flippant (adjective) - not showing a serious or respectful attitude.
In other words, he's messing around.

They look like... more of Lockdown. Like, more of his kind. Oh no... now that you mention it, Lockdown's ocular helmet does look like that of a scuba diving helmet. And we see him coming out of the water in that one shot. And Quintessa is known for its aquatic inhabitants, so maybe, just maybe, Lockdown and his ilk just might be of or pertaining to Quintessa.SlyTF1 wrote:I hope those aren't the quintessans behind Lockdown.
I hope not too, though.

Could be a diffrent group of non cybertronian Transformers
as in transformers not from Cybertron bu another planet that could be why Lockdown has green eyes
speaking of Green eyes i believe that Devastator was created by Lockdown and supplied to the cons probably not but i head canon that.

As it turns out, it just so happens that the Transformers: Retribution novel that came out back in January had the Quintessons and their ilk as being exactly that, creations of the Original Thirteen member Quintus Prime birthed on the Planet Quintessa.mirageandjazz1197 wrote:Could be a diffrent group of non cybertronian Transformers

Separate continuity, yeah, but the movies have borrowed ideas from other TF works before.
So, who knows, at this point.

There's still a possibility we might get both, since the Quints were originally conceived for the 1986 movie as servants of Unicron who did away with any survivors of planets Unicron ate (before they were changed into being their own unique faction in the final cut of the 1986 movie). It's possible any Quints we might get in this movie might serve him here as well.Autobot032 wrote:I'd much rather have Quintessons over Unicron, anyday.
And, once more, I hope not.

I couldn't disagree more. I personally don't like the characters of Quintessons, thankfully they were mainly in the cartoon. I would much rather have Unicron (though not without proper build-up and back story) than Quintessons.

Yeah, they definitely look like Lockdown´s own team. Sinse Lockdown can shift his face, maybe they´re all Quitessons.
The ships might be the ones used by the Dinobots to travel to Earth, but that thing on top of them looks like a snail´s shell, it reminds me of the Quints.

(You know, run of the mill alien race looking to 'colonize' Earth for minerals and stuff) I want them to be here specifically because of the Transformers. Maybe they could be The Fallen's minions or something? Whatever, as long as it's not the same old same old. I don't like the Quintessons, but I gotta admit they (or at least the concept of them) is at least somewhat unique, and could be characterized well.
I am pretty sure they wont be included. The script writers have never dived too deeply into that part of the franchise and they usually settle for a more grounded approach. Introducing the dinobots is already a big step for Bay and his theme since Bay himself thought it was always too much to have robot dinosaurs. So I think it wont go more far fetched than the Dinobots in this film.
And as a side note, I am warming up more and more to this film. I was rewatching the others and I realized that there wasnt as much transformer action in the others as I thought. Optimus' fights are usually very short, with the longest one being in the forest in Revenge of the Fallen before he dies A lot of the other action segments usually dealt with the humans.
If you fill in the gaps in these trailers, we can already see that this film will have much more actual Transformer action and I am so pumped for this. Already got my Imax tickets!

Whoever these dudes are, it was stated at CinemaCon that Lockdown is working for some authority who sends him to Earth specifically because of the Transformers' activities on Earth in the previous three films. Whoever Lockdown serves is not pleased with the Transformers having come in contact/interacted with humanity. So if these are a new take Quints, it's probably safe to assume that they are at least here specifically because of the TFs having been on Earth.Rodimus Prime wrote:If the Quints have to be in Bayverse, I hope they do them justice and not make them a cliche. The Sweeps were Scourge's minions, not Cyclonus's.SlyTF1 wrote:What if the guys behind Lockdown are Sweeps? Wasn't Cyclonus rumored to be in the movie?
As for Cyclonus, common belief is that that was a preliminary/misunderstood name for Galvatron.

Yeah, but since they're bringing Galvatron into the movie, and if Cyclonus is, in fact, in the movie, it would make sense to have Scourge and the Sweeps, too. IF they wanted to portray this whole Unicron thing as it was in G1.
Posted by Sabrblade on June 15th, 2014 @ 10:02pm CDT
But Galvatron and Lockdown have no affiliation to each other. Your argument is dependent on Lockdown and Galvatron being of the same ilk since the guys your pegging for the Sweeps are more likely part of Lockdown's space gang, while Galvatron is a human-built mech from Earth.SlyTF1 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The Sweeps were Scourge's minions, not Cyclonus's.SlyTF1 wrote:What if the guys behind Lockdown are Sweeps? And there was no "Cyclonus" for AOE listed in the giant list from Hasbro's customer service system, which thus far has accurately predicted every toy and character to come out of AOE.

Remember the CinemaCon description? There was a jet Transformer that came from Lockdown's ship and scooped Tessa and Optimus with a net. That could be Cyclonus or a possible drone that serves Lockdown. You are going to have to watch the movie to find out.

Hound also talks in this
and pay attention to the left when bumblebee transforms you can see Optimus is stabed with his own sword.
Edit better quality

There was art drawn for the character and it was listed on a script on set (IIRC, ALONGSIDE Galvatron), which is where the original rumour/confirmation of the character came from - note that the Wikipedia editors thought it was legit enough to include that, and they refuse to even list characters based off toy sightings. Ofcourse, a lot can change in a year of editing, however I've got my money down that this is Cyclonus, and he transforms into a helicopter of some description.

The guy who in Payoff flips the cars at Bumblebee. I struggle to see Bay giving so much screen time to a fight between Bee and a random vehicon bot with no name, additionally it looks a lot like the art that was leaked for Cyclonus AND it's head design looks very similar to Starscream. I mean IDK guys, but my gut is telling me it is. I live to be proved wrong.

After seeing all of these commercials and trailers, I've noticed something I didn't catch the first time: It's going to be a rehash of the first film.
Wait...hang on!
"I...am Optimus Prime" *cue introductory montage*
One or more of the bots says something funny to make them endearing.
Bumblebee changes from "old & busted" into "the new hotness".
Giant city battle, once in flashbacks from Chicago, with the current climax in China.
The wow factor, this time coming from the Dinobots, like what happened with Optimus in the first one.
Joshua is Simmons with a new coat of paint.
Now Cade, instead of Sam, is telling Bumblebee "Faster Bee!" (and he's calling him Bee, too!)
The kids in the ball field remind me of the kids in the diner when Ratchet crashes to Earth.
Locations have changed, the villain's changed, character models have changed, but the rest of it strikes me as the first movie all over again. However, I'll be fair... This could be what the first film should've been, and could be a really strong film. I'm keeping an open mind, but I'm not ignoring the common threads here.
There are some positive changes, however:
The humans DO hate the Autobots and this could lead to a strong story.
The scene with Attinger and Cade shows there's at least a slight bit of character development and some serious undertones.
Optimus actually fires AT humans (doesn't kill, but fires at!) and protects the family first, instead of Bumblebee handling that task. (As he usually does.)
If the positives have enough impact, if the story's stronger than it's predecessors, then this could be a fantastic film.
