Cinemacon is currently going on and we know Paramount will be on tomorrow where the trailer for Transformers One will be shown early to attendants, while we wait for the public release April 18th (Chris Hemsworth is also in attendance of the event). But the first Transformers One news to come out of it is the Popcorn bucket. On the trade show floor, there are booths showcasing a wide range of products associated to the theatre going experience and one booth is for the makers of the limited edition popcorn buckets. At their booth is a popcorn bucket for the upcoming Transformers One film. It features Orion Pax.
Of course, the proportions are waaaaaaaaaaay off since they fashion the body in the form of a bucket, but it does give is an idea of what the character's head would look like and the details found on the body. We'll be back tomorrow if more news drops about Transformers One at Cinemacon.
To commemorate a partnership between Takara Tomy and Japanese exotic car retailer Bingo Sport a new figure of live action Optimus Prime will soon see release. Thanks to a post on X by the official @TF_pr account we're getting our first look at the figure which appears to be a heavy retool of Studio Series 92 Crosshairs from 2022 into a Corvette C7 GT3-R. They're expecting reservations to begin in early summer 2024 and release to take place in the following winter. More information, such as how to order one, is coming soon. But as this is potentially a store exclusive it my require ordering through Bingo Sports, possibly even through visiting their store. Hope for the best, but expect the worst in this case. As you can see below the same deco is also being used in the real world for a future Japan Cup race.
The 40th anniversary of Transformers is bringing us a lot of big and new things, but one of the biggest staples of the franchise is coming to an end. With the release of MP-60 Ginrai, what they're calling the 100th MP figure when including certain special edition and limited releases they're calling it quits on the Masterpiece line as we know it. That's not to say we wont be getting anymore MPs at all, but the primary line that originated with MP-01 some 21 years ago will no longer Exist at the end of 2024. A blurb on the official website for MP-60 and MP-09 states that the line will continue with the MPG line moving forward. Whether this means all future MPs will be combiners of some sort or if the MPG line is being rebranded is currently unknown. What this might mean for the Masterpiece Movie line headed by Hasbro is also unknow, but probably wont be affected by this news, at least not outside of Japan. Until Takara Tomy clarifies further all we can do is speculate. Below you'll find the pertinent bit from the website as translated by Google.
With so many characters left undone it's hard to guess what the future might bring for the line. Thanks to Sabrblade in the Seibertron Energon Pub Forums for letting us know. And be sure to let us know how you feel about what may be sad news for many fans in the forums as well.
Amazon Japan has put up their listings for the newly revealed Masterpiece figures. Fans have placed in order already and with shipping, Super Ginrai comes to just shy of $300 USD shipped. Prices may come down further over time. Other Japanese retailers have these for order too, like Ami Ami.
The listings give us some new images, showing off all accessories each release comes with. The Super version comes with an alternate face to give Optimus red eyes instead of blue, along with a small figure of Ginrai in his exo-suit, and some really cool effects parts.
Below you will see official images of the upcoming MPG-09 Super Ginrai. This is a cartoon-accurate version of the upcoming trailer-less Masterpiece MP-60 Ginrai. This MPG version includes the trailer and can combine with it to form Super Ginrai. The images we have include the robot mode, cab mode, cab and trailer mode and the Super Ginrai combiner mode.
