With the release of the KO Vintage looking Generation 1 Mirage, one had to wonder if this might happen, especially with the recent E-Hobby BT Electro Disruptor Clear Rijie (Mirage), and the recent 2007 Botcon Transparent Blue Mirage Give Away Figure.
Here we have an auction for the GHOST version of G1 Mirage, although it is a KO version, so the quality is unknown, and likely to be poorer than the quite fragile vintage G1 version.

Here's some images for you too!
It looks so cool, I have bought one for my collection to complete the 'invisible' Mirage set!!

I wonder what kind of plastic quality it has?
It would look so cool in a dark display case, with a black light.

Seeing as how the regular addition KO's of G1 Mirage are going for about that much, I figured I'd give it a shot.
Buzz kills...

Of all the KO's to purchase this is a very cool one. I'm sure that Tigertracks won't be disappointed with it, so long as its in one piece.

All the G1 accurate vintage KO's have been expensive as of late, Swoop, Prime, now Mirage, the soon to come Wheeljack, they cost more than Takara would price them at. Takara would have the advantage of higher quality, but also higher production run numbers.
I see this as a variant. I have other KO variants of TFs, and I have been quite happy with them, but they are usually different colored versions than their vintage shelves.
This was too hard to pass up, as it was a sweet transparent figure, and a KO of the hard to find Mirage mold. I hope it is relatively tight and doesn't have that cheap feel.
If it does, oh well, I'm treating him as an exclusive version of the fig, even if it is just a KO to me it's a cool variant that I couldn't pass up.

If I was a disgrunteled Brit it'd be 'ARrrr...'
I'm not. Sorry about the spelling mistake. My students would have my head if they knew.

Sorry, I have to actual wait for them to ship it to me before I can review it. I'm in the US, it's not, so it'll be a couple weeks.
So don't hold your breath or anything...

Broke or lost is the rumor.
At this time, I would guess it has to do with money. HASBRO found that the G1 commemoratives do not sell altogether too well here in the states. Too many sit on shelves, even when clearanced.
However, Tak/Tomy may go that way soon. They are rumored to be heading more to the adult collector arena, and G1 re-issues, especially rare versions, would attract a lot of collectors to them.
The rumored Sky Lynx re-issue, and the Encore line are proof that they seem to like re-issues again, and with them still using and apparently creating Masterpiece molds, it looks like our best bet is for them to get us our beloved rare re-issues.
As to why they don't use what the KO'ers are using, I have no idea, except that I think the way the KO'ers are doing it creates poor product that is loose and fragile for the most part.
I'll let you know what I think of these when I grab that Mirage. Purists will tell you to stay away from KO's, but if they are high quality, and figures you really desire at much more affordable prices, I say, why not???
