Hasbro is their own worst friend. With friends like those who needs enemies? Just like that Astrotrain colors....who the frak makes those decisions anyways?

It's anecdotal evidence, but my local TRU has managed to get these in stock a few times, and both figures sell out very quickly. There is demand for Armada Megatron, just not as much as for G1 Megatron.

The scale isn't off for him. Armada Megatron was a BIG guy. Armada Starscream, however, should have been a Voyager instead of a mere Deluxe.Rated X wrote:However, I am very interested in armada megatron because Its a more obscure homage, even if the scale is off. But ill wait for this to show up in retail since I dont live in BFE.

A lot of people who either got back into Transformers as young adults, or who got into Transformers the first time as kids, did so via Armada/Energon/Cybertron. I think there's definite appeal for that figure, especially since the 'G1' deco is really IDW Megatron, which just may have less appeal than a tradition gun Megatron.
Plus, we'll probably see a case revision in the near future. It's happened before. I'm not too worried yet - patience has on average paid off for me.

The larger the figures, the fewer there are per case due to shipping requirements. Leaders are a case of 2, and that's not changing.

I would have agreed with you a couple months ago, but after seeing it in person I think it's a wonderful looking character.
I wish IDW would pull a "Gigatron" and put him in the current fiction.

You can arrange the left arm and fusion canon such that it looks like the canon is coming off his hip instead of his arm for Armada Megatron. Let him borrow CW Dragstrip's short sword and give him a Minicon, and he's ready to go as a "Classics" version of his Armada self.

Didn't IDW put a Gigatron in the recent Drift mini-series?

That's what he's talking about. "Pull a Gigatron" as in "Take a non-G1 Megatron and make it into a differently-named separate character"megatronus wrote:Optimizzy wrote:Kyleor wrote:Out of the two I'd rather get the G1 version. I misread it on my tiny phone screen as "put" a Gigatron. My mistake!

I really want to get the Armada Megatron, but I have feeling that due to the over populated amount in stores, most places will discount him after a few months.
My main issue with the Megatron figure in general is how he stands. He either leans forward where is towers over my other cons, or he leans a little backwards depending on how you place his legs.
I don't know if this is something that will be corrected on the Takara version or not though.

MTMTE Magnus is in my top five characters of the whole comic book series. He is my most anticipated figure, even more than Devastator or Defensor.Ironhidensh wrote:Changing the subject.... what a difference a month or so makes. When they first announced the CW Leader Ultra Magnus, I knew nothing of his IDW story line, or that he was just a set of armor and a little dude. So I thought this toy was an outrage. Now I'm all comic book current and UM just might be the non MP figure I'm most looking forward to. I'm skipping Megatron unless I can find him on sale, and I don't want any seekers in Jetfires mold. For my seekers (at least Thundercracker) I'm gonna pick up the iGear Con Raptor mold. Perfect comic book accuracy.

I think, based on pictures we've seen before, that they collapse further into the shoulder pads to look less awkward.

Sabrblade wrote:What with those shoulders?
Seems to be twofold:
The shoulders are pushed down to fit him in the box
AND
Hasbro stock photographers can't transform the toys well
EDIT: Okay I read his publicity blurb on BBTS and it's kind of funny
Courage is Stronger When Combined!
Who is he combining with, Minimus Ambus? I don't know if him sitting inside, having no visible impact on the outward appearance and function of the toy, qualifies as "combining."
The TRANSFORMERS Generations Leader class Ultra Magnus is rendered in incredible detail and with impressive conversions.
INCREDIBLE DETAIL!
IMPRESSIVE CONVERSIONS! (that are more or less the same as all Ultra Magnus toys of this style.)
This large, feature-packed LEADER scale action figure features a firing projectile, massive weaponry and working vehicle features.
Hype to English translation: "working vehicle features"=rolling wheels and a turning cab
Figure converts in 15 or more steps and includes a Collector Card.
15 or more? Why can't you just say how many steps it converts in?
I dunno, I just love marketing speak. Every little detail is the COOLEST EVER and you're a LOSER if you don't have this toy. It amuses me. I'm not saying he isn't an awesome toy, but the blurb kind of oversells him.

Purely design-wise, yes, it's accurate (more or less). But in the comics he has a blue waist and red thighs, rather than all that white.

They probably worded it this way because Hasbro wants people to think of Ultra Magnus and Minimus Ambus as two independent characters. They said one of the reasons why Ambus can't ride inside in truck mode is so it didn't look like Magnus was just a mech suit when in the comic that's exactly what he is.

He has a firing projectile? I thought all four were fake, which one fires?

I'm guessing it depends on if you include Ambus into the mix or not.

Blue waist and red thigh? Smart bet that's what the Tomy version will look like.I'll wait (gives my wallet a chance to recover from all the butt hurt it's been experiencing.

The last G1 Ultra Magnus toy that turned from car carrier into red, white, and blue robot (other than the Masterpiece) was the 6" Titanium figure from 2007. That figure was a floppy mess, and the Masterpiece is in a different league of price, intricacy, and aesthetics. There have been a few White Optimus Primes but this is the first time there has been a proper Classics-style Ultra Magnus.

(Yes, hammering your enemies with a hammer made from rockets. Because that's how Magnus deals with things)
