Okay, those decoes are actually pretty sweet. They highlight what's good about the Glavatron.

I've always been a supporter of C/G Galvatron. And that deco gives the Asia 3-Pack version a run for its money.

I also have no qualms with the Titanium Roddy mold either. I look forward to this set 8-)

Nice deco's on them, but man, that galvy looks like a really incoherent mess, just everything looks wrong with him, like he was a voyager sized figure shoved haphazardly into a deluxe sized figure... oh, wait...

I cant believe i just typed that.

Or at least some of them needs to be plastic, Titanium Megatron could've gotten a lot from that.

But I want him in grey with a dark face like the G1 toy and especially the Marvel UK Galavtron(s) who is by far my fave version of the character.

Maybe white with light blue streaks to look like the shiny comic shading but also like the cel-shading they used in Transformers Devasatation game. :)

With the plastic indents on either side of Rodimus' head in the packaging, my first thought was that they were giving him a full Thunderhoof makeover.

At least the decos look really nice... still not the greatest toys tho. Still holding out for that Hot Rod TR rumour; they just have to do an actual toy of him for this anniversary thing, right?

I have that Galvatron and he's a fiddly mess. I really wish they went voyager class with it because that would have helped. I liked it but it has some major annoying flaws. Still, this paint job looks good.

There's so many Megatrons, Shockwaves and Seeker deluxes that I want as voyagers (or at least universe cyclonus-tall deluxes for the seekers)...

On the note of a Platinum set people are actually wanting, does anyone have a comparison between Hasbro, Takara and Platinum Ultra Magnus?

Which deluxe Megatron do you want as a voyager? WFC would be cool but I can't think of others.

WFC Megatron is admittedly the main one; if he were voyager he'd be my perfect Megsy.
But uh yeah, there's also the Deluxe one from Classics that was packaged with a deluxe Optimus (for the record I also kinda want that Deluxe Optimus as a voyager; CW and Voyager Classics Prime are fantastic but it'd be nice to have the option of an extremely accurate G1 Prime as a Voyager. Also helicopter arms are hilarious), the Generations IDW Megatron that turns into a Stealth Bomber, and... uh... well, I guess that's it lol. The CW Leader Megatron as a Voyager would also be really nice.
There's so many great toys of these guys but none that are the right size for me :p

Sadly, Hasbro has changed the scales on us. I too wanted a new voyager megatron, seekers and soundwave. But last year we started getting new versions of all of these, as leaders.

Admittedly I'm fine with that to an extent - I think I've said this before but the Leader Decepticons rn function as a really, really budget Masterpiece display as they all go well with each other - we've already got Megatron, Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Soundwave, Buzzsaw, Laserbeak, Rumble and Ravage; so assuming Frenzy comes out - and, really, why wouldn't he? - then all 10 1984 Decepticons are represented in a larger scale relative to each other. Hell, Titan Devastator kinda works with them too - now we just need Shockers and the Insecticons for a full Season 1 team. It's kinda cool, plus I ended up picking up a discounted Leader Thundercracker just to display on his own since IDW Thundercracker is my overall favourite Transformers character.

... just a shame that they don't get new Voyagers. Ah well, at least TFP Shockwave works for him I guess.

The size is the only thing that's put me off that figure. I'd love it but it's too expensive and far too large for my set. Otherwise it's the perfect G1 Megatron. If I can find a scaled down to Voyager sized (high quality knock off) that would be the best...

But then Powermaster Prime's gonna be that big anyways so I guess Megatron should be that size to match him.... so.... hm the cost is still an issue.

Not exactly - Powermaster Prime always seemed to be much bigger than your standard Autobot; the Powermaster form was almost always portrayed as a sort of super mode. Said super mode is what the upcoming toy is portraying, hence I find leader perfect for him.
On that note I've also found Leader class perfect scaling for Jetfire and Magnus too. Blaster just ends up being the odd one out.

I agree but I dont think they are meant to scale with eachother. FOC Blaster is meant to scale with magnus and Jetfire. The new Blast is a new scale wo go agiainst Leader Soundwave and the Leader Sekers. They are using the same size class to make 2 different scales. And thats that same thing they are doing with the Legends size class. That 2 has different scales, with seekers and minibots that arent supposed to scale with eachother.

Oh of course; I entirely get why Leader Blaster exists - might as well retool Soundwave into Blaster as an easy job, especially since you can make a wide-line gimmick of cassette thingies not exclusive to one faction (and also of course make more of said cassette thingies). It's just that it ends up not being useful... unless you want Blaster facing off alone against Megatron, Soundwave, a Seeker Squadron, an army of Cassettes and Devastator. Sounds like a day he probably should've just slept in.
Come to think of it he could maybe make a decent MP Blaster stand-in if you don't wanna pour out loads of money to third parties, sort of like how people have ended up using Leader Megatron as a MP stand-in since the original MP Megatron... isn't very popular.

I think those are the only 2 ways of seeing his existence, as fans. And for kids, he serves as a base and it thus makes sense that he is big.

I'm not a huge fan of Leader class, Jetfire being the sole exception. Magnus suffers with a vehicle mode that's out of scale with everything else, and that really bugs me.

His alt mode scales pretty well with the legends class. He can haul 4 of them in trailer mode comfortably :MAXIMAL:

I mean... maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I can get past a less-than-brilliant vehicle mode as long as the Robot Mode works. I know transformation is the whole thing, but to me something in a different mode being sacrificed for a superior robot mode (or most important mode; like a targetmaster's gun mode or a combiner limb's combined mode) is fine to me.
That said I rarely keep things on the shelf and am constantly transforming my figures :p

And that right there is exactly my problem when the average TF car is deluxe. I guess I could have worded my statement better since Legends size cars are another thing I have a problem with.

I know, I know. Scale in TFs and G1 in particular is a losing argument. It still bugs me when a large truck is so tiny, though. In bot mode he's a good size (unlike the Seekers, Megatron, Soundwave, and Blaster), it's just irnoic that they couldn't get the vehicle mode the right size.

Galvatron seems OK - I may get the set on sale if only to finally try and see if they have made one with left and right feet and not two left or two right feet.

Seems a lot like the Henkei one only without the Chrome.

I wonder why they have not thought to make one in a lighter grey we've had clear and off white but not a light grey yet.

I don't hate the mould as such but I prefer to use the Classics Deluxe Tank Megatron mould or The War For Cybertron Deluxe (there is another example of something that would have made a great Voyager though).

TBH ... I agree with you.

I mean, I am 100% a TFTM guy. It's what sustained my fandom for years (that and Return of Optimus Prime). But we've gotten Arcee, Ultra Magnus, Galvatron, Arcee, Cyclonus and Springer all in short order with Scourge and Blurr coming up. Like ... why not a single BW homage? I get that. But the way I see it, we all know that Takara's MP line is the best Transfomrer product out there. Its not like Hasbro would dish out money to make an MP of their own anyway. So this is the best case scenario. We are getting a Masterpiece Beast Wars toy on the 30th anniversary. Hasbro was never gonna do that anyway. And it being in Japan is not that bad with how we are all connected today. You can still buy this toy just as easily as youd buy another toy online and importing it will be the same amount that Hasbro will sell it IF ever they decide to sell it here. I mean they are selling MP Bumblebee for 65$ this yeah and Prowl was more expensive than when Japan released him. The Transformers Brand is shared by 2 toy giants, I dont think you should let the proximity of one ruin your fun and ignore the celebration it is rightfully getting.

Nothing, thats it.

One of the main designers at Hasbro right now is a guy who loves G1, and Hasbro has said that its the designers who decide the toy stuff (who gets made, in what colour, how), under the budgetory constraints given by corporate of course[/quote]

On the one hand, you got Transformers: The Movie -- Beautifully animated (both for its time and, to an extent, in this day and age), has an awesomely 80's soundtrack and score, and responsible for scarring a generation of children by graphically murdering large swaths of beloved childhood icons within its first twenty minutes, including one of the most beloved icons of them all, who is then replaced first by an inept leader and then by the reckless punk whose bumbling interference inadvertently aided in said beloved icon's death, and introduced concepts and plot points that, while becoming staples of the brand for years to come, were ill-defined and barely touched upon beyond the most elementary of descriptions and characteristics, resulting in what is at best a glamorously gorgeous feature-length toy commercial and at worst as poorly-written cash-grab ignorant of its characters' iconography and which performed abysmally both at the box office and with critics alike.

And on the other hand, you got Beast Wars -- An Emmy award-winning animated series that saved a dying, decrepit toy brand from the brink of death with its at-the-time cutting edge CGI animation that, while today looks woefully outdated compared to most modern CG television works, was at the top of its game in its day and age with its impressive but imperfect display of CG television at its finest, and which was combined with masterful writing and storytelling that, while being made up with little actual planning as its writers went along, masked its toy commercial status behind an elegant blend of seriousness, wit, drama, charm, comedy, characterization, and development, with only its most blatant shortcomings stemming from either the limitations of CGI, executive meddling from Hasbro that forced certain plots to be halted/rushed/unexplained, and which the writers had to work around so as to not let their product suffer as much as it could have.

Well, at least they both had top-notch voice acting.

Well, the Botcon set was also great BW celebration. Predacus actually looks pretty badass (even though Ravage's head is terrible) and the Tripredacus Council are just the sort of things Botcon exclusives should be - obscure characters getting toys.

Sure, but the robot mode is soooooo perfect, it makes up for the tiny. Vehicle mode.

The robot mode is pretty great, but in the end if I had to choose ... I think City Commander may remain my Magnus of choice. Both because of scale and because of the White Prime. As a kid I destroyed the trailer, but kept on using that Prime for years. I know some of the appeal for others in regards to the Leader is that it's fully integrated, but it's the opposite for me.

Really? I mean, the first thing he does after fleeing - and losing most of his escape ship - is crash land, get shot to pieces, and lose the matrix, so, yeah... I'd say he's plenty inept as a leader :BANG_HEAD:

He saved his subordinates by sacrificing his life...pretty top notch leadership there, I think....
