With a peculiar choice of timing, as a lot of people not in the US are probably still/already celebrating the arrival of the New Year, the official
BotCon Twitter account and the
official website have 'revealed' this year's theme for the convention exclusive set. It looks like you'll be hunting for Cybertron's Most Wanted in 2015 - a set of supposedly five figures nicknamed The Thief, The Muscle, the Loose Cannon, The Bounty Hunter and The Boss!

So we'll get a 5 figure boxset... What would Blue Bacchus fall under?

So, no actual, useful information. Just speculation fuel. Their hype trains have gone from kind of sad to downright annoying.

Yup, that's definitely a theme. It's better than "Pirates v Knights (2014)" which was dumb. Yes they were pirates versus knights, but that's not a theme, those are bullet points about the theme. Anyhow, I think the club would be happier of they came out and said "We've been watching allota the Steve Buscemi show, and while we can't make theme on Cybertronian Prohibition, we can make it it about gangsters and the mafia". Because that would be more badass so far than what appears, thus far, to be thugs, that are thrust into a position where they have to be the antiheroes and save the world. If they keep going the criminal route, I want it to be about bad people doing bad things, no heroics.

I dunno... based on my enjoyment of Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, Han & Chewbacca.... some not-quite-good-guys doing good in the end might come out to be a decent story. I'm optimistic.

Gah! You beat me to it!
Either way, sounds awesome, I'd love to see some lesser known characters, such as:

Regarding last year's set... I was a little lukewarm until I got the assortment of Renderform accessories in matching colors. The gold, bronze, and silver swords look especially nice with all the pirates. Definitely made the whole team snap into focus. The knight weapons are equally nice, but work better with the larger figures like Convoy and Alpha Trion.
I'd totally recommend them if there are any left in stock.

what are the odds that "The Muscle" will be TFP:RID Breakdown's toy? That would be awesome.

Here's my wild guess.
Transformers Prime Beast Hunters toys, based in the Beast Wars: Uprising TFCC universe.

So they're going with the outlaw theme because the location is Chicago? Or is that just coincidence?
Also, I'd like to see a set consisting of a team of characters, much like the Stunticons from 2011, regardless of which molds they use. Considering the theme, this would be a great representation of the Combaticons.

Between their description and you mentioning Han and Chewie, I now have the Star Wars novel "Scoundrels" stuck in my mind. That having been said, the bar is now raised pretty darn high. They are going to be hard pressed to impress me with whatever selection they have in store for us but I have to say that I'm still liking the general theme. I'm just not too keen on everyone getting all excited over using this, that & the other Prime figures for their selection. I think there are still plenty of Classics/Generations/Movie figures that could be repurposed and even some Cybertron series figures that could see another go. I'm not at all a fan of the Prime or TFA figure lines so even if I'm liking the basic idea, I'll totally pass on getting the sets if they are mostly TFA/TFP figures.

Figures the setting would be Nexus 208.0 epsilon... Which basically means the gloves are officially off: Axiom Nexus is the New York City of the multiverse, a real melting pot.
