As much as I appreciate the reference to the old toy, it's definitely ugly, and ultimately pointless. IMHO, at least.

It might be ugly but it has already grown on me and my bizarre crave for G2 toys. Unfortunately the Alt mode is still awful so I'm not likely to ever pick it up it at a price I can justify for in my eyes a non transforming transformer :/

With that Megatron, this old Optimus now finally has a counterpart to face:

What's wrong with the mold? Looks pretty good for a tank megs.

I get what he's saying. The alt mode looks like Megatron squatted, raised his arms in the air, and then fell over face first. With some weapons parts forming, of course. I bought the figure for the robot mode, just like Prime.

I have some hope that this SELECTS thing will be Hasbro's answer to the collector's club. While I will certainly miss the fiction, comics, convention, etc... I'm glad they are finding a way to crank out some real oddball figures and decos clearly aimed at older, long-standing fans.

For Hasbro's primary market — and for the main demographic of kids — I know they have to saturate with Bumblebee and Optimus and the most popular characters and decos. That doesn't leave much room for obscure characters and decos, G2 homage, Marvel and japanese characters, etc. (Or sometimes even finishing out the seeker trio. Ouch.)

Even if this Megatron doesn't exactly float your boat, it should sound an alarm that this is Hasbro's project for adults. I hope some people on the line can chip in to get the figure and make Selects a success so we can continue to get FAN-centric, ADULT-based figures.

Speak with your wallets. ;)

Yes and yes, I love what Hasbro is doing with the Selects line and by extension what Pulse if providing for collectors.

I guess that's bad that I really like his tank mode...

Ehh, I like Animated Shockwave's tank mode too, so...

The deco of Camo Meg is giving me a... strange thought process. I mean, I like the deco, but I wonder if I like it more than the Siege version :-?

Oh yeah, it does work a lot like Armada Megs, doesn't it? Don't get any ideas, Hasbro! The last time they head swapped a G1 Megatron to make an Armada one, the result was hideous. It's the only Generations toy I don't have on the shelf because I hate it so much.

I really hate reading stuff where the word adult is thrown around willy nilly. So are you saying that these toys can only be for people above 21?

What would make the toys so adult anyway? It's not like this megs converts into a dildo.

I can't get over the tiny head on either, especially when the original mode had a relatively large head. Make the whole thing look like a poorly conceived custom.

I really dont like tanks with out rotating turrets and other toys that have used a similar tank transformation (animated shockwave and Armada Megs) had a lot of other things going for them (multiple modes, rotating turrets, combining etc whilst being great tanks). I know real life tanks exist that dont have rotating turrets but for a toy tank/former its a must for me (since nmost of the 80's tank/robots had a rotating turret, a modern toy has no excuse to not have one) and the alt mode just looks very part here, part there rather than it's a tank look to me.

This toy's turret rotates a full 360 (some fiddling may be required due to clearance issues). The only thing it can't do is raise or lower the cannon.

william-james88 – It's not that the TOY is made for adults, it's that the IDEA is geared for adults. ie. I lived through G2, went to Botcon, knew about this unreleased toy... so I'm excited about it.

Point is — just like the Botcon sets and collector's club toys — the concepts for the toys are planned to throw a bone to long standing fans. (ie. adults)

Yes, children could conceivably still have fun playing with them, but won't understand the reason why they are cool.

I took my son to Botcon 2016. While we were in line, some dad with way too much disposable income bought an extra box set for his kids to play with. My son saw that and started begging me to buy him one too. I love him, but there is no way in hell I'm buying him a $400 set of toys so he can smash them together and lose the pieces!

I think this is definitely one of those figures that really only looks good in hand. I thought the official images looked pretty rough but I still ordered one because I'm far too impulsive. He showed up today though and I have to say I like him a lot more than I thought I was going to. The new head sculpt is great and makes me wish they used that one for the regular retail release. Still think the midsection is a bit too white but overall I like him a lot.

I think that is a terrible way of looking at things. You should never take kids out of the equation. Hasbro has been brilliant in making toys that can attract both.

It's an awesome tank, in cool camo colors, that turns into a f'ing robot with a giant sword and cannon, that's all you need to know to make it awesome :michaelbay:

Anything beyond that are simply attributes we attach to this figure because of nostalgia >:oP

Or the reason for the deco or its heritage is seemingly more important to some than how good (or not) it looks. BotCon 2011 Thundercracker is the poster child for that

Unlike most collectible Transformers that ARE aimed directly at adults, Selects are given regular retail prices and several online avenues to buy them from making them perfectly accessible to anyone that can buy online. If this is the new "club" then Hasbro's doing it right.

I got mine today, and while the tank mode isn't fantastic, I really like the figure overall. I'm pleased that there is indeed a G2 Decepticon logo. I'm very happy to add this to my modern G2 collection.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what more they do with the selects line. I think it's a great way of putting out alternate decos or more obscure figures at retail prices. I've got Richochet/Stepper preordered, and I'd love to see more G2 figures come through (maybe this is how we can get G2 Protectobots?).

I agree that this line has the potential to be fantastic, and it looks to be a great successor to the Club. I can actually afford to get these fun repaints and exclusives!

Looking forward to Ricochet and red Swoop too, then I can complete the new Magnaboss and then I'll just need Greenlight so she can go on Elita Inf1nite and Jazz, Ricochet, Sunstreaker, and Prowl can combine with Inferno!

By the way, just to show off some G2 Tankatrons:

I think the photo just looks weird. Cell phones have weird apertures that sometimes have unintended side effects.

TR Megatron is about half a Titanmaster taller than Siege.

I was waiting for someone to finally put one of the cannons up on Megatron's shoulder. How did it take so long for pictures of this to surface? It so easy to do. The 5mm peg hole is right there on the back kibble.

You know, I thought RTS Prime would look too small compared to Megatron, but I find them great together.

Also, am really loving the cannon configuration on Megatron, looks great ;)^
