Nah, they mean G1... because appearently mirroring the G1 trailer stripe on each wing qualifies as a G1 homage... (The movie trailer was flat Silver with a blue refrigitater thingie)

The first movie's toys did exceptionally well. A cash grab chrome redeco was a no brainer. Most stores couldn't keep them in stock, so they were able to restock Cybertron and Classics and sell those as well. We were riding high on a TF kick at that point, so almost everything in sight, sold.
Then, along came ROTF and sales were good, but they started to really over do it at Hasbro.
And by the time DOTM came along, sales were way down and the economy went down the crapper, so...no Leader Class Optimus, no special editions, nada.
Heck, they were lucky to get what toys were out there, out the door. I'm surprised we got as many DOTM figures as we did. The Wreckers suffered the worst. (Thank you TakaraTomy for that last minute save!)
I'm honestly surprised Amazon bit on this one and that Hasbro even commissioned a run for it.
