Important information, including the cast of the five figure Convention box set has been revealed. Set cost is $305 for club members, $375 for non-members.
At Botcon 2010, an Autobot will step forward to lead this NEW Generation! The Autobot SPARK, as he is called by the closest to him, was the first in this new Generation. Alongside SPARK is the Protectobot STREETWISE who doesn't know when to quit. He has definitely received an upgrade from Generation 1 including an all new color scheme!
Not to be outdone, the Decepticons have their own "next generation" as well led by CLENCH, a con with an outlaw attitude, and with Stunticon help from the always suspicious BREAKDOWN. The Decepticons are ready to take the war to a whole new level! And now, they have found just the robot to help them do it!
The Predacon General SKYBYTE has discovered a way to refine a mysterious substance known as Forestonite. By itself, the substance is harmless. But SKYBYTE has found a way to manipulate its properties, and the Decepticons are all to eager to use it on... themselves? What does this substance do and what effects will it have on Transformers? All will be revealed this summer at Botcon 2010.
Don't miss out on the all-new 2010 convention set Generation 2 - Redux!

Somebody suggested that, most likely, the Onslaught mold will be used.

Though if Animated molds were allowed to bleed in, Bulkhead would fit the bill, or Ultra Magnus, whose vehicle mode seems likely inspired by the original Pyro.
Animated molds in blinding G2 colors: why let KOs hog that market?
I'm a tad disappointed that R.I.D. Skybite is being somewhat nonsensically included instead the Cybertronian army finally getting some overdue toys. Maybe we'll get a Jhiaxus, Rook, or Mindset, but not in the box. I'm just not following the R.I.D. connection here: because like G2, it sported Combaticons in strange colors, Spychangers/Gobots, and the Laser Optimus Prime mold? Not that the toys will disappoint, but I'm just not getting the angle of this Botcon's stab at a storyline. Am I missing somthing?

General Admission gets you into the convention center on Saturday and Sunday. This gives you access to the Sales Room, autograph lines, and (i think) the Panels. As for which events are taking place at which times on those days, you will have to check the schedule at the convention for that.
General Admission is not allowed to attend the Saturday Night Dinner. Only Primus Package holders and their Minicons. No Protoforms or General Admissions.

I attended the dinner in 2008 as an Iacon attendee. I'm sure it has to be either of those to attend.

Here's hoping that this Pyro figure, that has never been transformed or removed from its packaging, doesn't suffer too badly from GPS. Keep your fingers crossed. I just want to do a gallery of him. I don't care if he breaks later down the road as long as I've got pics of him in perfect condition.

There was no Energon Sky-byte. You must mean Sharkticon. Skybyte was from RID, in which it was a repaint of Cybershark from BW. Since that mold is from 10+ years ago, I doubt they're going to use it. It'll for sure have to be Energon Sharkticon.
I wasn't expecting Skybyte at all, but hey I guess I'll take it.

yeah i meant a repaint of energon sharkticon into skybyte which i always thought would be a great idea for a repaint
and i think clench is badass too but i didnt want to pay 150 bucks to get a posable version of him

I guess I can see the logic of lumping in some European G1 stuff, but what the heck is the point of doing G2 versions of Breakdown or Streetwise? "Hey, this is what it might look like if we'd repainted these guys in garish colors too"? At least if they'd remade actual G2 concepts there would be some nostalgia attached to the ugliness.
I'm a little disappointed, I guess. I came of age in the G2 era, so I was excited to see those toys get some love.

If you did a little looking around, you'd know that G2 Protectobots and Stunticons were planned, but were unreleased: only Breakdown was released as the very first BotCon exclusive back in 1994. For your enjoyment:
Generation 2 Protectobots
Blades
First Aid
Groove
Streetwise
Generation 2 Stunticon
Breakdown
Plus, Spark and Clench were both G1 and G2, in 1993 and 1994 respectively. SkyByte is the only odd one out. I wonder if his bio will have a haiku in it.

i think it is their attempt at a joke concerning the toys that came in the latter half of the series(Cryotek
Megabolt
Jhiaxus
Dreadwind & Smokejumper)that had no fiction of their own so thier fiction was eventually shoehorned into the Universe line.convoluted,yesss.

Ok, I sent a qustion to Fun Pub at the Botcon site regarding the customization class. My question was, "Regarding the customization class. I don't care what day I can go, I just want to make sure I can get in, so do I sign up for both days and hope to get one of them?"
Answer: "No. Classes are limited to 1 per person. The online system will know how many are left and if you register in time, you will have the option to select a class. If it is full it won't you choose it."
So it looks as if you will see the option available for the classes if there are spots left. Boy do I hope I can get in. This will be the first year I'm trying to get into the class and I've finally have the funds set aside for this whole thing!!

Then again I could see them using Octane, ahem, Tankor mold since it is a cheaper toy.

Sky-Byte might be an odd addition, yes. But as for the rest of the character's, they are all G2 related. As was pointed out, Breakdown, released at Botcon 94 was part of a planned rerelease of the Stunticons, which never happened. Ditto Streetwise, who was part of a planned release of the Protectobots, which also never happend. Unlike Breakdown, though, he was never released. Pyro and Clench, while released in Europe at the tail end of G1, are usually counted as G2 toys.

I like the idea of all the characters, but only Skybyte if it is Energon Sharkticon. I also am only sold on Clench if he is some awesome repaint of a good mold. Onslaught would be acceptable. Octane/Tankor, not so much.
Plus, the sets and freebee are still anyone's guess.

The name Rapido was bounced around as a rumour. Personally I'm hoping that Rotorsotrm and Stalker will be the two larger figs in the atendee only sets.

I really think that Black Sideswipe would be the freebee. Just makes so much sense to me, but then again, they already have the mold used for P/CP and Breakdown, so I could see them not using it.

I was looking for some semi trucks that were not cab-over, and since it appears that the movie line is not applicable... The only other transformer from the Unicron Trilogy that would come close is Energon Optimus.
Edit: Err....I meant Armada Optimus (also re-released in Cybertron, I think)

He was already used for last year's Thunderclash, so he's out Clench is a doozy to guess...

I mean the shoulders make him a dead ringer, and a Voyager is more likely then an Ultra.
Everything else is pretty obvious.
Now the real questions begin!
Who will be the free attendee figure?
Who will be in the other two side sets?
I'm thinking that blue Glyph we saw a week ago will be the free attendee figure.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a few laserrods or rotorforce characters in there.

This is killing me, too. I figured we'd be seeing more of these exclusives on auction sites by now.

I'd agree with you, except they haven't used movie figs in the past. I doube they'll start now.
I mean the shoulders make him a dead ringer, and a Voyager is more likely then an Ultra.
I don't know, last year there was an ultra and a voyager in the box set (Land Shark and Flak)
Everything else is pretty obvious.
Sadly yes
Who will be the free attendee figure?
I'm hoping either Black Sideswipe or G2 Ramjet
Who will be in the other two side sets?
My dream sets would have Energon Bulkhead as Rotorstorm and Cybertron Defence Red Alert as Stalker. I think there'll be G2 minibots Bumblebee, Beachcomber and Cliffjumper thrown in too. I've heard the rumour that Rapido will make a scene too.
I'm thinking that blue Glyph we saw a week ago will be the free attendee figure.
That'd be cool. The shade of blue would match the theme. Skram perhaps?
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a few laserrods or rotorforce characters in there.
That would rule, though I cannot think of decent modern molds that could do them the justice they deserve.

Botcon security is usually pretty tight, last year was the first year we know much of anything figure-wise. 2008 was a huge surprise. No one saw Megatron until 1 week before the conference.

Done! Okay... next?
Posted by Jelze Bunnycat on April 17th, 2010 @ 9:34am CDT
So far we got:
Autobot Spark: Universe Inferno
Breakdown: Universe Sideswipe (1st of 2 new heads)
I'm guessing:
Streetwise: Universe Prowl (possibly new head), possibly even Energon Prowl
Skybyte: Energon Sharkticon
Clench: Unfortunately, I'm relinquishing to Universe Onslaught. (2nd of 2 new heads)
Why Onslaught? The case breakdown has roughly been like this for the past years:
1 Ultra
1 Voyager
3 Deluxes or smaller.
Everything's covered except the Ultra.

Spark - Voyager
Breakdown - Deluxe
assume:
SkyByte - Deluxe and E-Sharkticon mold <-- this I've known, but can't remember who told me
Streetwise - Deluxe Prowl mold
Clench - all that is left is the Ultra and I have nooo idea what mold will be used. I hear it's bad ass though. Buut what I am personally wanting is that they use Cyb Prime, cause his bot mold is just so nice and I'd like to see it as a con. But most people are guessing Uni Onslaught and I'd be ok with that as well.
