Let me put it this way.

Your parents buy you video games.

A lot of people don't even have parents let alone can even afford video games. Put that into perspective on how crap your life is.

I do have parents, and they never, ever bought me games or toys, outside of Christmas and birthdays, obviously. And it wasn't because they didn't have the money to buy me everything (Though they really didn't, and I'd have to wait for pay day), but because they wanted me to earn it. Yeah, I had to work for stuff if I wanted it. Still do, like any honest human being. And because I earned it, it became unconditionally mine, and I learned to respect it better. And while I can't say my parents consistently make good decisions (They enjoyed the movie Cop Out) this is something they did perfectly right.

pffffft. I've seen your birthday and christmas hauls, i'd be lucky to have gotten in my whole life what you get in one haul. Run along spoilt boy!

My parents don't buy me toys or games either. Everything I have I bought. They don't give allowance either. All the money I have is from keeping lunch money and starving at school. Not really starving, but still.

I haven't had actual birthday presents since I was 11, and my mom decided to switch presents with money in '09. Every haul I've ever had is because I'm can do a helluva lot with what I'm given.

I wouldn't be too worried about Sly. I think we've all been through that phase in our teenage years. I think Burn will remember a few years back when I was depressed and bitching about everything. Then that all changes... when we just grow up. I appreciate life, my wonderful family, the ladies, my friends, and I've set goals and a purpose for myself in life.

If Sly's actually taking advice from complete strangers on the internet, then I honestly think that your parents care too much for you, in the fact that they are completely sheltering you from the outside world. I was in the same situation until I let my parents know that I needed to get outside the bubble, and experience the real world. Sure, they're still overbearing, but the decision to study abroad, and live by myself was the best decision I ever made.

Sly, just keep at it. Don't change who you are, and don't let society force you to conform. If you let that happen, then you just won't be yourself.

Yeah, but in this case, not being himself would probably be the better option.

Honestly, I never even noticed your "bitching". It wasn't until you posted asking for advice that I knew anything was up.

So either I see too much bitching on this site and no longer give a toss about it, or I just didn't give a toss about Blurrz.

Oh and for the record, Mortal Kombat 9 has been REFUSED classification in Australia. It will therefore not be released here.

So it'll just have to be imported. See! No venting or getting angry, just finding a way around government ignorance.

Once again proof as to why I love Aussies! Seriously, everyone I know that's an Aussie has a very straightforward answer to any problem.

Seriously, they refuse to create a R18+ rating for computer games. The highest we go is MA15+. They've received a report stating that R18+ would be a good idea and the shake up would bring computer games into line with movie and televsion classification.

But they ignore it.

Just like they ignore the reports on how internet filtering will fail.

But they push on, because they know what's best for business the ordinary Australian.

Either way, I need this game. I'm going crazy just thinking about it. I have the strong urge to say the "d" word in every sentence. (The other "D" word. ) Every time I do something, I think I'm getting killshots and extra points, I even tried selling AC Brotherhood, Resistance 2, and even Mass Effect! But I still don't have enough money! Why does this happen?

If you wait a few months the price will go down and you can read some reviews to see if it's any good. I rarely buy new games, I wait till they're in the $30 range before I even consider buying them. Have you played demo yet? The ad made the game look awesome, but the demo itself made the game seem pretty crappy.

Yeah, I've been playing the demo all day long. I've beaten my high score 3 times over. Over and over I played until I got sick of it! I got sick of it!!! I saw reviews, at IGN it got a score just .5 under Killzone 3's. Plus I want the Limited Edition! I NEED the limited edition! It's not enough for me to have a game, I have to have everything!!! I'm going to bed...

I'm going to tell you right now that you need to cut back on the games for a while. You are showing signs of being too obsessed with games.

I would recommend picking up another hobby like mountain biking or something that will get you out of the house and not focused on games.

You're getting this heated over a game that is basically the same game as all the other shooters out there. That and the fact that whenever you do stuff, you're thinking about getting kills and points. It's time to take a reality check and realize that there's more to life than a $60 game.

I hope I didn't come off as rude to you, but you need to know that there's more to life than getting this upset over a game.

Well, I don't like anything else. I hate being outside or in open spaces. I'm the opposite of claustrophobic. I went for a walk today and got dizzy and paranoid like 5 minutes in.

Plus, it's not as serious as I was making it out to be. But earlier I thought if I took a shower, I'd get points. But I do that with every game. Every time I see a bench, I think I see the little crosshair from Fallout and a message telling me to "press X to sit". LOL. It's kind of funny, because Fallout will do that.

As for why it happens, well, that can be attributed to not having a job. See, you get a job, you get money, and then you can buy whatever you want.

Well Sky if you hate being out doors, then how about building model kits?

It's a lot of fun and you'll actually feel productive when you labor over something that you can display proudly after countless hours of work.

All humans need a good dose of sunshine on a regular basis, sounds like you haven't been getting enough.

Seriously, get away from the tv and monitors some more. The world sucks, but it doesn't suck as much as you think it does.

Uhh...the third one. The one hey say every sentence in this game! Plus, I'm too young to get a job. I actually want one, but I'm too young. I'll be old enough in the summer though.

On a side note - 5 pages? On a subject about a game that may\may not get banned? Wow. It's a game - who really gives a crap? Other games will come out, and will easily be as good. Or they'll alter the game so the offending content is removed.

I think this thread clearly highlights several problems with todays culture.

That's the thing, there is no offending content. the big problem is with a few dirty jokes contained in the names of skill shots. It's literally as offensive as any given episode of South Park.

Me. I hate people. Especially people who obsess over censorship. The world is full of violence, and crude humor. I think it's best to start people off early.

You know what its like, though - sometimes the censors seem to have to make an example of something, anything to make their jobs worthwhile. Besides, moral outrage will do the games sales good in the long run.

I'm not sure how stuff works in the US, but for example, in Evil Dead 2 in the UK, they allowed all the violence to remain, except the bit where someone kicks Ash in the head when he's on the floor.

SlyTF1 - the world may well be full of horrors, but I certainly wouldn't want to adulterise mine, or any other persons childhood with it. You've got your whole life to grow-up and get psychologically damaged in, lets leave that magical, secure thing called childhood to be what it should be. I know I wouldn't have thanked my mother for filling my easily influenced mind with evils as a youngster.
