"The book is all about the origins of the war, the Decepticons and my favorite Transformer of all - Megatron. The project came about because as long as this war has been going on, I had never seen a definitive origin that gave a reason for things to end up the way they are in regular continuity. There's talk of a war, and gladiatorial battles and some general pursuit over the control of energy, but it was never tied up in a way that could you why".
"There'll be a bunch of other Transformers in the story, all a little tweaked from what you know. It's fun to imagine who is doing what before the war. The focus is mostly on the classic characters, the ones there right from the beginning. Prowl. Soundwave. Starscream. A few of the lesser-seen characters. Ratbat. Blades. A bunch of cameos of people in civilian life. We have a Prime, but it's not Optimus - it's Sentinel Prime. There are a lot of ideas in this. I honestly wish I had more pages - you could do a lot "before the war" and continue it as the war is spreading across the planet".

He was in the UK comics, you can clearly see his face and chest there:

It sounds good, and the Blades gladiator thing was a thought that I had too.
So this is even pre-War Within. I love this kind of stuff...not our own history as much, but TF history is quite cool.

And again, why no girl bots, that's kinda weird?
So I guess, I should prepare myself for none of this:
Which, is kinda sad, I liked how naive Orion Pax was, and an ordinary Transformer, to an unforgotten hero of all time.
Back to Megatron, what I always wanted to know, who really built him, why he is the way he is, was he always a machine of war, and how was Starscream before he joined the Decepticons?
I can't wait, I hope they get in print soon, should be interesting.

Oh, you know how some people think. Some fans, especially the original G1-ners, got upset seeing girls showing up in their once 'sacred series'.
Or
The are the ones who'd go, "Girls?! EWWWWW, COOTIES!"
Here's a cute girl bot to look at. http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2413&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=
Hope ya like my own girlbot...or I should say girl :MAX:.

I'm looking forward to this. Some day I'd like to see a mini-series (preferably longer than the 4 parters IDW put out) thats set entirely just before the war, with the last page of the last issue being the very moment it all begins. Who knows? maybe this will turn out to be just that.

I love your drawings, they're so sweet. I have one of my own, I'm still detailing her, but that's another topic....
Really they got upset? Why, I thought guys would like a sexy bot heroine? Anyway, what I mean is, doesn't every species have a girl/boy race? I don't know...man. It's kinda strange to think of a high intelligent alien race with one sex? At least for me.
Question, was there a hint of a girl bot was there in the old comics? I know in the G1 and G2 cartoons, they hinted that women bots were there since first battle in the civil war. Like the episode of Alfa Trion back in time before he redesigned Optimus Prime, there was a green girl bot who spoke about plans beside him ready to fight.
I don't know, maybe because the female toys don't sell much (...cus they're just male repaints and ugly) or whatever. Still isn't it natural to have a male/female race?
I'm confused about that whole thing.
But back to Megatron, I hope they take there time introducing him before he became Leader. I'm so excited for this comic to come out already!

Only if survival of said race depends on male/female interaction for reproduction!
Seriously, who are we to say what's natural? There are plenty of asexual organisms in our world, and [I believe] we're only a small percentage of the universe.
Besides, why would a race of robots need males and females?
Furthermore, I was under the impression that life on Cybertron wasn't even created by the Cybertronians, but rather by the Matrix/Allspark/Vector Sigma.

Ok, I guess that explains it all. Still, I find it strange, but whatever, it would be nice to have two sexes, for many wonderful reasons. And you're right, what are we to say what's natural. I didn't know we are a small percent of reproducing organisms, I guess I'm going back to school...and I feel like an idiot.
Why would a race of robots need males and females? Beats me, they got bored with the same thing? Man, I was just trying to make sense on why have females in first place, for the same reason you just said; why would robots want to have two sexes anyway? Well, I'm glad they appeared in G1 cartoons, it was interesting. I'm happy it reproduce many romantic fanfics, or bigger questions.
I didn't mean to raise any bad feelings, or ill intentions.
Anyway, back to Megatron, I still hope each book with be a little longer in story than the spotlights. I'm so excited for it to come out.

Sorry to to drag the tangent further... I seem to be a bit of an oddity in that I'm primarily a G1 fanboy who actually likes having fembots in the mythos. And I don't just mean the ubiquitous fem-seekers either.
I've never had a problem rationalising it as 'feminine' personalities within the race - and those who are 'feminine' in that way tend to also have physical stylings that we recognise as 'feminine' - without needing to attach considerations of gender to the issue. I'm a die-hard opponent of the projection of biological familial relationships onto the Transformers concept - a particular preserve of Mary-Sue fanfics written by female fans, for some reason - as far as I'm concerned, giant robots don't have gender, don't reproduce sexually and don't have sex for fun either. But there's a world of difference between having two X chromosomes and being feminine.

Assumeing that the largest % of sentient species in that universe are 2-sexed. Which seems pretty reasonable for a Sci-fi/fantasy universe ,unless they go out of thier way to say otherwise. Both common orgin stories can explain why there are at least a few "female" type personality types and that they tend toward a "female" body type. Of course since most of the later stuff seems to have earth tied to cybertron's destony... maybe they are supposed to be simular to humans. (of course they are simular to humans because the concept was created by humans for children)
Quint built- I've seen mentioned that they had a trading empire. Maybe they built them like that for selling purposes. Or maybe they used to be more like humans and Unicron rebuilt them into thier current forms ,when he sent them out to hunt down survivors of his meals.
Primus created- The "god" made his children in a way that would allow them to interact with many races.
This is even the thought process behind making all TFs have a Translator system that takes time to learn a new language. They don't know english ,that's just what you hear.

Yes, there is a world of difference. You're talking about the difference between sex and gender. However, why are most of the feminine robots shaped like human females (in as far as the masculine robots are composed like human males)?
There's nothing confusing about having robots that look different. By extension, there's nothing confusing about having robots that have a male shape and a female shape. But then, why are the TF's largely restricted to those two shapes?

To be fair, a lot of the ones that don't fall into either category just look weird or bestial.

Fixed.
