mario Party 8. Oh and of course Links Crosbow training. There are plenty of great First party titles on it, its just the 3rd party is very lacking, and probably will be till the end of its life.

I however still have no desire for an X-box yet. Still haven't seen anything I really want to get. I'm acctually leaning more towards a PS3 for my alternate system just so I can have a Blu Ray Player and still have a system with Next Gen Graphics

oh btw something thats really annoying me. Whats with Nintendo Cheaping out on giving you a DVD case? I'm really annoyed that my Wii Sports and Links crossbow training comes in a stupid cardboard cover. There was plenty of room to fit a dvd case in the console box as well as the Zapper box so why not put the DVD case in there?

You've already answered your own question. It's cheaper to go cardboard than plastic. DVD cases are expensive if you check out Wal-Mart. Imagine the overhead for Nintendo's costs in doing so? Besides, they're not the only Video Game manufacturer to use cardboard for a system game case.

People make a big deal about the Wii's lack of graphic power. What I wonder is, what's the big deal about graphics? I always thought the main thing was the game was fun to play.

Graphics are a natural evolution of games man. I can still enjoy games on the NES. But when I can play a game like Call of Duty 4 that practically breaks the barrier between a game and real life, there is no contest. Graphical quality helps you immerse yourself into a game and the character you're playing as. When I can walk around in Assassins Creed and be simply in awe at the architecture and lighting, I really appreciate the game even more.

So I want gameplay. And graphics. And fun.

well my Wii was bought at Gamestop, and of course Wii Sports came with it, and my Zapper was bought at Wal-mart. Yeah both have cardboard sleeves instead of cases.

I do think Graphics are important as well as what nintendo has done. Nintendo has forever re-invented the video game controller, and I almost guarentee the next system war every game company will use some motion sensitivity. Never Mind Sony's stupid weak attempt to copycat.

I am a lot more impressed than I ever thought I would be with the Wii. When I found out the 360 was rated 25times more powerful than X-box, PS3 was rated 32times more powerful than PS2, but the "revoloution" was only 2.5times more powerful than gamecube, I immediatly became skeptical, and that skepticism only increased when they announced Revoloution couldn't do HD. Than I saw the controller, and I found out it was going to be motion sensitive I really was thinking "teh powerglove". I wasn't sold on it till I saw E3 in which they showed off Wii Sports and Zelda:Twighlight princess.

Really its graphics are a LOT better than the lazy 3rd party developers make it out to be. Theres no excuse every game shouldn't at least look better than the original Xbox. Super Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3 prove how powerful it is. No it will never touch PS3 or Xbox 360 but theres no excuse for the crappy graphics that these lazy developers have ported to the system.

That's why I rarely ever go 3rd party. They're lazy barstards.

Mario galaxy and Metroid 3, as well as twilight princess, were said to not be pushing the system either.

There's a point where graphics are nice. After that line, they are pointless.

It's all very well having a game that's like being there yourself, but what're you going to do when it handles like a pig with two legs?

btw, you can download a patch that improves the graphical capabilities of the Wii. It's not quite HD, but they're a splendid touch.

More often then not, the developers that push the graphics, also push the gameplay. Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4 and Mass Effect are some of the most beautiful and immersive games you've play. The games that play like crap from third party developers also most of the time look like crap as well.

Shocking I know.

It was all glitz and glamor.

No real depth or anything.

Graphics were nice yeah, but the game play was boring as hell and the story sucked balls

I'll agree that the story sucked (granted it's only part one of a three part story), but dude the gameplay was awesome. It perfected the cover system. It was amazing how much I miss it in some games.
