The latest issue of Newtype (USA edition) has an interview with someone very close to the production of the Armada television show, director Hidehito Ueda. In the interview he reveals that Armada was originally going to be a direct continuation of G1 (picking up after Rebirth) but Hasbro axed that idea. I´m going to say this again so it can really sink in. Hasbro axed the idea of a direct sequel to G1, and instead, gave us what is now Armada. Also, Unicron wasn´t added until fairly late in production. So they had to really try to squeeze him in there. This, according to Ueda, is why the pacing for the series is so erratic. He also says that they were under constant supervision by Hasbro US. So, if you don´t like the Armada cartoon, blame Hasbro. Of course, we´ve all blamed Hasbro from the very beginning, so it´s not too different. Point to them for giving us Unicron though...
