While the internal parts appear to be all-new, it looks like the vehicle shell components are all reused from Crowbar, so he should look very similar to this (without the dreads hanging out of the back)
Thanks.

Neither of these are for me, but I know they've been heavily asked after by the fandom as a whole, so good to see they exist.

Same with the colour they used for the thighs, abdomen, winch, neck and face instead of grey or silver.
I've been worried about this since the reveal of Legacy Kickback (Specifically the shape of his thighs) and noticed it with some of the Kingdom figures, and more recently some SS86 figures, namely Perceptor and the voyager van mold.

While I get what you mean by being simple looking, it looks as I expected and what I assumed many wanted this release to look like.

I wonder about that. They seem to be going modular with all of the Junkions in Legacy this time around so I have my doubts about Detritus being a Hound repaint, I think he's more likely to be a retool of Scraphook. Maybe we'll get the repaint in Selects.

I...don't understand this line of thinking, this goes against every precedent set up until now. For the entirety of WFC, the modular characters skipped a late wave (which would be when Detritus hits) and they didn't do repaints/retools in the retail lineups (unless you count Slammer sharing literally 2 parts with Ironworks, which doesn't seem like it should count), so far we don't actually know that every Junkion will be modular because of that Voyager listing, and it would just be an inaccurate Detritus for the sake of including a gimmick he never had, which the design team hasn't been doing with G1 characters since WFC started (except for the Powerdashers because otherwise why would they even get made). Isn't it more logical to assume that Detritus is going to actually look like Detritus?Emerje wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:Slap a coat of browns on that Hound and we've presumably got our Legacy Detritus.

Another Siege figure I’m glad I skipped, & now my Henkei version will definitely remained sealed.
Even though I’m seeing hollow bits, it appears there have been some efforts made to make them smaller.

Hatchet deserved his own mold and to be at least a "voyager". This would have given him some extra transformation steps to make those panels disappear.

In Siege the Modular figures were all Titan partners, in Earthrise they were all Micromaster bases, and in Kingdom they were all fossils. Since they've already established our first Deluxe Junkion to be modular and the poster shows multiple modular Junkions I don't think it's unreasonable to think that's the play pattern they've established for all Junkions. Maybe he won't be a Scraphook retool, but I doubt he'll be a Hound repaint in Legacy.

While I would always prefer a new mold, I'm actually impressed at how much mileage they are getting out of the same Chevy Suburban vehicle panels. This is almost the polar opposite of most retools in that they are keeping the vehicle shell the same, but retooling the inner bot and transformation.

It's what is established for the 3 new character Junkions whose listings were/are literally just "Junkion 1/2/3", yes, but Detritus isn't a new character listed under a non-name, he's listed as the existing repaint Detritus and therefore I would think he can be reasonably expected to actually look like Detritus. And again, there's also that Voyager Junkion figure, which is a price point Hastak have yet to do modular figures at before, so we don't know for certain that every Legacy Junkion is gonna be Modular because that one could still turn out to be another SS86 Wreck-Gar retool or Animated Wreck-Gar as a Bulkhead retool or something.Emerje wrote:Since they've already established our first Deluxe Junkion to be modular and the poster shows multiple modular Junkions I don't think it's unreasonable to think that's the play pattern they've established for all Junkions.

I am not sure how I feel about Hatchet being a retool of Berserker. I am impressed they pulled that off, but disappointed that he's a retool, it doesn't seem to fit as well as I'd like.
As for Hound, something seems off about him. Glad for those who wanted him, but i am glad I have my Siege one, I'll stick to that one

Probably the fact that the part that has the star and Autobot symbol are typically over his shoulder, but it's definitely good enough for me.

Right, they're Titan partners so they got the Siege treatment. They maintained their pattern.

Listing Detritus just means they had a clearer idea of who the figure is supposed to be, it doesn't tell us anything about what the figure looks like. Nobody said it can't still be a Jeep.

It doesn't make sense to me for the new Hound retool to be a nobody in the main line while the intended use of the mold gets relegated to being an exclusive.
For the record, I want to be wrong about this.

...I misinterpreted what you were saying with this part, I took it too literally. We're on the same page here, yeah.Emerje wrote:Right, they're Titan partners so they got the Siege treatment. They maintained their pattern.
Oh, okay, we're kinda thinking the same thing. See, I thought the fact that Junkion 1/2/3 were all unnamed (until Scraphook changed last-minute) is because those ones are all gonna be the same in terms of being modular new character Junkions (specifically the 3 visible on the poster, I'm guessing) that they were still finalizing, which we seem to agree on and makes me think of when the Fossilizers first leaked. However, that to me makes Detritus being a named/existing character immediately separate from those 3, and therefore I'm expecting an accurate Detritus instead of a new modular take on the character, otherwise they would have called him Junkion 4/some other name instead. Honestly, I'm half-expecting them to market him as a Mercenary and explicitly not call him a Junkion so kids don't try to rip him apart like the other 3 (even though I would think the instructions and packaging would still make it clear that he doesn't come apart anyway).Emerje wrote:Listing Detritus just means they had a clearer idea of who the figure is supposed to be, it doesn't tell us anything about what the figure looks like. I've still got no real clue with the Voyager one though, just those potential theories I mentioned.
Okay I think there's a few factors here.Emerje wrote:It doesn't make sense to me for the new Hound retool to be a nobody in the main line while the intended use of the mold gets relegated to being an exclusive.

-First of all, you're assuming Hound is the only "intended use" of the mold, whereas I think the fact they've held off on making Detritus since Siege means he was always planned to come from this tooling of the mold alongside Hound, so they would arguably both be the "intended use"
-Second, Hound will still be coming out practically a year ahead of Detritus, so they're still doing the marketable guy first of the two of them, which is on-brand for Hasbro (see: Core Volcanicus obviously being molds intended for a different dino combiner)
-Third, Hasbro has been very consistent about NOT releasing Earth mode redos at mainline retail as the exact same characters that were previously at retail unless that character was Optimus/Megatron/Starscream. The Earth Datsun mold was released at retail as specifically Smokescreen, who was the only Datsun that had been a Selects release during Siege, and Soundwave, Thundercracker, Sideswipe, Red Alert, Mirage, Ironhide, Prowl, and Barricade were all exclusives in ER and Kingdom after having been retail releases during Siege. Hound being an exclusive only continues that trend.
-Fourth, there's no way to justify including Detritus in a Buzzworthy Bumblebee Studio Series wave if you were to switch who gets released where, even though Hound works under either release method by virtue of SS86
-Lastly, if we're going off of product codes, then Detritus comes out in Legacy Evolution Wave 4 alongside Strongarm & Bombshell (presumably 2 new molds), and a Tarantulas repack, which seems unusually new-mold heavy for a Deluxe Wave 4...unless you compare to Siege, which also had Mirage and Impactor (new molds), Barricade (repaint/slight retool), and a Sixgun repack, which then makes Detritus's role in that wave make sense. Could you have done Hound there instead? Assuming the Earth jeep tooling had already released once before and other above reasons were being ignored, then yes, but then people would have just complained about how long it took to get Earth Hound and him being in a potentially hard-to-find tail-end wave instead of complaining that he's an exclusive.

I only consider the primary use the "intended use", secondary uses are just a bonus, especially when they're just repaints. If it's a figure that builds in multiple toolings and both can share "generic" parts I'd say they're all intended uses, but it feels wrong calling Detritus the intended use of a design that existed nearly 20 years before him.
-Second, Hound will still be coming out practically a year ahead of Detritus, so they're still doing the marketable guy first of the two of them, which is on-brand for Hasbro (see: Core Volcanicus obviously being molds intended for a different dino combiner)
Well sure, but one is mass retail which will always feel like the more important slot to get.

I can't argue with this, but I will point out that this is a different line and a different design team (Warden was still in charge of Kingdom's design team even though he departed before it completed) so the same rules may not apply.
-Fourth, there's no way to justify including Detritus in a Buzzworthy Bumblebee Studio Series wave if you were to switch who gets released where, even though Hound works under either release method by virtue of SS86
Who said he'd have be in SS86? We've had single Legacy releases in Buzzworthy, somebody else would have just had to take his place in the SS86 portion (like Mirage who's already on the box).
It's hard to say what LE wave 4 is going to be without seeing the figures are getting a description. Strongarm could be a slight retool of Crankcase for all we know. Kingdom Deluxe waves 4 and 5 were said to originally be one wave which would have given us two new molds (Waspinator and Slammer), a heavy retool (Pipes) and a repaint/slight retool (Shadow Panther, but the alt head is already in the mold so it doesn't cost any more to produce than Cheetor), which doesn't sound that much different from Strongarm and Bombshell (new molds), Detritus (heavy retool) and Tarantulas (rerelease).
Fans have been complaining about Earth mode Hound taking too long since Earthrise, another year wouldn't kill them.

True, but we know Warden did stay long enough to at least do initial design work for Prime Arcee according to Mark's behind-the-scenes posts. Whether that would have been enough to impact Detritus and Hound we would have no way of knowing without more BTS (it's probably unlikely), but at the very least we know there was some overlap with the design teams into the initial plans for Legacy.Emerje wrote:I can't argue with this, but I will point out that this is a different line and a different design team (Warden was still in charge of Kingdom's design team even though he departed before it completed) so the same rules may not apply.
This is true, I only mentioned them directly swapping because of the initial confusion of why their positions were what they were. Who knows what they would have put in this wave if Hound wasn't in it...or if this wave would even exist if Hound wasn't in it.Emerje wrote:Who said he'd have be in SS86? I certainly hope not, only bot I could see working as a Crankcase retool would be Ironfist (or maybe a not-great UT Red Alert as a callback to Crankcase's past, but I think most would prefer a new mold for him, me included).Emerje wrote:Strongarm could be a slight retool of Crankcase for all we know.
I certainly agree with this, but then again I wasn't one of those fans waiting/complaining to begin with, so I'm probably biased.Emerje wrote:Fans have been complaining about Earth mode Hound taking too long since Earthrise, another year wouldn't kill them.

Something I'd like to see is RID2001 Mirage repainted from Amazon Leadfoot. The head isn't quite right, but it's close enough.
There's a lot of repaint potential in those Spy Changers, I'd take a whole 4 pack of them.

I agree it wouldn't be ideal, but they sorta share just enough that as the G1ified version it could work imo. I was just going with the trend of having a Bee in each box set and we already have Origin, Netflix, the original Buzzworthy one, and now Goldbug. Although, it could be a G2 version with a new name amd toy accurate head to make it different from Netflix and get around the agreement or whatever it is...
