BBTS Sponsor News: New Hasbro Transformers - Voyager, Deluxe, Legends

Blitzwing/Springer pre-ordered. It's a damn shame when it's cheaper to buy figures online than to buy them in retail stores. Factoring in gas prices and the Pile of Loot feature, buying these from BBTS is cheaper than getting them from my local Wal-Mart. I might as well be living in BFE. Living in Miami used to be an advantage as I never needed to go online to buy Hasbro stuff. But now theres no savings in "hunting" these days.

$22 for 2 legend class figures? that cant be right, are they really charging an extra $5 for a target master or am i missing something here?

The legend figures look somewhat small in the photos. They are deluxe class aint they? Or did I dream that?

They're supposed to be Scout/Commander size, as far as I remember.
With the targetmasters around Legends/Legion size.

What is that red, white, orange and green crime against Transformers color pallets?

Just Pre-ordered thru TFS.

Its funny how I picked up grimlock and blaster at TRU for $55 and my order at TFS was about $57 incl shipping. Looks like preordering is the way to go these days with the high gas prices.

I cant wait for Springer!

I think the OP and BB figures are a little smaller than traditional Scouts/Commanders, and the smaller ones appear to be closer to Mini-con size than Legend/Legion size. Of course we're all just speculating since the pics don't provide any scale, but just judging by the simplicity of the smaller figures, they look more like Minicons than Legends, and the larger figures don't appear to have as much detail or articulation as Commanders/Scouts typically do.

Also, if these sets included a Commander-scale figure (typically $10) AND a Legion-scale figure (typically $6), they wouldn't be selling them for $10-$11 each. My guess is the larger figures are somewhere between Legend and Scout size and the smaller figures are Minicon size.

Yes, get these guys out.

I'm sick of waiting a year for each figure to become available.


Slight trivia. On the old G1 cartoon Blitzwing was the only one to recognize the Quintissons and now all his incarnations are face swappers themselves.

I preordered the Triplechangers. I want those badly enough that I'm willing to pay a few extra bucks and NOT willing to drive all over town hoping to find them.

I want the Generations Legends too, but I have a feeling they'll be easy to find in stores.

Preordered the triple changers as well. Toys R Us hasn't been reliable in ages. It's best to preorder figures you really want.

Preordered the triple changers myself. Availability in Canada is even worse than it is for you guys and with our higher retail prices and sales tax it works out to about the same once you figure in shipping and customs. I'd rather have the peace of mind of knowing I can actually get these.

Like the others I've preordered Springer and Blitzwing. I want Storm Razer too, but I refuse to buy him with 2 other figures whom I don't want. I think BBTS is seeing that, hence why they don't seem to be offering Prime Deluxe figures separately right now.

Personally, I'd prefer if they didn't include that gimmick. IMO the overall head sculpt almost always suffers when you implement face-swapping--V1 MP Seekers had rather flat faces due to their ability to flip face-plates for different expressions.

While I don't mind it on the MP seekers since it adds display value and character, the faces on Blitzwing are too reminiscent of his TFA incarnation, which IMO, feel very out of place with his G1 design. While we've only seen his normal and "icy" faces, the icy one looks too TFA for my tastes. Also, his normal face has the visor too low, leaving a gap between it and the rim of his "helmet."

In any case, G1 Blitzwing never had this feature, so I personally think it's unnecessary.

That said, maybe the kids will love it. Gotta keep reminding myself it's a kid's toy line, not MP.

TL;DR, not a fan of his 3-face gimmick because the icy face reminds me too much of his TFA incarnation and creates problems with face proportions, and looks out of place on his neo-G1 toy.

I never said you had to be a kid to enjoy these gimmicks, just that I personally prefer a single head sculpt and pointed out the reasons why.

X is quite possibly the most...unreasonable is the word I'll go with...GEEWUNER on this forum. If it's not EXPLICITLY G1, he has something bad to say about it.
And by something, I mean he usually comes up with some sort of rant.

And they're FoC characters (i.e. Aligned universe), so you could very reasonably state that GEEWUN does not necessarily dictate the voyager triple changers outside of the visual homage.

In any case, I'm glad you took a better look at the pictures.

2) Lots of people like to compare new toys to G1 and are often disappointed. Problem is that Hasbro clearly isn't all that interested in G1 any more so their throw backs to old characters are never going to be very accurate. There will always be something that doesn't fit. In this case, the homeage to Animated Blitzwing.

You've got a point there. Honestly, the only problem I had with the gimmick was that from the earlier pics it looked too close to TFA Blitzwing, but it wasn't upon close inspection. That, and the visor issue on his normal face, which was IMO a silly screw up on the designer's part. I mean, can't he just move the darn visor a couple mm higher and not make it look like he has an unusually high forehead?

FoC? I know they're part of the Generations line, but if they were FoC, shouldn't the toys be made from their Cybertronian designs?

As for Aligned...ah, the wonders of Google and TFwiki. I've seen this name mentioned in some articles, but never knew what it was until just now. I guess you're right, technically.

But then again, I wonder why they didn't just go with the FoC Cybertronian designs instead of vague neo-Earth modes?

I'm not complaining, though. The designs from the video games depended quite a bit on CGI magic, which when translated to toys, could easily lead to inaccuracies such as skewed proportions and even faux kibble (a pet peeve of mine.) Designing the triple changers from scratch without media references allows designers to make a better toy, and that's what's most important.

I don't think these are meant to be their FoC incarnations. Maybe they are, does it specify FoC on their boxes like it did on Soundwave's.

I think these are just versions meant to stand in for the character as a whole without owing to any specific continuity which is why there's a mix of different features (G1, animated) Hasbro would be happy that you just buy the figure and slot 'em into whichever collection you want.

Agreed, the artwork we saw shortly before we saw the final product was nice, and cybertronian designs do sometimes leave a lot of leeway so they DON'T have to do faux parts, but I'm glad they went with the designs they went with, they look SO GOOD.

Preordered Springer x2, that was an easy decision. Still unsure about Blitzwing. Robot mode: its cool, the face gimmick is a nice touch, not really my thing but OK. Tank mode: is where this thing looks the best and really shines(IMO). Jet mode: is the worst, looks like it has potential, it has a somewhat streamline look but the big rectangular blocks on the top just rub me the wrong way.

I do acknowledge your complaint, but to my knowledge Blitzwing's jet mode has always been a bulkier jet design. I guess it's because he turns into a giant tank as his third mode.

Hey, at least the jet mode doesn't have a huge tank turret that either attaches awkwardly to the bottom of the jet or has to be taken off and set aside! The "big blocks" on top of the jet are OK with me, as they remind me of Jetfire.
