No. No it's not. No movie made after I was born is allowed to be a classic. This was the second or third video my mom and I ever rented from the video rental place shortly after it opened. This was a very big deal back in the eighties, so i remember it quite well.

Gonna have to disagree with you on that one, on the grounds that Ghostbusters came out after you were born. And also a big-ass list of other classic movies from the '80s and '90s that I can whip up in about five minutes.

They are awesome movies, not classics. Now leave me alone. I'm going to go build a blanket fort, hide in it, and color in some coloring books.

After I put the kids to bed......

And help the wife clean up the kitchen......

And set up for the kids breakfast in the morning. .....

And pay a couple of bills to mail out tomorrow......

There is only one Red Dawn. The Swayze one. Though I did enjoy the new one.

I began viewing certain hobbies, especially video games, as something not to be taken seriously at all. How I spent my time and how I viewed leisure time became a thing I had to carefully consider.

There was a time when things like gaming held a kind of reverence for the accomplishment of completion or when I put value on overcoming the challenge presented, but I think now that was merely because the other goals I had in life were too far out to balance appropriately.

I still enjoy them, but now work and ensuring my family is secure and happy is my challenge. My goals and time value have nothing to do with what rank I hold in a fighting game or what level of completion I push a jRPG into. Games are an entertainment distraction when I have time to spare.

...yeah, it's just a hobby and shouldn't take priority over real life. That's not a matter of "getting old." That's something most people figure out in college at the latest.

EDIT: Unless you're a major LPer, in which case it's not a hobby, it's your actual, profitable day job,

I'd say it's more a lack of spare time than a sign of maturity or growing old, lack of interest in video gaming that is. You lose a little bit of spare time when you get your first real job/leave high school and mom's house, but still have a ton of it. You'll lose a little bit more when you get married, but you still have a ton of it. Then you have kids, and it all disappears.

Like CP said, if you do have spare time, it's incredibly precious, and gaming rarely plays into it, and if it does, it's just a distraction. It really only plays to the feeling of getting old when you realize just how far they have come in my lifetime.

I am a middle school teacher. I am made to feel old on a daily basis. Any pop culture reference I make is either not understood, of the kids look at me like "how old ARE you"? Thankfully, I still look young and the kids think I'm in my 20's. (I'm 35)

I haven't started to feel old yet. Gonna be 30 next month but still single, no kids, and still having new experiences. So I would say I still feel rather young.

I feel old when I found out my niece now has her driver's license. Whenever someone mentions her age, I insist that she's actually still nine so I don't have to feel as old...

I went to a museum monday. It had an exhibition on music as home entertainment. We sat down at a crate of cassete tapes and played Depeche Mode and Cindy Lauper. The kids surrounding us had no idea what was going on as we felt right at home.

Ah, the good ol' days of recording your favourite songs off the radio straight onto a cassette tape and the absolute art form that was making sure you didn't get the presenter's voice on the recording at the end.

When I was really young I remember playing on the spectrum computer, waiting for games on cassettes to load. Wasn't fair really, my brother had a really fun amiga, my eldest sister had the nes and I got to play the spectrum...

I remember when dial up was a huge deal and pestering my parents for it (and for broadband when that was affordable)

I'm so old I remeber life before the internet.

I had a hand-me-down Commodore 64. It didn't work anymore, but I was like, four, so I didn't even care.

aye the ol rubber keyboard on the Spectrum, i had the 48k then a +3! still love those retro games....like Mercenary, Total Eclipse, Driller & Carrier Command! you can still get those today on some website or other...to play on your pc

My mother and Grandmother in their life times never had net. Mind you my mother's been passed for 10 years now. But she loved Super Nintendo, and Donkey Kong Country. While my Grandmother still played Atari 2600 till she passed which will be 3 years in December. I was never able to beat her at Pac-man, or Centipede.

Now,.. hehe. I whip my kid's butt on Guitar hero.

I started feeling old a few years ago when I started thinking up excuses if I was asked what a grown man was doing combing through the toy aisles at Walmart and Target in order to not appear creepy.

Then just the other day the neighbor kids' basketball hoop got knocked over onto my lawn and my first thought was "damn kids need to get their junk off my lawn."
