Let's take a minute to chill and escape the craziness and hype of SDCC, and focus on something a bit more sedate.

Hasbro's new information subscription system, Hasbro Pulse, has begun shipping their welcome packages to those of us who signed up! You can read more about this free service by clicking here.

Yours truly just received his packet in the mail this afternoon and I almost missed it, it comes in a very battered plain white envelope, with a tiny address label to tell you what it is. (I almost tossed it!)

Inside came a lanyard tag for preferential treatment at Hasbro's SDCC booth, a welcome card and an issue of IDW's Combiner Wars, featuring an exclusive cover comprised of figures instead of hand drawn art.

All for free, can't beat that!

Hasbro Withdraws from UK Toy Fair 2016

Transformers News: Hasbro Withdraws from UK Toy Fair 2016

From ToyWorldMag, we receive news of a development concerning the UK branch of Hasbro, and its participation in the UK Toy Fair in 2016. It appears that the company would rather favour the German fair in Nuremberg over the London event, due to the latter being shifted to a date too close to the former.

While the news is a little surprising for a fairly big company, UK Toy Fair has not always brought gigantic amounts of news in terms of new products in the Transformers department - except for Age of Extinction licensed material - and Nuremberg was the first sighting of Titan Devastator. Nonetheless, we're interested in your thoughts, over in the Energon Pub!

Toy World has learnt that Hasbro will not be exhibiting at Toy Fair in 2016 because of the proximity of dates of Toy Fair and the Nuremberg Toy Fair in 2016.

A spokesperson from Hasbro UK told Toy World: “Hasbro will not be exhibiting at the next London Toy Fair due to the complexity of the global toy show calendar in 2016. As part of a global organisation we have had to make this tough choice to ensure we utilise our people and resources as efficiently as possible. We nevertheless continue to maximise support for Hasbro’s sales in the UK and remain committed to the toy industry. This is wholeheartedly demonstrated by our attendance at many of the other UK shows and events, our extensive showroom at our Stockley Park offices and our passionate involvement in the Industry’s charitable ventures. We would like to wish London Toy Fair 2016 every success.”

Majen Immink, head of Toy Fair operations and sales commented: “We are sorry not to be welcoming Hasbro back to Toy Fair in 2016. Every year we do expect to see changes in the floor plan as some exhibitors won’t be able to return for varying reasons. We fully appreciate that the date change in 2016 will have impacted on some of our exhibitors more than others. We are nevertheless encouraged by the response by exhibitors and the number of returnees to the show. We have worked hard to mitigate the issues created by the change in the schedule but we do understand that we will not have solved the issues for every company. We, of course, look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2016 and beyond.”

Renowned for its diverse catalog of licensed and independent titles, IDW publishes some of the most successful and popular titles in the industry, including: Hasbro’s The TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOE and MY LITTLE PONY; Disney’s classic characters including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Uncle Scrooge; Paramount/CBS’s Star Trek; Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; Zombies vs Robots by Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood; Ragnarök from Eisner Award-winner Walter Simonson; and Little Nemo from the award-winning duo of Eric Shanower and Gabriel Rodriguez. IDW is also home to acclaimed imprints such as the Library of American Comics, which publishes classic comic reprints, Yoe! Books, a partnership with Yoe! Studio, IDW Artist’s Editions, and Top Shelf Productions.

IDW’s critically- and fan-acclaimed series are continually moving into new mediums. Currently, Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Disney are creating a feature film based on World War Robot; Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Warner Brothers are producing a film based on Ashley Wood's Lore; Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and Sony are bringing Zombies vs. Robots to film, and Alex Kurtzman is producing a movie based on Locke & Key at Universal.

IDW Entertainment was started in 2014 to fund, develop, and oversee brand extensions across IDW Publishing’s portfolio of comics and graphic novels for the global television market. IDW Entertainment is currently in development with a slate of properties for television including the chilling and realistic vampire thriller, V Wars, by New York Times Best Seller Jonathan Maberry with writer/executive producer Tim Schlattmann (Dexter, Smallville); Douglas Adams' Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, with writer/executive producer Max Landis (Chronicle); and many others.

The official Hasbro Transformers YouTube channel has posted a new video, featuring the results of the Saturday night awards taking place at BotCon 2015 this past weekend - which saw the induction of a number of characters (fictional and not!) into the Transformers Hall of Fame under three categories:

  • Favorite Character
  • Best Combiner Character
  • Best Musical Act

Watch the embedded video below, introduced and hosted by Frank Welker's Megatron to find out for yourself, and keep scrolling if you'd rather read them!

Who will be inducted into the Transformers Hall of Fame this year? There are a lot of worthy nominees and, as long as Megatron doesn’t take all of the trophies home himself, it should be an exciting evening.

  • Favorite Character: Prowl!
  • Best Combiner Character: Predaking!
  • Best Musical Act: Vince DiCola!
