I'm a very internally-torn individual.

Why would you think Kicker? He's the son of Zarak...Mindmaster wrote:...Y'know what? I like it. I'm confident (and friggin' excited) that the next reveal will be pretty [enter appropriate explicit remark that reflects excitement]. Half of me doesn't want it to be the Energon Kicker mold (if it's meant to be), but the other half of me is like "Yeah... I could get behind that".

Drawing a blank here. I get it's a reference to Headmasters, but that's it.
If it was in any of Tornado's transmissions/Google documents, I'm kinda unable to open them at the moment (partly because my computer went kaput, forcing me to use my iPod for any and all internet access).

If he does transform could head master from scorponok, or minicon, if they decide to give him human body be kicker it woild be nice if he is headmaster I buy new upgrade head for scorponok if he looks good in head/bot mode,.
maybe its combination of both kicker that transforms into head master, that wouldnt to be bad if its made properly to fit onto big headmasters im little excited to see finished product find out if they go with headmaster route hate to see it if its kicker body with bot head on his back that doesnt transform into headmaster that will look terrible bring this concept to life

* Olin is Zarak's son.
* Zarak was the Headmaster of Scorponok
* This is 30 years after the G1 cartoon
* Fun Pub is using an Energon mold this year
* Fun Pub will be doing something they've never done before
* The last page is full of posts talking about this
We could be getting a new version of G1 Scorponok made from Energon Scorponok with a full-fledged transforming Headmaster head as Olin.

Alrighty.

Sweet potatoes.
* Fun Pub will be doing something they've never done before
Which is awesome.

As much as I love this thread, my viewing capabilities have been rather... limited, for lack of a better term. Goddamn laptop decided to quit functioning on me at the worst possible moment of my senior year.

Oh, okay.
Now I offer this as my response:

Just had an insane idea. What if... it'll be a combination of Generation One Scorponok and Zone General Black Zarack? Like, the body of Energon Scorponok, the transforming Headmaster partner of Olin, but decoed like his Zone self?
Insanity? I think so not!

I don't care regardless. I'm just here to watch the BotCon boys throw the rest of you some bones and watch you all go nuts over something that is going to get shoe-horned into being canon in the most abstract or utterly absurd manner imaginable.

For the past 27 years, the Nebulon I've most wanted to see get a toy is Zarak's daughter, thank you.
Now as for this guy..."Olin"...maybe he was forced into a life of piracy by a scandal over the gastrointestinal side effects of his fat-substitute food additive? That wouldn't be much odder than half the backstories Budianski came up with for the TFU entries of 1988 Nebulons.
Or maybe it's supposed to be close enough to "Odin" to imply that the version of Scorponok he's binary bonded to will have some mythical, borderline godly power?
Or maybe a reference to astronomer Olin Wilson?
Or just a random name with no relation to any daddy-issues that might define who he is?
Whatever. There was a time when Scorponok was my favorite G1 'Con, but for some reason I was never crazy about the Energon toy, worthy homage though the character was. It would still be neat to see it become an actual Headmaster; maybe make a cockpit by gutting the electronics? Or if that'd be way too expensive, just have Olie stand on the powerlinx points. As for the paint job, Zazorigan's colors would be new enough to the mold, but all the red would be close to Double Punch's Beast Wars color scheme...whatever that might end up signifying if you display it next to DP's 2010 toy.

Llyra will be acknowledged in this story.Bumblevivisector wrote:Much as I try to avoid knee-jerk negativity to that which is new, someone has to say it:

The reason they created a brother for her is because the story they wanted to tell called for a role that he would be better suited to play than his anti-Decepticon/anti-Headmaster sister would.
You are aware that "Olin" is a real name, right? It's a Scandinavian name that typically means "heir", which fits for his inheriting his father's Scorponok creation.Bumblevivisector wrote:Now as for this guy..."Olin"...maybe he was forced into a life of piracy by a scandal over the gastrointestinal side effects of his fat-substitute food additive? Hey that is actaully valid point, where is Zaraks daughter, that woulda been the easy way to go quite honestly, some pre-established fiction.

Our 4th reveal for the BotCon 2014 Convention set - PIRATES VS KNIGHTS! This is our BIGGEST reveal yet. Olin, son of Zarak, and rightful heir to the Hive creation known as... SCORPONOK!
For the 30th anniversary we have pulled out all the stops and engineered from an existing mold the first Headmaster toy released in 25 years. Scorponok utilizes an original 1987 Headmaster mold, featuring an all-new cartoon accurate sculpted face, as the character Olin Zarak. To make the Headmaster function work, we also created a new rotating piece located in his chest cavity which, once Zarak is transformed, allows him to become the head of Scorponok in robot mode!
This is the centerpiece of the 2014 convention set. We have in hand samples and we are thrilled at what a remarkable toy he is. We can’t wait for everyone who wants one to get their hands on this amazing figure!
To check out Scorponok, be sure to click the “Con Exclusives” link to the left! We will have the BotCon Brochure and online registration available this month, so stay tuned for more toy reveals, guest announcements and all kinds of information regarding the biggest and best Transformers convention of the year, BotCon 2014!

Scorponok and Devcon are what BotCon figures should be all about. This is how you get butts in seats at a convention. Nice work. Kudos all around. Thank you BotCon!

I find it hard to believe that they would go this far with a joke, what with not one but two pieces of artwork of Zarak Jr., and all the hype built up around this character with tweets from BotCon's Twitter page and Facebook statuses from Tornado's Facebook page.
