I just received a message from one of our friends at USA Today:

"I wanted to let Seibertron.com know that we have a gallery of 10 original Transformers that fans can vote on to send a message to the studio about who they'd like to see in a second movie. Figured this would be up your alley!

There's a giant Devastator image on the front page of our Life page online:

http://www.usatoday.com/life/default.htm

I'd be curious to hear who you'd like to see!"

You can vote for which Transformer you'd like to see in the sequel by visiting the link below:

http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2007-07-18-Transformers_N.htm

Let your voice be heard! Vote here: http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2007-07-18-Transformers_N.htm

______________________UPDATE________________________________

UPDATE! Wheeljack35 gives us the heads up, the poll is complete, and the winner with an unconvincing 20% of the vote, was...

Soundwave.

Devastator and Grimlock each received 16% of the vote, Jetfire 11%, Ultra Magnus 9%, and Shockwave 9%.

Here's the link for the results page on the USA Today website.

Happy or sad about the vote? Obviously, we are a community that has many different tastes. It was really great of them to make that poll and give us some say in the process. The fact that there was no run away winner, shows just how many great characters there are, and that they have numerous options for the next movies.

The Transformers Movie's "lead robot illustrator", Ben Procter, sent us an email early this morning to let us know that he has updated his website to include a new section about the Transformers project. Here's an excerpt from his website:

"Designing robots for the Transformers movie was literally a dream job for me. As a kid, I collected robot toys from a variety of anime, pored over the pages of Hobby Japan, drew lots of robots, and of course loved the Transformers cartoon. Never did I imagine that I'd one day get to help develop characters for the live-action giant robot movie I so badly wished would exist. I'm truly grateful to Jeff Mann [Production Designer] and Michael Bay [Director] for giving me the chance to rekindle a childhood passion on such an inspiring scale. And I'm in genuine awe of the finished movie's robot action, which culminates the hard word of so many talented concept design, previs and VFX artists (not to mention sound engineers). I've never been prouder to have worked on a film."

Ben has also worked on several other major motion pictures such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Superman Returns and The Terminal. You can view his IMDB.com entry by clicking here.

Check out his website to view 15 new pages of content that include many of Ben's incredible artwork at BenProcter.com. Enjoy!

Dutch movie site MovieAlert.com has added all the figures together and came to the following conclusion. Because of his work on the Transformers Movie, Michael Bay has become only the 13th person in movie making history to be part of the Director's Billion Dollar Club. With the boxoffice results Transformers has made thus far, added to what his previous movies, including Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys, has made domestically, Michael Bay's movies (as a director) have now collectively made over a billion dollars. Other movie directors in the Billion Dollar Club include George Lucas, Chris Columbus, Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi, Robert Zemeckis, Tim Burton, James Cameron, with Steven Spielberg leading the pack.

Our guru of People involved with Transformers, Simon Furman has been interviewed by the UK brand of the Sci Fi Channel. The interview takes us back to the rich history the writer of much of the Transformers Mythos has brought to paper in the various Transformers Comics. And follows the evolution of Transformers over the years, to Furman's present day involvement with the Transformers.

"Well, the new comics are set very much in the movie continuity. The first six issues, it's pretty much a character per story that we focus on. And also we try and highlight some of the ones who weren't necessarily given a lot to do in the movie, so we kind of cover characters like Ratchet and Ironhide, and Devastator, but there's also this larger story that unfolds over the whole six issues".

The article ends with a short interview with Chief Editor of Titan's UK Transformers Comics, Steve White.

"Aside from Simon (obviously) and Geoff Senior, Andy Wildman and Nick Roche will be doing art for the following two issues. I'd like to see if I can get some of the other 'classic' artists interested but I don't want this to be a complete nostalgia-fest. We have to bear in mind we'll be picking up a whole new generation of fans who only know it from the film, so we can't afford to alienate them, especially as there'll probably be a lot more of them!".

Grifter Prime has posted the following news item on the Seibertron Board. "Transformers Song Universe" is set to be released in Japan. Details were found on a Digimon forum on withthewill.net. The CD package is set for a August 8th release.

The following has been taken directly from the board on withthewill.net

Cover has Convoy (Optimus Prime in Transformers G1), Convoy (Optimus Primal in Beast Wars, called both Convoy and Beast Convoy at differing times in Japan), Rodimus Convoy (Transformers 2010, Rodimus Prime in Transformers G1), Star Saber (Transformers Victory), Convoy (Micron Legend, Optimus Prime in Transformers Armada), and Convoy (Transformers Kiss Players, Optimus Prime in Transformers Alternators)

The song has nearly every Japanese Opening, Ending, and Insert song (Beast Wars Returns used the Beast Machines theme, so it appears to be left out). Not sure if anything else is missing but it appears to be quite awesome. Transformers songs that were done by Kageyama Hironobu (DBZ fans, you know him) and Wada Kouji (all of us Digimon fans know him). English translated tracklist courtesy of Fenrir and DigistarDBZ (who got it done quite quickly after I asked them to)

ABS CBN Interactive has an article up on the Rating of the Transformers Movie in the Philippines, that opened its door on June 28th. As in other countries, according to the movie news item, it was supposed to be released with a PG-13 rating. Instead it was given the all ages rating of "General Patronage" or GP, after the offensive word of "Masterbation" was deleted from the movie. When the word was deleted, the movie was reviewed again by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and was given the rating it now has.
