"When the first TRANSFORMERS movie was setting box office records, we had countless customers asking to purchase the 'BUMBLEBEE' Camaro," said Karen Rafferty, product marketing director, Chevrolet. "Now, they can buy one with the new Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition. Streets all over North America will be buzzing in no time."
Features such as an EPA-rated 29 highway mpg on the V6-powered Camaro, Bluetooth phone connectivity, USB connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and OnStar combined with TRANSFORMERS design cues add to the car’s status as a 21st century sports car.
“Hasbro is thrilled to team up with Chevrolet and excited to see the Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition come to market for our fans to enjoy,” said Samantha Lomow, Global Brand Leader for TRANSFORMERS at Hasbro. “The yellow Camaro with the black stripes has become so iconic and closely associated with the BUMBLEBEE character that this edition was a natural fit for both companies.”
While the aggressive styling of the Camaro is unmistakable, true TRANSFORMERS fans will notice some of the unique, but subtle features of the Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition.
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition includes the following:
* AUTOBOT® shield on the driver and passenger side panels
* AUTOBOT® shield on each of the four wheel's center cap
* AUTOBOT® shield embroidered on interior center console
* "TRANSFORMERS" logo on driver and passenger doors' sill plates
* "TRANSFORMERS" logo embedded into the hood rally stripes
* High-gloss black center rally stripe package
* Manufacturer’s suggested retail price of package: $995
Dealers are now taking orders for this car. Customers can order the TRANSFORMERS Special Edition as either a Rally Yellow LT or SS model. The optional RS appearance package can also be added.
The V6-powered Camaro uses a 3.6L engine with variable valve timing to optimize performance and fuel economy. It is SAE-certified at 304 horsepower (227 kW) and 273 lb.-ft. of torque (370 Nm). A six-speed manual transmission is standard with the 3.6L engine; a Hydra-Matic 6L50 electronically controlled six-speed automatic, with TAPshift control, is available.
The high-performance Camaro SS is equipped with a powerful 6.2L V-8, with a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Manual transmission-equipped models receive the LS3 engine, SAE-certified at 426 horsepower (318 kW) and 420 lb.-ft. of torque (569 Nm). It is paired with a TR6060 six-speed transmission.
A new, L99 V-8 engine is used on automatic transmission-equipped SS models. It is based on the LS3, but also includes GM’s fuel-saving Active Fuel Management feature. It is SAE-certified at 400 horsepower (298 kW) and 410 lb.-ft. of torque (556 Nm). It is matched with a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed transmission that helps delivers an EPA-estimated 25 mpg on the highway.

My only concern would be owning it and worrying about it being vandalized by people and having the autobot emblems stolen.

Then I'll paint it red, and get a license plate saying "CLFJMPR".

We, TF fans get a freaking car based on a character of the silver screen. Not even Batman fans can buy a fully licensed Batmobile.
I say we're very lucky.

As are the front and rear bumpers, hood and rims. I have to say i'm really disapointed. I heard a few months ago that they were going to release the Transformers edtion Camaro and was hopeing to get a replica of the movie car. Not a standard Camaro with a bunch of emblems and stickers that i can get off ebay. DOn't get me wrong, i'm happy we got a car based on a character in the TF universe, but i think they dropped the ball a little. This could have been so much more.

Hey primal figure in the realm of 40K. Thats whast most of them at the dealership I work at for are going for. All depends on trim model. And those of you who are considering one get the SS.
Ok all you small minded people saying that the yellow is off and the bumpers are off. Bumblebee is a Z28 Camaro not an SS. The pics clearly shows this. If you look up the upcoming Z28 model which will come out next year that should have the correct bumpers. And the color is easily duplicated with a tinted clear coat.

Skip the paint job as it does come in red, and put the TF stuff on it. Id be tempted to do the logos to a dark grey one myself.

Bluavalanche Z71 roughly touched up on this.....Hi BTW,
The marketed LS and SS is more to character with the first movie Camaro concept which was...well a concept at that time. The SS model pictured here is roughly close to what is featured in ROTF, the only thing is the bumper which I believe isn't available on any models be it the SS or the 2 SS (Opening price on the Chevy website is $34,225) Though I haven't heard anything on the Z28, I know this current Camero is pretty much a snap shot of the previously featured Camaro concept......so for you die hards out there rest contently in knowing that you'll have a pretty good replica of the first movie Bumblebee and a great car to boot.
Oh and the horsepower is not bad either. The opening model the LS (Starting at $23,040) is already packing 304 ponies. And it has a tap shift option which from what I've read can switch to automatic for those of you who don't like to roll the gears.....or people like me who commute on freeways from hell and hills so shifting becomes a little taxing verses tap shifting (Which is lots of fun ) And all models, for those of your worried about the decals and vandalism, come with a stripe paint option for certain color schemes. I liked the Black and orange stripe scheme myself topped off with a nice spoiler and the black rims (I'm not a rim guy). Then you can add decals to your leisure.
Beyond that, this is awesome. I mean it's a movie replica car!!!!!! And you can race it! I really don't care personally if it has the wrong bumper.....ITS A CAMARO.......MODELED AFTER BUMBLEBEE!!!!!! And it's pretty cheap concerning it's a muscle car! Cheaper then finding and restoring the older Camaro which gets less gas.....so stop your whining. Gah!
Alright I'm done,
Laters,
Josh

Your comment is completely uncalled for, there's nothing "small minded" about pointing out that the car is, in fact, the wrong color.
I don't believe that we, as fans, must sit back and mindlessly accept anything that is thrown our way. They could have done a better job and I have the right to criticize it just as much as you have the right to like it.

I would buy that, even being more of an Autobot fan. I just don't like the look of the new Camaro, or pretty much any other Camaro except for the 60's. The new Mustang looks way better. Ford got the retro design better than GM did.
And for the vandalism part, you put any easily removable TF symbol either boughten by yourself or installed by the car company, there would be a decent chance that it would get ripped off your car. That is why I went with vinyl emblems on mine. You can't rip them off and use them somewhere else.

the color is off. also, if we are going to pay good money for the car, why should we have to do a costly "tinted clear-coat"......as well as that isn't going to fix the whole problem. also, if the going price at that dealership would be around the $40 K mark, then that dealership is marking up the price well over the MSRP, even for an SS model equipped with the package. Hence the reason why GM is now owned by the American gov't and people. Well, I should say Part of the reason.

Small minded? It doesn't matter whether Bumble bee was an SS, RS, or the suppose upcoming Z28 (which considering GM's financial state, may,or may not becoming). This car pictured, is not Bumble Bee All this is is a standard Camaro (aperance wise)with black stripes and some emblems. It does not have the same rims, does not have the same front and rear bumpers, does not have the same hood and is not the same color. Heck, i could have accepted the standard rally yellow paint, but don't call it a movie replica when it clearly isn't.

Hi there!
While I'd agree that this "Movie replica" is more in line with the concept Camaro we got in the first film, thats not what GM was advertising in all there adds for the "transform your summer" with adds of the new Camaro. That, and when it was orignaly anounced that GM would be selling a camaro replica, they used pics of the ROTF Bumble Bee Camaro. The same thats in your Sig. Lets be honest, other than some eblems and stickers, there's nothing that seperates this "Bumbe Bee Replica" apart from other 2010' camaro's on the road. The ROTF Camaro really set itself apart from the others. When you look at that one,you instantly know your look at Bee.

Were these the advertisements I saw on the back of Entertainment Weekly? The one's where they had the tag line
"In Theatres July 24, In Garages now"
I recall GM putting up vids on their Chevy site going into further detail over the whole process of the Camaro....and how alot of what we see featured in Revenge of the Fallen was more "Concept" stuff, being the bumper and hood are in fact concept add on's, and therefore not available. The Closest you could come is adding on a Ground Trim package which get's you closer to the over all look, however the square trim around the fog lights are not included, and are rounded on all the available models being sold. So, generally, I'd say until GM releases these conceptual add on's, other then a custom job, there's no way to obtain a full on ROTF replica. But I'm not deterred, being I'm more then content with a TF1 movie replica of the Bee.
I'd say I'd agree with you that for those calling foul on the amount of decals and the "Transformers" logo trim on the hood and elsewhere....the best you could do is build your own at the Chevy website, and get what you want but pay less. Yes this car is nothing special outside of being yet another 2010 Camaro....except for the fact it's a 2010 CAMARO!!!!!
I mean, custom bumper or no custom bumper....this car is beautiful!!!!! I'm more then willing to settle for a 2010 Camaro any day and ride it up and down the PCH with the windows down blasting "Burning Down the House" then pouting over the concept bumper and hood. If the issue is $, like I said make your own, pay less, and add on to it at your leisure. If the issue is ethics in false advertisement, then don't buy the Transformer package and just settle for the normal LS Camaro package. It's cheaper, your ethics are intact, and if you still feel bad pick another color scheme and name it Cliffjumper or anything else you want.
Personally, if I do decide to dump my savings into this awesome machine.....I would pick another color scheme just for the fact that the yellow black stripe scheme is easier noticed and you'll invite more attention to yourself then you might want, including young rent-a-thug attention who would see to vandalize your car. Also on the freeways, it would be easier the spot your car because of the color scheme verses if you aquired a more darker tone...but this is for people like me who suffer from heavy feet/gas syndrome. Heh
I'm also interested in seeing if they are going to release the Stingray concept as well.....though being the marketed value, it will most likely be a limited run and waaaayyyyyyyyyy outside my price range....sigh.

Im saying 40K is where a loaded SS camaro price is at they're the lower end models that are cheaper. I work at the local chevy dealer, and I do some of the new car prepps. I drove an orange SS camaro yesterday with a window sticker of 38,928. After you go thru tax, title and liscense it will be over the 40K. Now the clear coat is the cheaper option to get the color right, right now.
The correct color and bumpers are picture below and reserved for the upcoming Z28 which has been delayed, but will be coming out. GM wants to compete against the Shelby mustangs ford is putting out.
My comment about the small minded was saying so what the car is not a perfect replica. I don't see any other movie cars that have been produced to this scale feel fortuate GM at least offering something. If your not happy about what is being offered righ now, there is nothing you can do about it, so why complain? Be happy that GM is at least considering doing this for the fans in their current financial state.

Yes, among several others. TV commercials, the original announcement of the Bumble Bee addition being produced even mentioned the fact that it was going to have the same bumpers, wheels and hood, but did say that it wasn't going to have the same color and instead was going to use the standard Rally yellow.

As i mentioned before, the original announcement, as well as the posters and banners all showed the ROTF Camaro as the one that was going to be produced. I understand that all the parts were concept at the time, but if GM wanted to do a replica, then they should have done just that.. A replica. Not a standard yellow Camaro with some badging and stickers and call it a replica.

And there in lies the problem. Not money, but the fact that if I'm going to pay the extra $, i want something truly special. Not a vehicle that can basically be built on Ebay for 1/4 of the mark up price. The hood, bumpers and all the other BB add ons is what made him just a little bit more special. But either way your definitely right. The 2010' Camaro is Bad Fu(king a$$!

Its not ethics, but again disappointment.

I don't have a problem owning bright colored vehicles. My current ride is a Yellow FJ Cruiser. I have no problems being scene, or anyone noticing me. I don't do anything to atractextra unwarranted attention anyways. (well, i try not to at least )
BluavalancheZ71 wrote:

I doubt it has anything to do with them reserving the color and bumpers for the Z28. If that were the case, they never made completely different bumpers and hood for BB all together. But more to due with the fact that GM just simply couldn't afford to mass produce even a short amount of hoods and bumpers for a movie replica. They really need to cross there T's and Dot there I's so to speak right now, and a true BB replica probably just wasn't in the financial works.
So saying that why am i still bitching? Cause i can of course! That and like i said... Its still disappointing. I kinda feel this is more of cheap ploy than anything else.

I find nearly all of your points valid, and I noticed alot of my verbage seemed to be directed to you....I didn't mean it that way, though you are very open which is kind of refreshing here ha ha ha. But my comments in general are open to everyone, and what I read in most threads as a whole. Mostly, I'm reading alot of people kind of just whinning about the bumper, which is fine, it's everyones right. But I just can't see all the disheartening feelings towards this car. But then again, maybe I'm reflecting this thread as a open discussion thread about the Camaro then about the "Transformers" package, in which case I can understand where people are coming from.
However being GM isn't exactly financially sound, for them to release a particular model bumper just for one specific model of car verses all SS or SS2 models....just isn't sound. I can see why GM wouldn't do that, being it doesn't seem like a sound investment for a company thats in rough waters right now. Perhaps they're seeing how the reception to this car and package is before they expand on further packages and customization parts?
But I understand paying that much more for a standard SS1...(I don't think the model featured here is the SS2 right?) Which is why I'm suggesting to everyone....build your own, pay less, and have fun.
Ah, FJ Cruiser....nice. I own a modest Mazda 3 being it saves me on gas. But I work her hard, even beaten a few Mustangs and Challengers. Both old and new. On these Cali freeways, it really isn't about speed then it is how good you can move that chassis ha ha ha ha Still she has some power behind here, which is why I'm reluctant to own this Camaro...I don't fully trust myself with it
I also read somewhere here the Stingray concept won't be manufactured at this time, which is sad. However I do see the car being released on a limited run, if only for the car collectors. But waaaayyyyyy down the road.
But anyways just to sum up...the 2010 Camaro reeks of Awesomeness. Pure and simple. And the price tag isn't too shabby, roughly 24K for 304 Horse Power and a tap shift option! Sign me up

Do you understand the logical fallacy in this argument? Why anyone would think it's acceptable to tell someone else they should just be happy with whatever they're given is beyond me. This is obviously always false. We, as fans, have the right to question and criticize anything and everything we want. The argument "there is nothing you can do about it, so why complain?" is invalid. We are entitled to our opinions, there is no universal law that dictates as fans we must praise everything.

What should be Universal Law is fans not being allowed to behave like pompous, spoiled, arrogant, bitchy little children and instead realize that we don't have a right to Sh**, but instesad have an obligation to represent ourselves to the rest of the world in a respectable manner or otherwise hit the bricks.
Do you realize that the Camaro line had been scheduled for shut-down and workers already given notice prior to TF2 and that it was this movie that brought the line back? Families have food on the table and roofs over their heads thanks to this car line and still some of you bitch about bumpers and detailing. You selfish brats! Damn few of you even desereve to breathe on this car let alone complain about it. The fact that our Constitution defends your right to behave so poorly and selfishly sickens me...

Well, i don't believe its anyone dislikes the car in general. I personally, love the new Camaro and am in in the Market for a new toy. When i heard there was a movie replica going to be made, i was really excited. Even passed up a good deal on a Challenger just cause i wanted to wait and see what the final product was going to be. So for me, its just disappointment. Nothing more, nothing less.

I can see why GM wouldn't do that, being it doesn't seem like a sound investment for a company thats in rough waters right now. Perhaps they're seeing how the reception to this car and package is before they expand on further packages and customization parts? .
Yup. I covered this in my last post.

On these Cali freeways, it really isn't about speed then it is how good you can move that chassis ha ha ha ha Still she has some power behind here, which is why I'm reluctant to own this Camaro...I don't fully trust myself with it .
Cool. I had a modded GTi. Fast little bugger. Upgraded nearly everything you can think of. Had alot of torque. Didn't even need to downshift on the freeway!

First, were bitching about bumpers, wheels, and hood. Get it right!
Second, for the record, i never said that we were entitled to anything. I just felt that we (and the general public) were miss lead into what was going to be released as the BB movie replica car. As i said earlier, I'm in the market for such a vehicle and held off on a few good deals to see what the final outcome of this was going to be. In the grand scheme of things its not a big deal. I could get a regular SS Camaro and be happy with that. But like i said before, its just disappointment. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Lets be honest, other than some eblems and stickers, there's nothing that seperates this "Bumbe Bee Replica" apart from other 2010' camaro's on the road. The ROTF Camaro really set itself apart from the others. When you look at that one,you instantly know your look at Bee.
If they would've made it an exact replica on ROTF bee, then the upgrade would have cost much more than 995.

As long as its a resonable mark up, thats fine. At least you would truely have something different than just a few emblems.
