10 Inch Funko Pop Soundwave Revealed as Gamestop Exclusive

I never have understood the draw of those things.

I only own 1 Funko Pop. A Joker. But I’m totally getting those Thundarr the Barbarian ones. That Ookla the Mok looks awesome.

Not really interested in the TFs though.

I went by a local Game Stop today (Springfield, MO) and they two of these and i decided to pick up one. Ive never bought anything from this particular line but thought Soundwave was pretty cool looking.

From the photos, I took a picture of both sides of the cassettes and with at least one cassette in his chest.

He was listed at $34.99.

Several Funko Pop! Transformers have been tough to find due to their exclusivity and they sell out fast. So here is a heads up if you are looking for Funko Pop! G1 Tracks. We had reported on a Hasbro exclusive being behind an NFT paywall, and the community was wondering how long it would take for the same to happen to a Transformers exclusive. Well, this is getting closer to there. The Funko Pop website is advertising an NFT drop of 360000 Transformers NFTs on March 15th. You have samples of the NFTs on the website. It is unclear if you can purchase them without a crypto wallet.

Now, among the 360000 NFTs, there are around 9,596 which come with a token you can use to redeem an exclusive Funko Pop toy. The exclusives are below. So, just to be clear, buying a set of these NFTs means you only get a chance at getting a physical Funko Pop toy, over 90% of purchases will result in just NFTs. This is like those sports cars packs where you have a chance at there being a special rare card (like on that is autographed or has a piece of a game worn jersey) inside. But at least with the card example, you still get cards regardless. Here, you have less than a 10% chance at owning something physical.

And yes, I wrote the same thing twice in different ways, I just want it to be clear.

So, is it time to burn the NFT section of Hasbro and Funko to the ground yet?

NFT's are a predatory scam, and forcing people to buy NFT's for a CHANCE at getting an actual item is a predatory scam on steroids. This crap can DIAF.

It's my math error. I added up the percentages and then did cross multiplication with the total of single NFTs when instead I should have done it with the number of sets.

It's not their fault. They're just trying to capitalise on the latest "big thing".

Unfortunately, unlike fidget spinners, this won't be going away any time soon and we can expect more of this crap.

I was happy to get Funko Starscream and Shockwave to my collection this past week. A few weeks ago, I got the oversized Soundwave from Gamestop. I even got Tracks a couple of months ago from my favorite Toy Tokyo store in NYC.

Seeing this promotion with all of the crazy hoops you have to jump through and the idea of these Funko Pops being super insanely expensive on the aftermarket due to this unfortunate promotion makes me just want to sell all of my Funko Pop Transformers.

Oddly, I feel a bit like a hypocrite saying that though since this reminds me of the BotCon 2007 ordeal. Most of the figures that created the uproar from that Botcon's exclusives eventually became available at retail or other attainable venues so maybe time will tell with these Funkos like Devastator, Sideswipe and Hot Rod.

Yes, I think we will get some variation on these at retail. I wouldn't throw away the funkos just yet.

NFTs are just a scam. A stupid, stupid scam that really needs to piss off and die now.
