We know that the current IDW Publishing Transformers universe (including the various Hasbro branches now part of the same narrative world) will be coming to an end as of Unicron: Darkest Hour #6 - which will coincide with the conclusion of both current ongoing series Optimus Prime and Lost Light, too. The writer of the latter, James Roberts, part of the current identity of the IDW Transformersverse (Phase 2, in any case) with John Barber and Mairghread Scott, has casually thrown out on his Twitter account that his stay with Transformers will also be taking a break, as there are no plans as of yet to be involved with the reboot.

Several fans have been following Roberts' work thus far, and appreciated what More Than Meets the Eye and Lost Light have done for the Transformers franchise, and after also losing (as far as we know) Mairghread Scott, this is a fairly big factor going forward after September. Join the discussion in the Energon Pub, and let us know your thoughts on the news!

Haha! This has never happened before: “Are you the Transformers guy?” in the local Waitrose. Not for much longer, mate.

Me and Transformers are taking a break after LL#25.

Thanks again to fellow Seibertronian westjames/notirish, we have a small piece of news concerning the crew of the Paramount live-action Transformers spin-off, Bumblebee: The Movie. In a piece about recently acclaimed A Quiet Place with Shoot Online, sound editors Ethan Van Der Ryn and Erik Aadahl revealed they are also working on the Bumblebee movie with director Travis Knight.

Van der Ryn and Aadahl are currently working on Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, a Christmas season release being directed by Travis Knight who made an auspicious helming debut with Kubo And The Two Strings.

The two have previous experience with the Transformers franchise, along with a pretty hefty resumé:

Van der Ryn and Aadahl carry an audio pedigree that was up to the script’s challenge, having teamed on a couple of Best Achievement in Sound Editing Oscar nominations--for Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2012, and Argo the following year. Prior to connecting with Aadahl, Van der Ryn teamed with supervising sound editor Mike Hopkins to win a pair of Best Sound Editing Oscars--for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in 2003, and King Kong in 2006.

When Van der Ryn was in L.A. for the Academy Awards as a nominee for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, he first met industry pro Aadahl who was teaching a sound class at USC. The two struck up a rapport with Van der Ryn later offering Aadahl the chance to work with him on Michael Bay’s first Transformers movie. Van der Ryn and Aadahl kept on collaborating after that, eventually making their bond official by co-founding E² Sound which originally operated out of rented sound design suites at Sony. Four years ago, E² moved to the Warner Bros. Studios lot; the sound shop has worked with assorted studios, including Universal, Fox, DreamWorks and Disney.

As we said, a brief update, but sound appreciators out there might be excited about this story!

TFNation is proud to present another voice acting guest for the 2018 edition, and we roll over to the live-action movie universe and the media that spun out of the Paramount series. Join us in giving a warm welcome to voice actor André Sogliuzzo!

Lending his talents to the character of Sideswipe in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Sogliuzzo has also been behind the scenes for the well-received video game Transformers: Devastation, portraying the likes of Scavenger, Thundercracker, and one of the unnamed Seekers found in the game. Most recently, he has featured in the animated series Robots in Disguise, as the voice of Scavenger Clawtrap.

You may also recognise him from a number of other video game franchises, such as Skyrim, Everquest II, and Scarface: The World is Yours. For fans and followers of animated series and cartoons, you will have found Sogliuzzo in G.I. Joe: Renegades (as Major Bludd), Avatar: The Last Airbender (as Hakoda and King Bumi), Courage the Cowardly Dog, the Stuart Little TV series, and will soon be heard in the upcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

He has also been a regular actor for the Star Wars franchise, appearing as various characters in the Knights of the Old Republic games, and as Commander Cody (and others) in the version of the Star Wars: Clone Wars series directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, plus a number of voices in the recently concluded Star Wars: Rebels.

André Sogliuzzo will be present for all of the TFNation 2018 weekend, signing autographs, available for photo opportunities, and ready to meet fans of Transformers, voice acting, his work, and the franchises he’s been a part of!

Embedded in an article on Press of Atlantic City - about an upcoming musical comedy tour with Steve Martin - we have possible confirmation of comedy actor Martin Short lending his vocal talents to the live action Transformers spin off Bumblebee: The Movie production! We have no indication of what type of role, if just narration, or CGI character, or any other detail about the role other than the article showing this little tidbit:

WHAT’S NEW: Short is doing voiceovers for the upcoming 2018 film “Bumblebee: The Movie.”

Courtesy of the TFNation HQ, we have another guest update for their third fan convention taking place this summer in Birmingham, UK, on 17-19 August - and it's none other than IDW Publishing Transformers comics artist Alex Milne! Read more below, and book your tickets now.

Another returning guest to the 2018 edition of TFNation is the fan-beloved artist from the big cold white North, Alex Milne!

Milne has been working as a creator for Transformers since the days of Devil’s Due Press’ GI Joe vs the Transformers, various collaborations with Fun Publications and eventually moving to regular, serialised work with Dreamwave and IDW Publishing. As the regular co-creator on Transformer: More Than Meets the Eye, Milne has rendered hearts and tears in painstaking detail, bringing some of the more expressive robot faceplates to the pages of comics.

Alongside and after MTMTE, Milne has provided covers for a range of IDW Publishing comics, Transformers and elsewhere, as well as providing interior art for an issue of Transformers: Lost Light. His most recent collaboration saw him partner once more with writer John Barber (and Christos Gage) on the prequel mini-series Rom vs The Transformers: Shining Armor - but the perhaps bigger news is his presence as artist for the upcoming Unicron: Darkest Hour #0 Free Comic Book Day issue due in May 2018.

Alex Milne will be signing autographs, selling artwork, and attempting to complete commissions at TFNation 2018, as he is always in extremely high demand.

It appears as though fans of the Beast Wars are in for a real treat! David Kaye was announced back in February to be attending TFcon Toronto, and now we have news that Garry Chalk, voice of the Optimus Primal that opposed Megatron, will be in attendance as well! You can find the whole write up for Mr. Chalk below. Let us know if you will be attending TFcon Toronto this year, held July 13-15 at Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale!

Toronto, ON. TFcon Toronto is pleased to announce that Garry Chalk will join its exciting guest line-up for 2018.

As a British-born Canadian Actor and Voice Artist, Chalk has provided the voices for Optimus Primal of Beast Wars: Transformers and Beast Machines, as well as Optimus Prime in the anime English dubs of Transformers: Armada, Transformers Energon and Transformers: Cyberton.

Beyond the Transformers Universe, Chalk was the voice of Dr. Robotnik for Sonic Underground and 30 other animated television series ranging from My Little Pony to Voltron Force and the modern He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series.

As an actor, Chalk has been in films such as The Fly II, Godzilla and Freddy vs. Jason. Through television, he played the recurring role of Col. Chekov on Startgate SG-1 and has also appeared on other shows ranging from Arrow through to Power Rangers and The X-Files.

"We are thrilled to welcome back Garry Chalk to TFcon," says General Manager Colin Douglas. "Fans of the Transformers franchise will have the opportunity to see him in a rare reunion with David Kaye, his counterpart in the Beast Wars and Unicron Trilogy series."

While most of us feel like we're still recovering from the last Transformers Machinima animated show, Titans Return, it is almost time to jump down the rabbit hole again with the upcoming show Power of the Primes. It's because of this that the voice actor for Megatron in Combiner Wars, Titans Return, and POTP, Jason Marnocha, who is widely praised for being one of the highlights of the Trilogy, has started teasing POTP's premier.
Coming fresh from his twitter account, he's shared an image of Megatron with the new Power of the Primes title graphic, accompanied by his caption of "Soon. Soooooooon..." (It's also worth noting that the poster sports a shiny new Machinima logo, as well.) Check out the image mirrored from his twitter below, and let us know if you'll be tuning in to Power of the Primes when it premiers sometime later this year. It'll feature big new names like Mark Hamill, Ron Perlman, and Greg Berger!
