New Dimension Comics has dropped us a line, that they will be providing an exclusive cover for
IDW's Transformers #1, to hit sales early next year. New Dimension has the following to report.
New Dimension Comics is proud to announce our next exclusive cover project will be the new Transformers #1 by IDW! This book will be limited to just 1000 copies! The cover art will be by Don Figueroa whose was the feature artists on many of the Dreamwave Transformers issues. But that's just the start of the good news. Don has done a tremendous homage to the classic cover of Fantastic Four #1. Check out the art. It's done from a new angle.
And also check out that store in the background. It's New Dimension Comics of course! But wait, there's MORE! You also get a 2nd exclusive cover on the flip! Yes, flip the comic over and it's ANOTHER new cover. This one is ripe for the sketching! Don will be doing a limited number of sketches on this space for us exclusively, but we won't have them for a while of course. Great work can't be rushed! Plus, you could have you favorite Tranformers
artist - any artist at all that you bump into at a con - do a sketch on
it for you too.
NDC is now accepting pre-orders for this special book which will not be available until January. As a special incentive to order early, we are offering FREE SHIPPING on orders placed by Dec. 31,2005. Each issue is $9.99. Our last Tranfomers exclusive was such a hit that we pushed to have this special book to offer our loyal customers. Pre-orders will not be accepted on the sketched cover, which will be limited to 99 copies, until we can show you are sample. They will be sweet, but we think it's important for you to see what you are spending your hard earned money on.
You can view the cover

Toy News International has put up the official press release by
IDW concerning the succes of the upcoming Transformers #0.
Because of comicbook retailers pre-ordering, the preview issue of IDW's version of Transformers is gearing up to be top-seller, even before a single copy has hit the stands.
The following is a direct quote from the
article, which also features a #0 Cover Check list.
San Diego, Calif. (October 5, 2005) -- A new era for Transformers is set to begin this October, with the release of IDW Publishing’s all-new THE Transformers #0 issue! And that debut issue, which hits comic shops across the land on October 19, brings with it more than just a new take on the “Robots in Disguise.†THE Transformers #0 has also already become the top-selling title in IDW’s 5-year history. Transformers is under license from the Hasbro Properties Group, the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS).
Initial orders for The Transformers #0 are right at the 100,000 copies mark, a publishing milestone for IDW.
“A new Transformers series from a new publisher is a bit of an unknown, so I’d like to thank comic retailers for the faith they’ve shown in us and the new book,†said IDW’s Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall. “Retailers and the fan community have been amazingly supportive of our early efforts, and come October 19, they’ll be rewarded for their support in the form of an exciting new generation of Transformers comics.â€
THE Transformers #0, written by fan-favorite Transformers writer Simon Furman and featuring the stylized renderings of artist E.J. Su, presents the “Prelude to Infiltration,†a 16-page set-up for the first 6part arc. The book also features interviews with the creators and a look at artist Su’s approach to the title. This $0.99 premiere issue will then be followed by the monthly title, beginning with THE Transformers #1, a 32-page, $2.99 comic launching in January 2006.
Retailers who attended the recent Diamond Retailer Summit in Baltimore were treated to the first published copies of the #0 issue, which was further noted by its special Summit-only cover. And the faithful Transformers fans who attended BotCon 2005 in Frisco, Texas, likewise had the chance to check out the special issue. Soon, fans the world over will be able to do the same. And thanks to the support from comics retailers and fans alike, they’ll be able to do so every month for years to come.
The Transformers #0 debuts October 19, 2005 at the special introductory price of $0.99. Issue #0 will feature two covers by artist E.J. Su, and variant covers from James Raiz and Milx, all shipped in equal quantities. In addition, there will be two special wraparound incentive covers, one by Ed McGuiness and one for the BotCon convention by Hasbro’s design team. Finally, E.J. Su provided special covers for both Diamond Retail Summits (both by E.J. Su).
The Transformers #1 will launch in January 2006 with a cover price of $2.99.

EJ Su, previously the artist of
Devil's Due's GI Joe vs Transformers comics and one of the talents for
IDW's new Transformers Comics, has been
interviewed by
Comicon.com about his recent involvement with the Transformers comics.
"We want this series to have a lot of Transformers in vehicle modes making a cameo, so that when a reader is looking through a scene, he/she may or may not be aware some of the cars are Transformers until they reveals themselves"
The article also features several previews from the new IDW title of Transformers.

Our friends over at
the allspark have dug up some
tidbits of what IDW, who will now release Transformers comics, may have in store for us in the future.
-They are in talks with McDonough and Patyck. Not only that but they're looking to talk to many old school TF writers, not just Furman. Budiansky was brought up.
- Dreamwave TF artists are not being ignored. They want as much TF talent on this as possible and they're being instructed to go with their own style. They want as many different takes on this as possible.
- Don has already finished the first issue of Beast Wars.
- They do indeed want to finish the DW continuity but they simply can't until everything is out of the courts. For the time being those stories are untouchable.
- Except the trades already published! They want to keep those on teh racks so they will be reprinting them!
- For those that expressed concerns with the new TF art do not fear. All the bitching and whining was heard and we were told that the style between issue #0 and #1 will be very different. Same artist, just more technical detail.
- That doesn't mean DW style over-detailing. They don't want to repeat any of the DW mistakes.
- Size shifting is here to stay.
- They're looking to do a retelling of the movie from top to bottom. It sounds like it'll be in it's own continuity.
