HASBRO DELIVERS THE HOTTEST SPECIAL EDITION TOYS AT SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON, FEATURING TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOE, MY LITTLE PONY AND MORE
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (June 26, 2012) —In what has become a highly anticipated annual tradition, Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) is coming to Comic-Con International in San Diego, California, with an array of special edition action figures and toys that are set to be some of the hottest items available at the show. This year, the special edition figures are drawn from the lore of some of Hasbro’s most popular brands, as well as eagerly anticipated movies, animated series and video games.
The special edition items will be available at the HasbroToyShop booth (#3329) at Comic-Con International starting on Preview Night, July 11th (while supplies last), as well as in very limited quantities after the show at HasbroToyShop.com. Highlights of the range of special edition toys include a one-of-a-kind chance to own JAR JAR BINKS from the STAR WARS films encased in Carbonite, a huge TRANSFORMERS DECEPTICON ‘Combiner’ figure based on the hotly anticipated video game TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON, a fan-favorite Pony character from the hit Hasbro Studios produced TV series My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and even a massive vehicle from MARVEL’s THE AVENGERS franchise!
“The Hasbro brand and design teams greatly enjoy conceptualizing and developing the highly sought after special edition figures for Comic-Con year over year,” said John Frascotti, chief marketing officer, Hasbro. “Each Hasbro item features a fan favorite character or other nod to the most passionate fan bases of our brands and product lines that don’t exist in the more widely available main line. We have a lot of fun developing these toys and are thrilled to be able to provide fans unique expressions of their favorite pop-culture properties.”

G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Jem and the Holograms were all Sunbow cartoons. Some shared voice actors and company staff. Shared music. There's even one character that graces all 3 cartoon series ... Hector Ramirez, a news reporter in all 3 series: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Hector_Ramirez_(G1)
Some of the Jem characters were used as crowd fillers in Transformers "B.O.T."

Heck, there's a poster of Jem that even makes a surprise appearance in Masterforce!

Blast from the past. I think this is the first new Jem product, aside from the DVDs, in over two decades.

Loving the interesting new direction this Transformers fansite is taking with front page news about Jem...!!
Maybe Michael Bay should include her and the Holograms in the new movie!
Imagine the Human Alliance figure they could throw up with that one!?

Also, I find it funny just how careful they are to not use Derpy's name in that press release. I guess after Derpygate they just decided to not ever use her name again.

Yeah but I am not going to give my 8 year old a $150 doll to play with.. I see what she does with the dolls she has already. My wife or older daughter could appreciate it though.

Not sure if you saw a little film called The Avengers. It wasn't wildly successful or promoted much, so I'd understand. In it, there's a whole team of...wait for it...superheroes, right? And 2 of them can fly. Okay, a couple of them can fly planes, but no-one ever gets tired flapping their arms whilst flying a plane in films.

And I'm sorry but why has this been front paged? Seibertron said he wanted the site to get back to focusing on official Transformers products, which is fair enough. But how do official JEM and Avengers products fall into that catagory? Rather double standards don't you think? Or is this actually a Hasbro fansite?

I'm guessing he thought that those of us who have interest in the other SDCC stuff would appreciate it. I don't happen to be one of those people, but if I were, I'd certainly appreciate the gesture. But that's just my take, I wouldn't worry about it so much.

Well the Jem universe and the Transfomers universe are already crossed over. http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Jem
It's at least as Transformers related as Marvel Crossovers or Mosaics, let alone 3rd party stuff. It's not like every single Jem release (if there is more than this one) would be covered here, but this is something of a special occasion.

I would never have known Jem had a link to transformers. It is interesting to know and I do like oddball G1 triva. But front paging it this month was kind of bad timing.

I'll be going the HTS route and hopefully Hasbro will create as many of these as they did the FE Deluxe SDCC Prime's from last year (still in stock on HTS for $19.99).
I still can't believe people are actually paying $200 (that's $40 EACH for each of the deluxes that make up Bruticus). I can get the FP Bruticus add-on set for that and it's way more worth it.

Could be that they're just doing that as a backup and if/when they get a confirmed order placed with HTS they'll cancel.

I am going to try my luck at getting him on HTS.com as well. I also hope that Hasbro doesn't short these. If they are paying attention at all to preorders of this set and Amazons, and the regular retail release, they should know that they need to have a good supply ready for the wave of orders that's going to hit their servers when they come up for sale.
