That is not all! Obsidian was also kind enough to post Devastator's bio. Here is is:
"I hate anything shorter than me. And most taller things too." The incredible power of CONSTRUCTICON DEVASTATOR is rooted in the combination of five DECEPTICON warriors, but he is somewhat limited by their minds all competing for full control over his massive body. BONECRUSHER is a chaotic madman who lives to destroy, while LONG HAUL is a brooding genius with a talent for constructing the vast energy collection engines that supply the DECEPTICONS with power. HIGHTOWER is a chemistry lab on wheels whose passion for poisons and explosives is surpassed only by his dislike of his teammates. His polar opposite is SCAVENGER, who has an instinct for detecting valuable fuels and minerals, but is desperate for the approval and friendship of his fellow CONSTRUCTICONS. Finally there is DECEPTICON SCRAPPER, a quiet psycho whose first love is building monuments to his enemies -- out of their destroyed chassis."

Yes I would have the ability to make 2 Devastators 1 solely out of Shovels. and 1 solely out of Cranes, but is that really worth $29.76 I don't think so. Although he would look very symmetrical.

This on the other hand is nice.
Good bio too.

I agree. One of the reasons I am going to pick this up is the lack of translucent plastic weaponary. I like the solid purple.

That is one of the reasons I never picked them up originally.

Those purple bits are transparent too. They just seem to be a hazy/smoky transparent.

Come on Hasbro, where are our Classics Soundwave and Blaster figures! And I think it's about time Springer got a redo.

Lord Crump wrote:Exactly exactly. And yes, I too am going for the 100% Classics. This is the first line since Alts where I'm buying all of them. Not including Minicons or LoC figures. Cos they suck, and are in no way Classic.

You got the closest you're gonna get to Classics Soundwave with the reissue and Titanium. Blaster most likely won't happen and Springer got an homage in Energon as Bulkhead.

You are indeed correct. However, I do like the purple more then the blue.

I wish they could have called Hightower the name "Decepticon Hook", and 2 new molds would have been an improovement (a dumptruck and a cement mixer would rule!)
I'd also buy repaints of the Combaticons in G1 colors if they made them.

The thing is absolute crap, I have the energon version. No doubt this translucent plastic is weaker and lamer than its original shittastic version.
I usually like repaints, but this is one I totally draw the line at.
I wouldn't even let someone buy this p.o.s. for me as a gift.
Why couldn't we just get a new version of devastator as a large figure that transformed into a large construction vehicle or something,or something like 83457W422102 said.
Instead we get crap...THANKS HASBLOW!

microclone wrote:I'll agree with those who are saying hasbro should have released an all new devastator, it could have been great, it could have been REALLY great. As it stands alone the energon construction toys aren't that bad, the vehicles look good, the robos are half decent, its a bummer you get 2 doubles in there, that would make sense if the idea was a symmetrical toy but it was just shortcutting. I wish the head had been changed to give a more recognizable face, the devastator gestalt face is pretty poor. The combined mode itself is weaker than the sum of its parts but isn't a complete disaster (nor a complete devastator!). I don't like the claw type hands. The little energon/universe micromaster version is a way cooler toy and is more a devastator than this. i just wonder if this will be fetching $100 next year on ebay or will it end up on clearance as nobody likes it???? overall I dont mind this toy, id get it more for the individual bots.
I'm glad I got my mini-constructs when I did if this does happen.

Store exclusives are generally either redecoes or nothing at all. Given the choice, I'll take redecoes.

I thought the classics had the G1 spirit I love them. I just wish they would of made a new mold for Devastator. The only thing that would of made Classics = to G1 goodness is if they had some metal parts or a decal sheet. SWOON!!! That would of been wonderful.

I'm assuming you are an "original G1" fan here, but...
how come it was okay for 1980s Hasbro to do this but not 2007 Hasbro? Is it the nostalgia? Rose-tinted glasses perhaps? You can't criticise this practice unless you're also going to condemn:
Prowl - Bluestreak - Smokescreen
Trailbreaker - Hoist
Ratchet - Ironhide
Sideswipe - Red Alert
Grapple - Inferno
All the minibot redecos I can't be bothered listing (e.g. Huffer & Pipes)
Rumble - Frenzy
And lots more, but lets not forget the mother of all "Hey, it's the same mould but let's repaint it and sell it as a completely new character!" ideas...
Starscream - Thundercracker - Skywarp - Dirge - Ramjet - Thrust
Unless you can put your hand on your heart and say you just hate all those characters, methinks your argument sinks...
Hasbro - indeed ALL toy manufacturers - have to pay a lot of money for new moulds. Since year dot in the action figure universe, repaints/remoulds have been a cheap way of getting more product out to the marketplace and creating revenue to make new moulds. It happens with Star Wars (Kenner were tight enough to reuse a lot of their Ewok playsets in their Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves line!), happens with all the superhero lines (neon-pink Batman anyone?), the He-Man figures (Faker being a classic example) and it happens with Transformers.
Do you have to like it? Nah. Accept it? Well, it ain't going away...
Perhaps its hard to think of our childhood Transformers (and other toy lines from that era) as business/commercial products, but that's what they are. No Hasbro exec really sat around saying "Hmm. Starscream's a great character. But you know what we need? Five more jets with just as interesting personalities and abilities to join him so fans will love these new characters!"
More likely he said: "We've paid a lot to import these moulds from Takara, so reuse the good ones as much as you possibly can! Here, I'll help - pass the blue paint please."
Of course, if that's what they started life as, then they BECAME more. When I think of Inferno or Grapple, for example, I think of two different characters. That's kudos for the comic/cartoon writers, and my six year old imagination.
But if it was OK then, I see no reason it can't be OK now...
A-hem. Sorry, bit of a rant there and I think I went way off topic. Anyway...

Being in the UK, who knows if I'll ever get a chance at these Classic Constructicons. But they look good!

Since most everyone else here disrespects others' opinions, then I'll say you're an idiot for doing that.
I ran around all morning from Wal-Mart to Wal-Mart, and I can't find this d*** thing.
Passing on it was just stupid.

If anyone wants to sell me a mint in box, G1 Devastator for $29.74 (plus IL state tax), I'll shut up about this repaint, and won't give Hasbro my money.
Deal?
