Yeah, SG Perceptor was originally a straight re-use of Magnificus. Same idea with the number of Diaclone characters that are re-used as Shattered Glass Characters.

This does raise some questions though, since it means there are more than 5 Shattered Glass characters releasing in the near future. Is Hasbro doing away with that more encapsulated concept?

Right, but my point was that Hasbro has gone for a "5 releases per wave" model for Shattered Glass. Having this figure be specifically marketed as "Shattered Glass" and not some other line, like with Lift-Ticket, Burn Out, Breaker, etc. means that the 5 release concept is straight out the window and we can be hopeful for more Shattered Glass releases in a smaller time frame.

They're likely calling it SG Perceptor for lack of anything better to call it. The site is clearly selling figures stolen from the factory since none of them come in packaging and they were selling Velocitron wave 2 Crasher and a bunch of figures shown on the recent live stream. Since neither SG Perceptor no Magnificus have been announced I'm sure they're just guessing.

...That's entirely believable. They have Studio Series Perceptor and probably saw a "Black repaint" and said "Shattered Glass!" Probably safe to assume it will actually be sold as Magnificus then. I assume the new head is a guarantee, but is it possible that he will come with a Micro-Man equivalent, just for the fun of it?

Ooh, I did say the only way they'd get me to buy the new Perceptor mold was as Magnificus, so yes please. Most of this year's Selects figures have been a miss for me, this feels like it would be a return to form (assuming this will be a Selects figure, which feels right but who knows).

Did any of you try ordering the box-less SG Perceptor from that listing we posted the other day? Well a fan in Asia did and did not like their product, giving it 2 stars. They found some parts too loose and others too tight and added a video and images to their review. This gives us our first look at the figure which looks exactly as we all imagined it would, as it is the 3rd time we are getting this kind of redeco for Perceptor, and he has a new more toy accurate headsculpt. Something interesting, the review states that the name is wrong and that this is indeed magnificus and not SG Perceptor. Meaning that this toy is not indicative of a third set of SG toys coming from Hasbro.

Fast delivery, good packaging. But the product has too many scratches, the joints are too loose. The latch is closed on the shoulder, it 's very strong even though i pressed it very strongly. The wrong product name is ma maficus' kntficus', not the product of SG.

Interesting, the purple con symbol would confirm it as Magnificus, question would be what line if not SG. A return to Selects perhaps?

Yeah, even without the name product name elaboration, the Purple Decepticon emblem on the chest flat-out clarifies that this is Magnificus. Which is good, since Magnificus was first and deserves the toy slot over SG Perceptor. Plus, a simple Purple Autobot sticker immediately converts the figure to SG Perceptor!

Third redeco? Do you mean counting the original E Hobby release? The only other one I remember is the Generations version. Which enjoyed but it will be nice to have a Mag with better proportions.

I never did find the Perceptor in stores, so if this is legit I may just hold off so he is slightly different than the TR Percy I have

yeah, so that makes 3. However, I realize there is aslso a ReAction figure, so this would be the 4th time we get these colours as a perceptor redeco.

It's nice that they seem to be putting out more e-Hobby original characters. Maybe we'll see the likes of Overcharge, Detritus, and even "Classic" colored Sunstorm (With those wonderful shades of Yellow and Cream) in the near future.

There's just no honour amongst the people and staff responsible for the sale.

I really wish this character was released in the TR mold, as this would give us two different characters to enjoy two molds of the same overall design, plus the Headmaster could be Ga'mede:

The leaked item price was extremely high (40usd) x2 Perceptor's price as the seller claimed it was in like new condition, totally not worth it.

We saw that you could order a package-less Magnificus toy and we saw that people were already receiving it, like fellow Seibertronian Tonyteo. So it's a matter of time until we get more images or a video review. Well today, we have images, from a Korean website, of Magnificus in 3 modes: robot mode, microscope mode and mobile laboratory mode. This toy cannot do the actual tank mode which the original Microchange toy could do.

If anyone is curious about the Magnificus name, it comes from his backstory being similar to Maximus' from Gladiator. And here is Tonyteo's quick review of the toy he got:

Thank Tony. Even though the toy sucks, could you take more photos of it, at various angles, and showing the new face well along with the same gun? I'm sure fans would appreciate that.

It is what it is. It's cool they're doing it, but it's not something I was hungry for.

One of the practices during FunPub's run of Shattered Glass is repurposing lesser known figures from regular lines as SG characters, ignoring whatever faction symbol or its color is. Magnificus as SG Perceptor is one of those.

That's not a Shattered Glass version. He's just a Decepticon. SG Perceptor is the same color with an Autobot logo and a face. And I agree, it doesn't suck. The guy got a figure that may or may not even be released and he ONLY paid double a SS86 version.

SG Perceptor actually has the SAME head as Magnificus! The original FunPub version anyway.



The only difference between SG Perceptor and Magnificus was Purple Autobot insignias instead of Decepticon.

I am confused about the confusions over this guy being a Decepticon. The only official release (as a transformers) of the black perceptor mold I remember was the old e-hobby, which was a decepticon. homoging the microman original, by packing him with a new microman, Gameed I think? looked like he was dressed as Cobra Commander but without the mask. I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me.

I don't even think that people were hoping for it, I think it's just the fact that the figure's existence leaked as "SG Perceptor" and that it's still in the thread name that's causing confusion.

Thanks for the info. To be honest, compared to many of the recent gaffes in the Siege/Legacy lines (Blitzwing, Astrotrain, cr@pple damage paint, Ironhide/Ratchet's feet/vehicle rear doors, etc), I wouldn't say it's that noticable?

I already have the e-Hobby Generations release but I'm honestly keen about picking this one up, might just repurpose the e-Hobby one as his "Gladiator version" since it's more bulky and more intimidating-looking than this one, heh.

The tank mode is wrong and it's very noticeable because what we have is not a tank, it's the mobile telescope (another one of the modes). So it can only recreate 3 of the microchange modes, not all four. And the tank mode was the main mold that interacted with the microchange figures.

I feel like people cared more about if the Perceptor mold could transform into the microscope and the dweeb more than if he could turn into a tank - not saying I'm against the idea of him being a triple changer but the final result still looks about as "You tried" as the original G1 tank mode anyway.

I agree. I'm more miffed that Ga'mede wasnt included. If I get this, I might repaint a spare Targetmaster as him and add more noticeable silvery metallic paint to his bits that would have them, instead of the possible "matte" styled effect Perceptor had.

This mold is 100% accurate for G1 animation Perceptor, but at the expense of a good tank mode.

I Would still be likely to get this, as I still think it looks great, but I also hope it comes with Purple Targetmaster, or. Maybe even a recolored Daniel Powersuit?

I guess we'll figure it out when the official reveal happens. I'll admit I'm pretty curious to see what the real deal will be!

We'll see, I'm quite curious for the full reveal now. As for the tank mode, it doesn't require much. The knobs on the arms just have to be removeable like the G1 toy for the the tank base to be flush against the ground. Of course, wheels would help sell it even more and I don't think they would have been too obtrusive to remove from the G1 accuracy. Would have increased the budget though, for sure.
