I've seen a pic of Terrorsaur, looks pretty good for an Airrazor retool
Pteranadon mode looks good to me, with the concession that like most TFs with jet/aerial modes it looks best from the top.
He looks decent in botmode, a bit sleek maybe, and the wings on the back are quite off model but will probably not be an issue when you have the figure in hand.
It looks like he has a faux chest piece made to look like the back of the Pteranadon so they didn't have to reorient the transformation scheme.
I'd say on the whole it's the Botmode that's compromised (and only barely) which was the right choice as Terrorsaur's onscreen transformation involved CGI magic...
Can't tell size from the images I've seen, but a pretty significant re-tool.
From what I can tell the major shared parts are the lower legs the forearms and potentially some of the internal skeleton/structure.
Head(s), wings, chest, waist, feet etc all look to have new sculpting
To be honest he's not really show or toy accurate, but you can tell the team at Hasbro have done their best within the retool budget allowed.
Pteranadon head (articulated opening mouth) on the back in botmode, and what looks like a faux chest that remains the chest in Pteranadon mode.
Wings are tip down (not upside down like the OG toy).

Obviously as Combiners and City-Bots are my favorite, there seems to be two distinct camps on Tidalwave. I fall into the CC line as well. It's in no way an attempt to diminish this character. I think he would make an amazing CC toy. But a lot of hardcore Armada fans really want a Titan, not sure why. The only time in fiction he was ever depicted at that size was in the PS2 game, and that was more of an anomaly. Also his very first darkened silhouette appearance in Armada definitely seemed like he was a gigantic bot, but turned out to be a "bigger-than-average" bot throughout Armada & Energon until reformatted into boat-guy (can't remember his name).

I said that too once I had Airazor in hand. I could literally see the Terrorsaur figure you could make from the design. Figured Terrorsaur would be a heavy retool, or at least, share engineering. Much like how 1rst ed TF-Prime Optimus and the first Studio Series Optimus share engineering. Though I didn't expect a faux chest.
I got utterly poo-poo'd for stating that opinion though.
That being said, still rumor until revealed, so could just be a made up story.

Oh wow...that is news to me. I bought it brand new. Still have it to this day, but never really liked it. I didn't have kids of my own when it came out, but I let several of my friends' kids play it who would have been the right demographic, and none of them really liked it, said it was "too hard". I seem to recall getting some cheat codes to finish the game, and never playing it again. Also, I'm not saying this is a better game, but I paid quite a bit to import the Japanese PS2 game. I know in terms of function it is not nearly as smooth, (and got terrible reviews) but I found it way more enjoyable, and finished it 4 times through on my own (2x as Autobots, and 2x as Decepticons) to unlock all the characters.
That is definitely a head-scratcher that something that many people today don't even know exists, could be the definitive version of a character. But then again, I like a lot of obscure things as well.

Yeah the PS2 game was my first exposure to Armada as a kid, and making it through that level only to find out the level itself was a Transformer was so awesome. It was REALLY weird to find out he was only larger than average and not colossal in the cartoon. If I were to ever want to get a tidal wave (which I'm dubious about, despite that experience I still don't care that much about the character) I would want it to be a titan for that reason. Although I'm probably not going to be getting a hypothetical Tidal Wave either way commanders and titans are outside of my transformers budget (commanders are more attainable, I got close to getting siege Jetfire but decided I wanted to use that $80 for other things).

Nope, it's because we were once asked by users from other forums not to bring about attention to them. If whoever wrote these wants to be properly credited, they can send me a private message cofirming as such and it will be done

Sometimes he's as big as a Titan, like in the game or IDW or that one Pirates story deal from FunPub. Sometimes he's just a "Jetfire" sized bot, like the majority of Armada.
It also doesn't help that he starts of Enormous originally in Armada then slowly shrinks to fit the cast, then becomes huge again in Energon, but not as huge as he originally was...
Dude does turn into a fleet of Ships, and that's pretty similar to Omega Supreme's whole deal, and he's a Titan class figure...

In all logic, Tidalwave would be somewhat in scale with Generations deluxes and voyager as a titan for his "biggest" appearances. He would still need his own mold and the Ark is the last titan for a loooooooooooog while.
Maybe a 500$ third party figure?

Fair do's. Seems it's purportedly Between-sites Leaker protection protocols but given the internet propensity for "I made this" syndrome, I think side-eyeing lack of at least user name crediting is still worth questioning.

Uh? Terrorsaurs got about 8 toys that can be done out of him so dunno why he'd be reduced to a retooling budget. Surely Airrazo has less variants possible (unless they are doing one as a robin in a batman collab).

So, anyone over the age of 28? (Just Kidding!) Seriously though...The fandom is so diverse, everyone has parts they like and don't like. Armada as a whole is not "my thing", but the toy line was pretty great, and there are a few individual characters I did enjoy. I would love to see the toyline get more of a resurgence in the near future, the 20th anniversary is next year. I also don't think we should let the Tidalwave Titan vs CC debate divide us. I would be happy for fans who wanted a Titan Tidalwave (thought I would not purchase one because it would be out of scale with my collection), but I'd definitely get a magnificent Purple & Grey CC Tidalwave, absolutely
Trying to keep this thread back on track, i am very much looking forward to all the reveals at tomorrows event via Hasbr Pulse. Mostly looking forward to Kingdom wave 3&4 toy renders that have nto yet been leaked.

And the Ark has been on Earthrise and Siege tons of times as a ship, and it don't look like that.

I'd really like to see Tidal Wave get a Commander Class or Titan Class figure. I really like the concept with the Titans Return version where it was a re-used Broadside. I could really go for a large Broadside triplechanger as well, since he was depicted as larger in the cartoon series. Not sure that Titan Class is appropriate for these guys, but Commander Class for sure!

Whereas Broadside, be it Commander or Titan Class. I think he just needs to be a bigger figure to make all three of his altmodes viable. In that vein, one day he might have a nice looking Flight Mode...

While I really didn't like Armada's cartoon, or pretty much all of the Autobot's toys, there is no denying that Armada re-vitalized the franchise and brought in a whole new generation of fans. It really needs some love imho, and Hasbro HAS to know it has a dedicated fan base, just like Beast Wars does. That being said, I absolutely LOVED Tidal Wave and Megatron, with their goofy sideways bending knees. (hay, at least they had some articulation) and would totally toss my money at a new Commander or Titan class Tidal wave too.

There's actually a whole discord for speedrunning it now. There are some pretty impressive glitch finds and times! I think it just depended on how the tone and difficulty suited people. I always loved challenging games as a kid, and I personally loved the music and "realism" of the game compared to the campy anime-ish feel of the show (which I also loved). I also had the strategy guide, which probably made the difficulty just right.
All I want is a new faithful Tidal Wave with some small decepticlones from the game. I honestly would just be thrilled with an upscale of the original with knees and head articulation tbh
Posted by AllNewSuperRobot on April 8th, 2021 @ 2:27pm CDT
Ironically, I think if there were G1 Skins available. It would likely have gained a bit more popularity among the wider fandom.
Tidal Wave based on the game would be the ideal. I think the models of every featured Armada character was better realised in the game than the show anyway.

I wish I knew.
It looks great riiiight up to the point of the open sides that aren't on any version of the Ark, including the Ark it's trying to be. If they can engineer Unicron and all of his curved panels to turn into a giant sphere, how could they not have taken any of that knowledge and closed the leg gaps? Even if it was two straight panels that closed that gap I would have accepted it. I just can't fathom what they were thinking. And I understand that some people are fine with it, and that some prefer the robot mode, but I won't be getting it. It stinks, but I'll stick with my Dark of the Moon and Titanium Arks.

Speaking of blue instead of black, I wish the Ark's bot mode replaced all the black parts, at least the upper arms and legs, hands, and face with light blue. The early art seemed to imply they were going that direction to match the Last Autobot, but this is unfortunate change.
It really falls short of expectations and some addons and Toy Hax labels are going to be a must. I'm hoping there's more to this figure than what IGN has said. I'm still buying it so maybe my opinion doesn't carry that much weight, but it falls way short of expectations.

A shame he's an exclusive, though. General retail figures are hard enough to acquire in many countries.
Edit: Also, as a fan of arachnids (except ticks, fuck ticks), Scorponok's scorpion mode is perfect! I'm ready to forgive his bricky torso and mopey face just for that. He can actually sting stuff in scorpion mode! Without extending the tail like a crane! I love it.

Same, loved the guy as a kid. I'm hopeful too, but his transformation was almost Dinobot levels of cheating, and basically Airrazor's opposite: Legs as arms, lower body as chest, upper body as back, wings magically disappear.

That's the general consensus with Golden being short for Golden Disc similar to the Galactic Odyssey line, but hasn't been confirmed. It wouldn't be the first time an extensive retool was made an Amazon exclusive as we saw both Earthrise Ironhide and Ratchet show up as Amazon exclusives.

I bet Hasbro has more reveals for tomorrow. I'm assuming this is going to be like Toy Fair for them. I'm assuming they'll recap the latest products that are hitting or just about to hit retail as well as the next 3 days worth of products (as they have done for many years at Toy Fair) to get us to when SDCC should be (which I'm assuming isn't happening, but I am assuming that the brand team will have something planned for around that time of the year regardless).
