As the small instruction images showed us before, Shockwave does indeed has a fake robot head for his alt mode. It is unpainted. This is similar to the Fall of Cybertron Shockwave who also had a fake head in cybertrotian spaceship mode (though less protruding than this). As you can tell, the transformation is very simple, though more involved than some previous toys, especially for the head switch. We see a shot of Sideswipe's back and images of the two posing against one another. The photographer, SurgeOpressor (from the TFW2005 boards) does a really good job using the limited articulation to its fullest, making good use of the swivel at the "knee" along with Sideswipe's transformation joint at the knee to make a dynamic pose.
As said earlier, these toys are available at Walgreens in the US, for $17.99, and here are the UPC codes to help you find them:
Shockwave UPC 63050964914
Sideswipe UPC 63050964913

I'm with you on that one. A bummer that the Cyber Battalion line never came out in Canada. I want that Shockwave, but I'm not paying the full price of a leader class figure to get it.

Not really possible I'm afraid, the wings that actually fold are quite short and they fold at the edge of the back, meaning they are further apart than you would think.

There are also no Walmarts in New York City-limits, so I'm doubly confused.

Haven't seen either figure on eBay. Actually, I just looked and there's a couple listings for it.

Oops, I meant WALGREENS. I also learned that Duane Reade is part of Walgreens, which explains why they had the same exact TR wave as Walgreens.

Yup - Walgreens bought Duane Reade a couple years ago.

The wings are hinged only in the middle, so it requires some customization.

We also found a pictorial review from Robots78, who posted it on TFW2005's boards, and which you can read below:
Robots78 wrote:I found Cyber Battalion Shockwave tonight at Walgreens and figured I'd post some pics and impressions.
Overall, I like this figure. It has serious problems, but the bot mode has such good presence that I can overlook them.
Let's start with the alt mode. It's a sad "spaceship" where the legs are pressed together to form something reminiscent of Shockwave's classic laser gun barrel, while the chest folds down, the head tucks away and the arms just sort of hang out.
There is a little landing skid under the front that I neglected to fold out, which would lift the front end up a bit.
As we switch modes here, I wanted to point out that the instructions are printed on the back of the box instead of being on a separate piece of paper, and they're MUCH easier to read than the gray-on-gray diagrams we get with Generations figures.
The robot mode is much more successful. This is a great rendition of G1 Shockwave. The sculpt is very faithful to the original, the proportions are nice, and the colors are perfect. The few tampos used are high quality, especially his Decepticon symbol, however the paint on the cyclops eye on my copy was a bit messed up.
Yes, the back of his lower legs are super-hollow, but that and the inside of his forearms are really the only hollow parts, which isn't too bad. His lack of a meaningful alt mode helps him have almost no backpack or other kibble.
Articulation is obviously where these Cyber Battalion figures really come up short, and Shockwave is no exception. The knees do not bend. It sucks, but since in the cartoon Shockwave mainly just stood around around saying "Yes, Lord Megatron", I can deal with it. His knees do swivel. His arms cannot reach back because they run into his backpack wings. But there's enough here to work with to get him into some decent standing poses.
The figure feels nice and solid. Plastics quality is good and he feels very durable. Joints were all good on my copy.
Size-wise, he's about perfect IMO. A solid voyager size that's a bit shorter than my Megatron (Hegemon) and Optimus (MP10-V), and a good counterpart for FoC Soundwave.
Here he is with some other Shockwave figures. The Cyber Battalion figure is far and away the most G1-inspired. He'll be replacing TFP Beast Hunters Shockwave in my CHUG display.
Because of it's limited possibility and weak alt mode, Cyber Battalion Shockwave is certainly not the "total package", and not the voyager-class Shockwave that CHUG collectors have been waiting for. But if you can accept its faults and are content with it pretty much just being a display piece in a relatively-static bot-mode pose, it's a great figure.

Wonder how he sizes up to either Cyber Battalion Megatron or Titans Return Megatron. Shockwave oughta be more like a head shorter than Megatron, like how the MPs size up to each other.

They may cost as much or even more than the figure itself. However, they sure to be well worth it.
If I could have one myself without having to import it, I would mod it using the scraps I have on hand.

In the Nineth pic, the TR Blitzwing (retool TR Megs) is on the far left, and Shockwave looks to be about a head shorter.

He defeated almost all the Autobots when he showed up, beat up Megatron and took over The Decepticons. That’s pretty big. The only fiction that depicted him being nothing was the cartoon everything else made in a star. And they depict him shorter usually. About the same height

Why are you equating height with strength? He was always powerful, no one's saying otherwise. But he wasn't a juggernaut in size like Jetfire or Omega Supreme. He was a powerful but normal-sized guy.Randomhero wrote:Sabrblade wrote:...shorter than Megatron. Just to point out the obvious:
---NOT meant for collectors.
---Aimed at young children.
---Mainly for the "poor" countries market.

I actually don't think hasbro care if collectors buy it or not. This ticks all box for catering to less affluent children, far as they see it, who cares who buys it as long as it's bought. I think we're likely going to get a new Shockwave in the next three years. There's a 1 in 4 chance it will be in the size class you want

I'm just asking for quality figures and if Hasbro is confident that more people will buy half@ssed crap like this then it will impact the other lines.
If you like this Cyber Series, then fine. Dismiss what I'm saying all you like but as far as Hasbro not caring, tell that to them during those Toy fair and Comic Conventions where the Hasbro panel is constantly thanking "US" for our support.
Meanwhile that previous wave of Cyber figures (StarScream and Prowl) have been collecting dust at my local Walgreen's in the clearance bin for over a year now.
So I think it's important to remind Hasbro that even children haven't given up on quality toys as of yet....

A child being dragged by his Mom to the Pharmacy section in the back that has to go through the "Toy aisle" that's strategically placed in a section that can't be avoided.
Hell even the restrooms at my local Wal-mart have a gauntlet of toy isles that you can't avoid in order to get there.
