Limbs don't appear to be important. Both arms are the same vague jet and the legs both appear to be Dragstrip.

To be fair, there aren't that many repaints. Most stuff's been remolded as well as repainted. And it was clear this was going to be a recolor from the start.

Yay, more whining, exactly what this forum needs.
Repaints have been a big part of Transformers since Day One. If you don't like them, find a new hobby.

The comics are only written to promote the toys. They can re-write the fiction to accomodate the toys, just as they have since the first TF comics were written to promote a new line of toys consisting of a bunch of unrelated toys from different lines.

I don't get these kinds of complaints. Over in the Protectobot thread, people come up with ideas for who Hot Spot could be redecoed into, and which limbs could be redecoed into which characters said Hot Spot redecos could combine with, and people are loving those ideas.TimothyR wrote:yay,, more repaints.. exactly what this line needs.
Yet, in this thread, an actual official combiner redeco is forthcoming, and the exact opposite reaction is given?
This fandom, I swear.

I hope that was sincere...if it was, I agree.
If not...
The more repaints = the more combinations.
The more combinations = the more play value for kids.
More play value for kids = the more they want it = more sales.
For customizers it doesn't matter, they'll just paint or mod parts.

You think children are buying these? At $17 a limb?
Last I checked children do not have jobs and parents generally do not shell out $125 a pop for combiners. Especially four in six months.

Speculating all Hasbro is going to do is put everything in a gift set. Maybe give all of the toys a gloss shiny finish.
Thinking, Hasbro is probably going to recolor a few CW Aerialbots as Decepticon seekers. Then use a few Stunticons in different characters colors.
Can only assume the Galvatronus Nemesis characters is the one that fights the CW Optimus and his mixed CW limbs.

Think Hasbro is well aware of some fans that will try their hardest to vote over One Thousand times in these Voting polls. Hasbro will not allow a few fans who vote Thousands of times to override fans who votes Once with these polls.
In the end, don't think any of these fan submitted votes get counted or acknowledged. Think Hasbro picks the winner well in advance.

To be fair, for the money they are charging us for this stuff Hasbro has no real reason why they cannot provide a new mold for each figure other than the fact that they want to maximize their profits for their shareholders. It is the "old" saying, run your business by creating a product for the least amount of money and charge the most you can. The problem is that you eventually cross the line with quality. And the way some of this stuff is made anymore is kinda pathetic. I really like the detail they can get with laser cut molds, but everything else has gone to hell. I mean, you have unpainted parts on some of these figures, which is inexcusable for $16 a pop. A lot of the molds in G1 were original, or at least reduxed from Micromaster stuff, so really there is no reason why they do this other than to get at much money out of you as possible while spending the least amount to do so. The movie money created a monster with Hasbro, and now their investors expect the same dividends every single year. And this is why we get the price increases we get, especially in non-movie years.

They get money by you loading that app on your phone by selling your data. Whether they actually count these votes is speculation, but it would not surprise me if it just a gimmick. In reality, picking one from three or four preset attributes is not really a good voting process. In my OP, they should have skipped this nonsense and just give us Bruticus or one of the season three G1 combiners, like Computron.

I have four children and I take them to TRU once a month. I let them get something up to $15-20. None of my children have ever chosen a deluxe Generations Transformer, let alone something like this where they have to commit every single allowance to getting al five of a combiner. As a matter of fact only one of my sons ever picks Transformers, and that is usually a one step. Furthermore, if given a choice, would a 10 year old boy choose one combiner limb or two TMNT figures? One combiner limb or two Mario figures? One combiner limb or two Minecraft figures? One combiner limb, or four Lego Mixels? One combiner limb or five Disney Cars Diecasts? Hell, one combiner limb or one deluxe RID figure that is actually in a cartoon they watch?

So your kids have varied interests. That's cool. When I was a kid my interests were very linear. It was all about Transformers, and other toys were there but few and far between. I was into TMNT really hard, but that took place pretty much when TF's were on hiatus anyways.shockblast2 wrote:Generally, parents with jobs have much more important things to spend their money on than toys for their children. And random was how it went. I had two complete Scramble City combiners, but neither was a complete team. It was a total mix of sub-teams and factions and I didn't care at all. That's what was one of the funnest things about the concept, and I bet there's kids out there who will have the same fun.

Given the alternative nothing or something. I'd take something in the form of repurposed CW toys. If this is the only way to get all of the G1 Combiners, Then i'll take it.
Most of these CW repaints are extensive resculpts with newer parts. Most parents and kids who are the main targeted consumer for this. Won't be able to notice some are repurposed toys.
No, a lot of the Original G1 toys were repaints and retools.
The purpose of repaints and retools is to appeal to kids different toy buying reactions to colors or shapes that they like or hate more.
HasTak does not create repaints to be cruel to the fans who force themselves to buy everything.
Think, The Transformers toys prices increases are due to the rising cost of oil. not to make the stock holders or investors more rich.
DOTM and AOE toy sales were not as great as the 2007 Transformers movie and ROTF toy lines.
Transformers toys due to their complexity are the most complicated, expensive toys to create for kids. They take a long time to create. Repaints and retools are needed to help relieve the cost of making the initial toys.

Those original G1 combiners toys were great sellers for HasTak Three decades ago.
One of the many reasons Why HasTak decided to create the Combiners wars toys. Was due to how great the sales were for the FOC Combaticons and all of their repurposed toys.
Looking at the current Combiners Wars toy sales. They appear to be selling great for HasTak. As stores and online sites keep selling out of the toys.
The fact that fans keep seeing Rid2015 toys heavily stocked in stores. And have hard times finding any Combiners Wars toys in stores. Should be a indication that these CW toys are in demand and selling out everywhere.

Online sites are selling out because the brick and mortar stores are barely carrying the product. You also have a lot of fanboys that want the very limited stock they do have. HTS and BBTS cannot nor will they ever hold the volume that the big box stores can.
As far as my local big box stores they are shelf warming wave one right now. Why? Because online retailers have had them for months.
Looking at combiner wars sales? You don't know what they have sold, unless you work in the accounting dept at Hasbro. This information is closely guarded until they release their earnings statements, so you are pulling your OPINION based on sales on online retailers. Which is highly inaccurate, because you have no clue how many unites they had in stock before they sold out.
Total sales is also not a good indicator of a lines success. Units sold is way more important. Let alone the cost of goods sold.
The RID are heavily stocked in stores because the big box stores want a toy driven by a cartoon. It is a fact that this boosts sales. Generations has nothing driving it save the comics. And the fanboys are keeping that line alive.....for now. I can guarantee you that they have sold way more RID figures than Combiner Wars. And they will continue to do so.

I am an accountant for a major plastic injection manufacturer in the US and I can tell you first hand that resin is NOT the driving force for these price increases. Resin was higher five years ago than it is today.
Lol...Hasbro is in business in GENERAL to make investors and stock holders more rich. Just who do you think is holding most of the stock?? Ever worked for a company with stock options for upper management?
You think this is the most expensive toy to produce? Do you know anything about Chinese manufacturing and the cost of doing business over there? $5 a unit from start to finish TOPS. The rest is profit. Look at Hasbro's financials. They are selling less units today than they did five years ago. Why did they make good profits last year? The movie and price increases.
No movie this year, and we are hit with a $2 price increase. To make up for others who jumped ship due to quality and cost.

The odds are very high that these will be retools. Not that this is a turnoff for me or anything, as long as they mix it up and use some decepticon molds as autobots and vice versa.

That's a load bull Hasbro might have done questionable things in the past but I'm pretty sure that Hasbro is not stupid enough to pull a move like that.
Where's your proof it's rigged anyways?
We get a choice to vote for the choices/options that Hasbro gave us to make a new figure.

Going to have to agree with Burn here.
Think this is all just a fun activity. For fans to have fun and make them feel they are special and contributing to the brand.
It is not hard to rig votes or pretend to count them. especially when no government or state agency is assigned to count them or monitor it.
Don't think Hasbro will ever put the voting in fans hands. When they know their are some fans out their that abuse the voting system. By over voting hundreds or Thousands of times. In desperate attempts to get what they want and override other fans votes.
Think the reason why this latest voting polls was limited to just downloadable apps. Think it was due to Hasbro knowing about certain fans abusing the voting system by over voting hundreds or thousands of times.

On the whole, I'm just going to call it a duck and be done with it, the simplest solution is often the right one. That being fans voted.
