Thanks to TF fan Quinton, we now have a first image and sighting of a Combiner Wars wave 1 toy (Dragstrip) in its new packaging. While the United States got the international version of the Combiner Wars wave 1 toys, meaning they came with a card instead of an English language comic, the wave 2 toys all came with comics. Hasbro had stated in an interview with Seibertron that the plan was to release the wave 1 toys again with the comics. Finally, one such product was found. Here is what Quinton told us:
I was at Walmart in Harlingen Tx and noticed that the Dragstrip that is coming out with the Stunticon wave also has comicbook with it. This is new since Dragstrip came in wave one without the comicbook.

How is that different from Skydive though? Nose drops to mid back, wings fold back... They look like the exact same kibble/jet-on-back transformations to me...
I'll admit Skydive is my favorite just for the colors I think. I'm not a fan of the way firefly's tail fin folds up... just kind of awkward and loose on mine, but the wings seem the same on both.
With Skydive, the wings are attached to his shoulders, and move higher in robot mode with the arms/chest. On Firefly, they don't even fold back very far.

Since today is "lets take everything literally day" Ill be 39 in October. Slingshot will be turning 31. How old is the Alpha Bravo comic ?

But really, we get it. You don't like Alpha Bravo. You've made your point clear across two threads. Please drop it and spare us your repetitive diatribe and so we can actually discuss other Combiner Wars stuff without being interrupted by your Alpha Bravo bashing. It's bordering on trolling.

Concerning AB, he might just turn out to be the most wanted collectible figure 20 years from now.

I did get one with loose joints, but I don't know how common that is.

with comic? That'd be one of the first sightings I've heard of.

I also wonder if Motormaster and Blackjack are delayed because they're fixing the clicking joints on Motormaster and the loose Blackjack.

Hell, they could throw in the G2 Megatron repaint and probably sell that out too.

It's a stretch, but at least it's a good template to work off of to correct history Big Brother-style so that Alpha Bravo has always existed.

I hope that's the case. They've been out in my area for a while now

No, so far Cyclonus and Optimus Prime are "extra torsos", meaning they have no particular members uniquely assigned to them unlike Superion and Menasor.

Umm... The top of the jet, yes, but the bottom kibble is a tough sell. I know that all jets suffer from this but some are better at tucking in the bottom kibble than others. Silverbolt was always the biggest offender for me because the shape under the jet wasn't even in tune with the plane. Generations Jetfire has all the kibble there too but at least from the sides the legs work along the jet making the undercarriage add some volume to it and make it seem like it belongs there. But not with Silverbolt, tt was all boxy and angular under a standard plane. But it was an homage to G1 (aka an easy way out) which I can get behind (to help me sleep at night). But with this guy, not really. As far as updates to G1, I find the Universe one better. Now thats a toy that knows how to handle kibble.

Additionally, Cyclonus's bio on the box says that he mind-controls other Transformers into combining with him, so he probably just hijacks whoever is around. Y'know, in whatever micro-continuity the bio takes place in.

Don't count on it. TakaraTomy seems to focus on the classic Combiners and the classic lineup only, with Superion, Menasor, and likely Guardian/Defensor, plus whatever classic teams appear next year.

While the Universe Version has an outstanding robot mode, I was always disappointed by the jet mode. The jet mode in that version hid the kibble well, but in the process, it lost all of the sleek lines that the G! toy and cartoon had.
I almost want to buy this guy, chop off all the kibble showing for his robot mode and just keep him as a jet on my shelf.

I'm glad it's not just me, I'm getting the feeling it's not a coincidence
In fact swap out cyclonus for hot spot, change blades for his white alternative alpha bravo and I'd say you got a close as possible idw overlord.
Can't wait to see it done, I think it would surprise a few people. Hopefully someone on here will flex their photshop skill on it soon

wonder what the 3rd party can do with this/who can this be?
Def could have made a more convincing overlord.

(is the joke that they are doing that now? I actually feel this community has been rather kind to this guy and I am the cranky old truck this time around)

Also wish we had more limb variety. "Can combine with any bot" (using Unicronian sorcery? Galvy's insanity is that contagious?) implies more than just preexisting combiners...
There isn't a way to connect the upcoming Rodimus, is there?
Posted by Cobotron on April 6th, 2015 @ 4:40pm CDT
Everybody is right though, that combiner head DOES look like IDW Overlord. Cool! Just 'cause Hasbro named him Galvatronus doesn't mean he can't be somebody else.
I'm gonna have the awesome old Classics Cyclonus AND this one. Because I can.
I'm just digging the whole package.
I like that CW has delivered on the classics, and I like that they're scrambling it up with new and outa-left-field characters.
@WJ88 - It's OK man, you don't have to like everything.
Posted by Sabrblade on April 6th, 2015 @ 4:49pm CDT
Prime and Menasor are worse by this toy's virtue of being made from the Silverbolt mold, whose Superion torso mode's excellent proportions have carried over into this figure's Galvatronus torso mode.Mr_Autobot411 wrote:as a single bot, he looks decent

Nah, it's a play on the old "Trukk, not munky!" complaint. If this toy had been made into Overlord, then it would have to be colored blue, which could potentially upset those who favor a purple Cyclonus.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:And people would complain that Cyclonus is too blue, or "Perpul, not bloo!"william-james88 wrote:philswitch engage wrote:If he was done as overlord, I wonder how many people would be posting that they would have rather seen him as galvatron.

I'm treating the CW stuff a lot like PCC figures.
They are fun, and I'm not taking them too seriously.
I'll prolly get it.

Yeah I agree, Not feeling him like I wanted to..
