Normally Big Lots is a good place to look for older toys and potato chips from brands you've never heard of, but look at this, something new! Thanks to a sighting by our very own xRotorstormx of the Twincast Podcast crew we have news of the BotBots 5-packs showing up at Big Lots. Priced at $10 and appearing before most major retailers the 5-packs feature four visible figures and one secret figure under the red bubble, similar to the single figures that started showing up during the holidays.

Big Lots used to have the coolest TF KOs about 17-12 years ago, until Hasbro cracked down on the Operation Combination/upscaled Cybertron Legends KOs, kiboshing the greatest army-builder ever knocked off: red and yellow Tetra-seekers in scale with Titanium. Perhaps not that relevant, but a sore spot for me given the news about Hasbro's legal victory in China, and the fact that in exchange, we hardly got jack for official TFs in Big Lots.

But now, FINALLY, I have reason to go there again, so...yay.

Those Big Lots KOs were about the only KOs I'd tolerate since they're mostly garbage and aren't intended to replace or substitute official products the way "G1 reissue" KOs and OSKOs are. Most of the Big Lots KOs I have I already have the original and only buy them as novelties for their bright colors and weird dumbed down transformations.

I'll be at Big Lots next week, hope to find some of BotBots then.

Nobeeoh is my daughters favorite. She and I were down in the basement on Saturday playing with our collection of BotBots and TF's. Everyone we were playing with had to get an application of deodorant including my daughter and myself. My daughter was cackling so loud my wife came down to see what was so funny, and immediately got her own application of deodorant.

So we knew the new year would bring about more Botbots, but that was all we knew, until now. Hasbro has updated their Australian site to include 4 new 5 packs which include new Botbots. 2 of those are new molds, and include a rolling pin and mixer. Both of those feature the colour change gimmick, which may be similar to the good old rub stamp effect. Both of these new molds are included in each of the 5 packs. The rest of the packs vary between redecos of previous Botbots including the soap dispensor in white and the pizza bot turned into a pie bot (the later works really well as a redeco). The packaging hints at even more redecos such as a white version of the book Botbot.

You can find all the images below which are followed by a full product description from the Hasbro site.

Transformers BotBots Toys Bakery Bytes Mystery 5-Pack Series 1 -- Collectible Color Change Figures!
AUD $14.99

Approx. retail price

WHERE TO BUY
ITEM: E4925

AGES: 5 YEARS+

Not long ago, a flowing mist of Energon came down from the sky and covered a shopping mall. The objects inside were brought to life as little Transformers robots! These bots can hide in plain sight as everyday objects, meaning no one knows what's a bot and what's not! Mischievous, funny, and super silly, these are… BotBots!

BotBots characters are little figures with big personalities! These collectible toys are around 1-inch tall and change from totally normal stuff to adventurous little robots in 3 to 5 easy steps. Makes a great gift for kids ages 5 and up!

Each Bakery Bytes pack includes 5 figures from 2 exclusive teams: 3 from the Bakery Bytes and 2 from the Lawn League! 2 of the included Bakery Bytes characters have color change features. Just rub the figure to reveal the hidden color! Also look for Lawn League 8-packs (sold separately, subject to availability).

See available BotBots characters at transformersbotbots.com

I honestly don't care for these things. Having "official" transformers that turn into food and other "disposable" items just seems odd. If they weren't labelled as Transformers, or were explained away as being completely mechanical, with fake (food) disguises (or were monsters and robots from somewhere else), then I'd be more interested. The other main reason though, is that I can't understand what the bot or alt modes are meant to be half of the time.

Ha!, so they have officially made it big time and have repaints. Damn you Hasbro, you brilliant bastards. I'm going to need that piece of pie.

I love these! My kids and I are having a blast with these little guys. It's funny, though, because I was just thinking about possible redecos of Duderoni (the pizza guy), but only in terms of different pizza toppings. This works so much better.

It looks like the Sudsbeard (soap dispenser) redeco might be a jug of plant food (or weed killer?), given the logo on his hat and the fact that the other new team is called the Lawn League.

In that case, I see the belt sander getting turned into a mower in our future.

I saw the 8-packs over the weekend. But I'm trying to limit myself. I have my few that I really want, and they call come in the 5 packs too I believe. The Penguin, the Unicorn, and the Donut are my top 3, also wouldn't mind the earphones

It's something called "Poopsie", something about unicorn toys that poop slime or something. I'm not looking it up, I'll start getting weird emails from stores trying to sell it to me and targeted ads. I really don't get toys these days. Maybe Hasbro should start making BotPlops or something?

For those currently engrossed in the newest and arguably strangest addition to the Transformers franchise, we have good news for you! BotBots has just recently acquired merchandise in the form of shirts and sweatshirts, available directly from Amazon.com! Current listings feature five unique designs, in a wide assortment of T-Shirts ($19.99-$21.99), Long Sleeves ($31.99), Crewneck Sweatshirts ($36.99) and Pullover Hoodies ($41.99).

The entire current catalog, including the sample above, can be found here, but only time will tell if new additions are made over time. All current offerings are in stock and ready to ship out, so no need to wait if you want to get your hands on this absurd apparel.

Does this odd expansion to an already odd toyline interest you at all? Do the designs excite you with the prospect of more? If there are more, which BotBot would you like featured? Let us know in the forums below, and stay tuned to Seibertron.com for more Transformers News and Reviews.

Bummer, the one I like the best is only available in adult sizes and I wanted to get a matching one for my youngest. Oh well, the one I like second best is still pretty cute.
